Chapter 47

MARCOS

When Gabriela started to focus her gaze on some point behind me, it didn't take long for me to turn around to see what was so interesting behind me. Her face lit up in a way I haven't seen her do in a while and Alex's smile widens as soon as he sees her so I decide it's best to leave them alone for a while. 

Maybe Gabriela decided once and for all to be her partner, because I don't understand her, she loves him, but she's not with him. I know it's difficult for her after everything that happened between them, but I think she should stop being so stubborn and realize Alex won't do anything to her, he'll just take care of her like he didn't do years ago, and this time I'll take care of it. 

"Okay guys, I'll leave you alone. See you later Gabriela." As soon as I say those words, they turn to look at me and I know Gabriela was going to say there was no need for me not to leave, I knew her well, but I also know she wants to be with Alex and they need some time alone, of course. I wasn't going to deny her that, the only thing that mattered to me was she was happy and that happiness would be with Alex, it became clear to me a long time ago. 

"You don't have to go." She said without looking away from me even a single millimeter. "I know, but I'm going to do it, so I can talk to Sara and see if I can get her to see reason." I answered, even though that wasn't the reason I was going to leave. "I don't think you'll make it, and you know I don't care what anyone thinks, if I want, I'll do it, not even my parents will be able to stop it." 

"I know, and I'm glad for that, but I'm leaving." I insisted with a big smile, "Marcos…" she began, but this time she wouldn't convince me, I wasn't going to let her convince me, because in part, I meant it, I'm going to try to make Sara reconsider, and I also know that it's almost an impossible mission, but by trying I wouldn't lose anything, I know Sara was an important person in Gabriela's life and I don't want her to feel bad because of Sara, I will do everything in my power to make Gabriela happy. 

"You're not going to convince me, we both know what you want, so don't do it now." I see she smiles at what I say, because we both know it's true, she wants to be with him, I could see that. With that I left without saying anything else. I was going to wait for Clara and Sara at the entrance to college and when they appear I can see Sara's already sulking in the morning, I imagine it is because she saw Gabriela next to Alex. 

"Hello girls." I said cheerfully "Hello Marcos." Clara responded and as soon as she said I was stunned looking at her. For me, Clara was the most beautiful girl there could be in the whole world, I loved her way of being, basically, I loved everything about her, but I was embarrassed to tell her, I don't know what was going through her head or anything and that terrified me, because maybe she wasn't attracted to me and I didn't want the relationship between us to become awkward or something. 

"Sara, could you do me a favor and change that face?" she asked, looking at her sister. "It's my face Clara, I don't have another one." She assured, but Clara rolled her eyes. We both knew that was her angry face. "You don't have another one since Gabriela and Alex are friends." 

"I just can't believe they're always together now." She protested, "Gabriela already told you what was going on, stop thinking about that in your crazy head and let her be." Clara insisted, "Well, my crazy head seems to be the only one that thinks about Gabriela's sanity." 

I wasn't going to let them argue, it was normal for them to do so, but if Gabriela was here, I don't think she would like them to argue over her, so I'm going to do something to stop them and see if she could convince Sara everything was okay. 

"Can I tell you something without you killing me, Sara?" I asked "I can't guarantee it, but you can try. I think I know what you want to tell me." She admitted, "Let's see, would I let something bad happen to Gabriela?" I asked and she denied "And don't you think in case he hurt her; I will be the first to kill the person who hurt Gabriela?" 

"Yes, you will." She replied, "Do you trust my judgment?" I inquired, "A little." she said, "And in Gabriela's?" I asked and she nodded once again "Well in this case you can believe us both. Alex won't do anything to her." 

"But I think in this case Gabriela isn't observing well." She practically assured her and I took a deep breath to gather patience. "She does it, I assure you she's observing him better than she observes other people. If you saw how her face lights up whenever she sees him, you would see with him, Gabriela will be happy. Give the guy a chance." 

"I still can't believe you didn't tell me from the beginning." She protested, "Gabriela didn't want to, she sensed how you would react and she didn't want anything to happen to you, or to him." I assured, because I guess that was the reason why she didn't want to tell her. "Well, I'll think about giving him a chance, but if he does the slightest harm to Gabriela, I'll kill him with my own hands." 

And with that I know I won the battle. I managed to convince Sara and I have no idea how, but at least she wouldn't be as sulking about everything as she was until now. At least I could see she already had a smile, yes, I also know that she meant it when she said Sara would kill Alex if he did the least amount of harm to Gabriela. 

It didn't take long for the bell to ring and we went to class. I was going to head towards my class when I see Gabriela and Alex passing by. He had his arm over her shoulders and they were happy, Gabriela looked happy. I loved seeing her like that and she really deserves to be happy more than anyone else, both she and Alex after everything they went through, which may have been largely his fault, but if they overcame this it meant their love is so strong nothing can separate them.
