Meeting Noelle

I'm very nervous about this, I entered the adoption center and approached the front desk and cleared my throat

"Hi, I'm James," I said, doing my best to keep my voice steady. "I'm here to inquire about adopting a child."

The receptionist, a kind-faced woman in her 50s, looked up and offered me a warm smile. "Hi, James. How can I help you today?"

I took a deep breath, my fingers trembling slightly as I explained the situation. "I, uh, I've been thinking about adopting a daughter, and I've always wanted a family of my own. I'm here because I'm ready to take that step and become a father."

The receptionist nodded at me sympathetically, her eyes filled with understanding. "That's a very admirable and courageous decision, James. Let me tell you a bit about the process and see how we can help you get started."

For the next hour, I listened intently as the receptionist walked me through the intricacies of adoption – the paperwork, the home visits, the waiting period, and the emotional roller coaster that lay ahead. As daunting as it all sounded, I felt a newfound sense of determination. This was my chance to break the thing I kept on thing about in 2 years, to keep my promise to the guy who donated $10,000,000 when I was 16 even even tho I didn't made a promise with him.

"Now, we have several children in our care who are in need of a loving home," the receptionist said, her voice warm and encouraging. "Would you like me to introduce you to a few of them?"

I nodded eagerly, my heart racing with anticipation. The receptionist led me down a hallway to a small playroom, where a handful of children of various ages were engaged in various activities.

As I scanned the room, my gaze settled on a young girl sitting in the corner, her knees pulled up to her chest, her eyes downcast. There was a haunting quality to her demeanor, a sadness that tugged at my heartstrings.

"That's Noelle," the receptionist whispered, noticing the direction of my gaze. "She's 17 years old and has been with us for quite some time. I have to warn you, she's a bit shy and withdrawn, but she's a sweet girl."

I couldn't take his eyes off of Noelle. There was something about her that resonated with me, a kindred spirit I couldn't quite explain, adopting someone older wouldn't be a problem since I don't need to teach them or something that a young one need to learn.

Without a moment's hesitation,I turned to the receptionist, a newfound determination burning in my eyes.

"I want to meet her. I want to meet Noelle."

The receptionist nodded, a hint of a smile playing on her lips. "I had a feeling you might say that. Come on, let's go introduce you."

As I followed the receptionist across the room, he felt a mixture of excitement and trepidation. This is it – I can't believe I'm doing it. With a deep breath, I steeled myself, ready to face whatever challenges lay ahead, knowing that my life was about to change forever.
