Time Rewind

"You're really weird today you know that?" Jacob said while looking at Andrey.

"Am I?" Andrey asked with the same smile.

"Hey that smile is now really getting on my nerves you bastard, stop that!" Jacob said while furrowing his eyebrows.

Hearing Jacob's words Jenny who was still listening to their conversation unconsciously nodded to convey that she agreed with him.

"Alright alright, I'm just happy to see you guys but if you don't want to see then I'll mask this smile of mine for the sake of our friendship," Andrey replied in a hurtful manner.

"Just look at this guy...I clearly remember recommending you an anime to watch this summer...what the hell did you watch to get influenced by it to such an extent." Jacob couldn't help but shake his head.

Jacob's words were like a trigger for Andrey who suddenly grabbed Jacob's neck by his arms and tightened it as he said "I almost forgot about that you bastard! Who recommends someone an anime which has more than a thousand episodes? Did you know that I didn't do anything productive during the vacation all cause of your goddamn recommendation!"

"Ow ow ow...loosen the grip, you bastard! If you didn't wanted to watch it then you shouldn't have watched it in the first place! Why are blaming me now for your lack of self-control?" Jacob said after getting out of Andrey's grip as he ordered his dishevelled shirt collar and continued.

"Besides, you aren't the only one who suffered, I wasted my entire summer trying to finish that assassin game you recommended to me before the vacation!" Jacob told his misgivings.

"...well hearing that makes me feel slightly better," Andrey said

"Don't say it to my face, you bastard!" Jacob rebuked. After getting pressed by him in between his arms he was not in a good mood.

"Heh! Aren't you two too old to be wasting your time watching anime and playing games? Mend your ways before it's too late," Jenny joined in and scoffed at the two of them.

"I don't want a Drama addict to lecture us on what's right and what's wrong," Jacob said in a condescending manner.

"Hey! You have no right to insult my dramas..." and with this, both Jacob and Jenny started bickering with each other like there was no tomorrow.

Fortunately for Andrey, his ears were saved from the sudden arrival of the homeroom teacher.

"Good morning students! I hope that you all enjoyed your summer vacations" Miss Jane's mellifluous voice had a sort of calming effect as all the noise in the classroom settled down and everyone stood up to wish Miss Jane.

Miss Jane didn't mind the sudden silence from the students as this was something she was very used to and gave a cursory glance to the students before saying with a nod, "Alright sit down, it seems like everyone is here today so let's begin with the attendance.

"Jenny"

"Present ma'am"

"Jacob"

"Present ma'am"

"Andrey"

"Present ma'am"

"What's wrong with your face Andrey?" Miss Jane asked when she realised that he looked all bruised up.

"I fell down on my way to school," Andrey replied while scratching the back of his head which invited a few giggles from the other classmates who were also curious about his state.

"How many times have I told you all to look down at the ground while walking but you people keep on walking while looking at your mobile screens... Go to the infirmary and get yourself checked," Miss Jane said with a sigh as she waved her hand to indicate to Andrey that he could leave.

Andrey could only bitterly smile as Miss Jane wrongfully accused him and went out of the class. It was a good thing that he didn't need to stay in the class.

He soon made his way to the infirmary which was outside the school's main complex and built separately near the school's field.

It was a bit long walk but the good thing was that the sister nursing the students would sometimes allow the students to rest in the infirmary for a period after treating them but if they were only feigning to act sick or injured then she would gladly take them to the Vice principal's office without remorse.

Knock Knock Knock

"May I come in Sister Yule?" Andrey asked from outside the door of the small building.

"Come in," A stern voice came from the inside.

Upon coming in Andrey saw a white eastern beauty, Sister Yule, sitting on her chair while going through some papers on her table. Her monolid eyes complimented by her glasses were enough to captivate a man but the only reason the Infirmary was so empty was because of Sister Yule's strict nature.

After lifting her Navy Blue rectangular glasses till it was firmly placed above her forehead she turned towards Andrey and asked, "What's the matter... never mind come inside." She said after noticing the bruises on Andrey's face.

Andrey was soon made to sit on a small metallic stool and was asked to wipe his face with a wet cloth by Sister Yule. After that Sister Yule applied disinfectant on the bruises on his face with the help of cotton balls.

"It isn't a good sign to get injured right on the first day of school kid," Sister Yule said in a caring manner as she was applying the disinfectant on Andrey's forehead.

"Mhmm" Andrey hummed to agree with her statement as he was currently resisting the urge the cry out in pain as the disinfectant was burning his whole face.

Sister Yule seemed to understand what he was trying to do and said with a smile that would melt any heart, "Heh, aren't you a tough one kiddo, just a few seconds more and we'll be all done,"

It could be said that Sister Yule had a dual personality and this was something which was known to all students.

Whenever she was treating a student she would become a kind angel sent personally from heaven to heal the students but the moment her treatment was finished she would turn back into her previous cold nature.

The stark change in personality often took the students going to the infirmary for the first time by surprise and has by now become a very popular topic to discuss during the lunch breaks.

"Alright, all done," Sister Yule said in a gentle manner as she threw the cotton ball in her hand into the dustbin nearby before saying, "You may choose to stay here for the first period or just go back to your class, do what you prefer,"

The kind angel had already turned into a frigid beauty and went back to her business. Andrey could only smile in an amused manner after seeing it as no matter how many times he saw Sister Yule's personality shift he was always impressed by it.

He soon took one of the ten beds that were placed in the infirmary and laid down on it to relax as a wave of exhaustion swept over him.

'Damn, it's only been 3 hrs since I woke up and I'm already exhausted...though it's not a shocker to be exhausted after considering that I've barely escaped death today,' Andrey thought to himself.

Now that his mind was completely relaxed a certain part of his memory suddenly surfaced and made him remember the distinct voice which he heard before he travelled back in time.

'What did that voice say?...it said something like Rewind?...yes it was...Time Rewind' The moment said the word 'Time Rewind' in his mind his perspective once again changed as he found himself standing just beside the bed.

"Oh my freaking god!" Andrey exclaimed in surprise.

"QUIET!" A stern voice of Sister Yule came from the other room which forced Andrey to bottle up his emotions.

"I thought that it was only a one-time thing... No, I shouldn't get too excited so soon, let's test this out once again," Andrey said to himself and took a deep breath before saying the word this time instead of thinking, "Time Rewind"

"QUIET!" Sister Yule's voice once again entered his ears and with that, an intense sense of happiness washed all over him.

'Wait a minute...can't I return back to any moment in the past if I keep on using this power?' A mindblowing theory rose up in his mind all of a sudden and he immediately tried to put it into practice.

"Time Rewind"

"...huh?" The expected change didn't happen as things were the same as before.

"What the hell? Did the power disappear?" Andrey could hear his heart palpitating as the fear of losing something very dear to him shrouded his heart. Not wanting to accept it he kept on repeating the word hoping for it to work.

"Time Rewind!" Nothing happened.

"Time Rewind!" Still, nothing happened and Andrey could feel his heart constricting from the cloud of disappointment that was nearing him. Thinking of the next attempt as his last he once again said.

"Time Rewind!"

"QUIET!"

"It Worked! Yes!" Andrey shouted in excitement.

"You rascal, what do you take this place for?! You can go out if you don't want to stay here anymore?" Sister Yule rushed out of her office room and glared at Andrey.

"I'm sorry Sister Yule, It won't happen again I promise," Andrey immediately accepted his mistake and apologized to Sister Yule as he had no intention of going back to the class now and instead wanted to test and figure out how to use his powers.

"Hmph! There won't be a next time," Sister Yule went back to her work after warning Andrey. Seeing Sister Yule return to her room Andrey finally took a sigh of relief.

Sitting down on the bed he took out his smartphone and opened the stopwatch app.

"Let's figure this power out now," Andrey said to himself as he pressed the play button of the stopwatch and proceeded to attempt rewinds.
