"Here you go."
In a dimly lit tent in front of Malvorrak's mountain, a young lizardman with a glass jug in hand walked forward and poured out the contents of wine in the jug into a small cup on a table.
"Thank you, Qarc," a giant lizardman with a luxurious robe spoke, patting the young lizardman on the shoulder before picking up the glass of wine from the table.
He remembered Qarc's father; he was a warrior beyond warriors. Albeit not stronger than him, he was a force to be reckoned with in the younger generation in the clan.
Unfortunately, he had been killed in the 100 tribes' various skirmishes. If only he could see his son now… wouldn't he be happy? This was what war did to people.
It separated man from wife and child from father… and more often than not, it was permanent.
"You're welcome, Fourth Elder," Qarc bowed subtly with a smile on his face.
He had always liked the thought of reconnecting with the main clan. As he had no idea about his lineage and their structure, it was always a point of interest that he unfortunately didn't have the permission to pursue. Who would have thought that he was related to such powerful people?
"Yeah," the Fourth Elder smiled, then turned to the rest. When the time was right, he would try to see the limits of Qarc's talents.
"Anyway, this is the only course of action that we can take. There's no in-between," the Fourth Elder, after a second of internal reflection, said to the room filled with creatures.
Malvorrak had killed not just one, nor two, but about 30 humans, and this included a champion under the 8th chieftain of the human tribes. There was no negotiating this without Malvorrak's head, so they had to come to the only other option.
Run.
They would pack everyone involved and leave the region entirely, completely denying ever being here in the first place.
Yes, they were planning to deny everything. That included even the matter of them arresting the envoys in the first place. The human tribe was very unreasonable when it came to matters that had to do with the death of their members, but even they knew that due process was important.
They wouldn't send their entire army into the 100 tribes' territory because of some random accusation not founded in evidence.
Dispite the hatred amongst the lizardman tribes, any sight of an external threat would be viewed as a threat to all.
"Sigh!" Zysera sighed heavily. She had helmed over this region for so many years, and so had many from the clan before her. Letting it go so easily wasn't an easy request.
But so many things had happened, including the burning of the village. Just repairing that would cost a fortune. It seemed like the only option. They had to abandon the Yolan village, at least for now.
"It seems like it's the only choice, to be honest, but I doubt the big guy will go along with this," right opposite the table, a small white lizard with about four goblins surrounding him said as he sat comfortably on a chair looking at the Fourth Elder while he fell into a contemplative thought.
The 100 tribes of the lizardman were one of the four top powers under Yi Mountain. The human tribes would need to think twice before entering in between their countless wars.
This plan was not bad at all, but would Malvorrak agree to leaving his mountain? That big oaf didn't really fear anything, even death.
It would be hard to convince him.
"You'll have to convince him… either way, the entire Yolan village will resettle in the 100 tribes' territory." The Fourth Elder spoke hesitantly, but his words were firm.
Malvorrak had helped the lizardman by taking out those humans. It didn't matter how hard he tried to twist it in his mind, he couldn't just fathom what would have happened if those guys got their hands on Qarc and the rest.
Whether it was ransom, torture, or even straight-up murder, it would infuriate their tribe leader, who would most probably forget about the repercussions and seek revenge.
They owed Malvorrak here a debt. The least they could do was protect him from the impending danger that was the human tribes.
"Sigh, I understand," Cious nodded his head in understanding, trying to think of a way to spin this situation.
Then all of a sudden, he had a bright idea.
…
Deep inside Malvorrak's cave.
Malvorrak's cave was much deeper than it seemed on the outside. There was a small tunnel hidden that led to where he kept his treasures.
This was his main retreat.
"Yawww," Malvorrak's wide maw opened up as he took in a large breath of air, causing his eyes to water up a bit. From the slits of his eyes, he soon noticed a small white figure standing outside the small cave, looking at him with a skewed smile on his face.
Malvorrak's skin no longer looked as green as jade. Instead, it was a combination of two distinct colors: one a bright green shade and the other a dark pasty underside covered in scales.
Malvorrak no longer looked like an overgrown Terragor. Now he looked to be something more, something more refined and rare.
To accommodate for its presence in his body, the Ku had forcefully pushed Malvorrak's body to its limits, causing not only his body but also his blood to become more pure and untainted.
"What do you want?" Malvorrak asked grumpily, seeing Cious disturb his alone time.
He had always been a solitary creature. The fact that his home had now been overrun by these people did not mean he would change.
He still wanted some peace.
"Hehe, don't you think you look more like a Dragon Kin right now?" Cious asked jokingly, looking at Malvorrak's current posture.
He was a giant lizard creature surrounded by a mountain of coins and treasures of different values. If not a dragon, what other creature had this sort of personality?
