[Chapter 1.3: Details...
Awakened Power: Superspeed.
Once you have awakened this power, you will be granted a system; The Reaper System. Information on this system will be provided in the 2nd Chapter (refer to Page 11)
Congratulations! Your skill is truly wonderful, having the ability to potentially break down your existence into molecular sizes. After first activation, you will be able to use the power, once again, out of share will power.]
I shut the book, my eyes glimmering in excitement. It resembled the character sprouted by the serum but this one was more generic, original and more joyous.
I pushed the chair behind me, and with the aid of its foot wheels, it rolled to the edge of the room. I dusted my foot on a rug at the entrance of the door and commenced a few training practices.
In order to harness the power to even its lowest potential, I needed to train. I looked at my stomach, slightly oversized and my legs, frail and weak. My face was charming but a charming face wouldn't save me from a hired killer.
Suddenly, a thought crossed my mind, quickly subsiding the joy within me.
"How do I even begin training?" I thought to myself, making a few squats on the spot.
Building leg strength was definitely priority but I had never observed leg day throughout my life except the few days my dad forced me to train a few years back - when his ideologies began to take fruit.
However, I didn't let my father's words and actions discourage me. I trained my legs as if I was about to run across the whole world. Super speed didn't seem energy consuming to me.
The movies I had watched always had a bit of superpowers and in those superpowers, Superspeed was almost always introduced. Flash for instance, isn't the strongest character in the universe but runs the fastest.
"I've never seen him train his legs either."
I rubbed my chin, slowly discontinuing my training activities. I stretched my limbs and hopped a few times before speaking.
"Let's take the baby for a test drive... Superspeed!"
I felt an immense rush of blood in my legs. My veins and arteries bulged out and I could feel my pulse growing louder. I lifted my right leg, feeling an intense vibration that disoriented me.
I couldn't control the speed at which it vibrates and that gave rise to fear. The fear of crashing into the door, or even worse, the window which would make me collapse.
I mustered the little courage within me, inhaling a large volume of air. My lungs expanded drastically and I placed my feet on the ground filled completely with fear.
"No...." I screamed, my voice growing fainter every second.
Time had seemed to have slowed down - but only for me. The rug beside me was suspended in the air, my textbook, halfway open with a few pages flying around and the worst was the shut window in front of me.
'Why the window?' I asked myself, trying to gain control over myself.
The feeling was complex. I felt a mix of nausea, dizziness, and at its least, excitement. Although my excitement quickly faded as I dived head first to the wall, the other two dwelled stubbornly.
I couldn't move me body but my body still moved. Time slowed down but it was normal for me. Is it my speed? Questions came rushing into my head. I wasn't a fan of Physics and I skipped to many classes to grasp the basics of motion but I somehow knew my predicament.
It felt like time had slowed but in reality it was the same. It was confusing but I concluded that time didn't change, rather in my case, it was more like a chain of motions.
The interval between those motions didn't matter. Speeding them up didn't change the pace at which I thought. In other words, superspeed closely related to Time Manipulation but it differed slightly.
Time Manipulation could increase, reduce or even stop time whereas Superspeed could only reduce time at a cost of physical speed.
'I see now, the only thing that remains the same is the pace at which I think probably because my brain processes really fast but every other thing around me, including my body slows down like a snail, perhaps even slower'
This meant I would have to train my legs to run faster, but what good would that do. I would need to run even faster than race cars just to be able to walk normally in this space.
I thought harder than ever as I was stuck in my unfortunate direction - the window which would possibly lead to my death until the System's voice echoed. A sign of hope had emerged, the soothing calm female voice of the System, like a god or an angel sent to save me.
My eyes widened or at least they felt like they did. I couldn't feel them opening but my mind told me so.
[Additional Skill Unlocked: Speed Chamber
Details: Physics works differently with Superspeed and with this power, you are able to affect the speed of items in a particular space.
Evolution Stages: 0/5. This skill can only be evolved 5 times.]
'So skills can be evolved. I see... but how do I stop myself from moving? Since it's my first time, maybe yelling "stop" will do the trick.
But then again, it would take minutes or even hours for me till my word would be completely pronounced. And what if it wasn't the way to go, does that mean that I'll be stuck here forever? In this time-tampered space of sadness.'
I attempted on final move before losing hope - will power. I had made a decisive thought to save me from my impending doom. I forged a thought where time was returned to normal. With this thought in mind, and pushed my legs firmly on the ground, not able to feel any sort of movements in my joints.
Suddenly, I fell to the ground. Some of the pages from my textbook, completely torn to shreds. My sneakers made a squeaking noise like I was playing a basketball ball came in a court.
A large thud followed my quick descent to the floor. The thud echoed around the hallway and seemed to have been sourced from a student beside my room.
"What just happened?" I heard him shout frustratingly, although not clearly.
I clung my face to the wall, my sweat deeply soaking it in an attempt to hear what he would say next.
"I have to start going. Not long ago, I still had a few hours, this is just weird. I hope it was my powers that had awakened."
I was confused, my face exhibition is usual bewildered expression as I detached myself from the wall. What the boy was talking about, I had no clue.
I shifted my gaze to the clock.
[0 Hours Left]
"Huh? How come?" I muttered, rushing into the bathroom. I grabbed a face towel, washed the sweat off my face and wiped it with the towel.
It was just a theory but the imagination I had forged must have had connections with the sudden time elapse. It was either that or the other student at the left of my room had awakened the Time Manipulation skill and decided to have some fun. After all, I didn't hear any reaction from him
"If Time Manipulation is wielded by the 92nd student here, how much stronger could the person with the assigned number of 1 be."
