It felt good that I was able to share with Cherry. She's a nice girl. I'm glad we're friends.
After having coffee with her, I went back to the mall. My thoughts are debating whether I talk to him or not. I was kinda surprised when I heard them in his office. He changes his mind about the engagement because of Mina. His ex-girlfriend. I feel sad and guilty. I know it's my fault. She wouldn't have found someone else if I never tried to break them up.
When Cherry asked him if he has feelings for me. I already know the answer yet I hope. I hope that he has feelings for me, at least a little and we will start from there. I have to admit that I like him. Even after having amnesia, I like him. I tried to dismiss my thoughts of him but it's hard every time I see him. While my feelings are still fresh, I want to end this. I don't want to repeat the things in the past. It'll only hurt us both.
I went up to the top floor of the mall. I saw the sky garden and decided to go there. I need air. I'll speak to Gin later once I organize my thoughts.
The place is quiet. Only a few people were around walking and taking pictures. I walk around and stop at the corner when I saw Gin.
Gin is standing there. His hands-on his pockets. He's staring in the air. He looks like he's in deep thoughts.
I think he notices that someone is looking at him cause he turns to me.
"Georgina." He uttered a little surprise.
"Hi," I said.
I walk towards him.
"What are you doing here?" He asked.
"I want to speak with you about the engagement," I said.
He exhales then nodded.
He asks me to sit on the bench with him.
"How are you?" He asked me, I think he's referring to the last time my mother slap me in front of him.
"I'm fine. But I'm still mad that you told them about Gota." I said.
He smiles. "I did that cause I don't want you to go back there. It's not safe."
We remain quiet for a while before he starts to speak again.
"Let's get engaged." He uttered in a serious voice. He looks at me in my eyes.
My heart started to pound. I can't even say anything. My heart wants to say yes but my mind contradicts.
He took something from his pocket. A small box. He open it and took a diamond ring. It's very pretty. It shines beautifully.
I look at him in surprise. When did he get a ring? He's really serious? He wants us to get engaged.
He looks at me. His eyes asked for approval. I nodded. He smiled.
He grabbed my hand and put the ring on my finger. The ring fits me perfectly. It's beautiful.
We're engaged!
Deep inside I want this. I want to engage with him.
"We will have dinner tomorrow night with our parents. I'll see you there. I need to go back to work now." He said.
"Okay."
He stood up.
"Are you with Simon?" He asked.
"Yes."
"You should go home now."
I nodded. Still speechless. He just propose to me right?
Simon drove me home. I'm looking at the ring on my finger. I'm engaged but why do I feel strange. I like this man but I know he's just doing this to forget Mina. And I grab the opportunity to be with him. I'm becoming my old self.
As soon as I entered the house, Bettany asked me.
"What did you talk about? Did you reject the engagement?" She asked.
I showed her the ring on my finger.
She put her hand on her mouth in surprise. Her eyes are wide.
"You're engaged!?" She asked in disbelief.
I nodded.
I saw Mom and Dad walking towards me. They saw the ring on my finger. They're also surprised.
Mom embraces me.
"I'm so happy for you, sweetie." She said.
Dad also hugs me kisses me on the forehead.
"My baby daughter is getting married." He uttered. He sounds happy.
They are all smiling. They look excited.
After I talked to them, I went straight to my room. My head hurts. I need to take a nap. Everything was overwhelming and sudden.
I'm now engaged. It's surreal.
I also called Cherry and told her the news. She's surprised by the turn of events. I told her about the ring. She wants to see it.
"You might start from this but I think Gin will eventually love you. I can feel it." She said. She sounds confident. I hope I have the same confidence.
The next day, we all went out for the family dinner with Gin's parents. We are going to discuss the engagement party and the wedding.
Gin and I sit together. He looks very attractive in his suit. Even the waitresses in the restaurant keep eyeing him. He looks serious and discusses with our parents politely but I can see that he's not interested in the topic especially our engagement or the wedding.
"Let's do the engagement party next month and the wedding next year." Mr. Enrique uttered after the discussion.
I nodded. Gin also agreed.
Our parents all do the talking while Gin remains quiet most of the night. When we were about to leave Mr. Enrique told him to drive me home. He just nodded.
He leads me to his car and opens the door for me. He settled in and started driving.
He's so quiet.
"Gin?"
"Hm?" He answered without looking at me. He's focused on driving.
"Are you okay?" I asked.
He glances at me. " Yeah, why?"
"You've been so quiet. You just agreed on everything." I said.
He pauses. He looks at me again.
"I'm just tired. Let's go somewhere first." He said.
"Where?"
"You'll see." He said.
I noticed we're driving up a hill. Trees are everywhere until we saw a clearing. He stops the car. We went out.
"What's this place?" I asked while looking around.
There are trees around and it's dark. Just a cold blow of wind.
"Come." He said.
He grabbed my hand and lead the way. We're holding hands! My heart skip a bit.
We walk through the trees. Then I saw it. The bright lights.
We're on top! We can see the city lights below. It's beautiful!
"Wow!" I said. "Gin! This is amazing." I said as I look down.
He smiles at me.
"How did you find this place?" I asked.
"Someone offered me to buy this place a few years ago. I was not gonna buy it but then the owner told me to come here at night and decide."
"Tell me you bought this place," I said.
He chuckled. "Yes."
"Wow. I'm so jealous. Will you sell this to me? I'll ask my parents to give me money." I asked.
"You don't have to. I'm planning to build our house here."
Our house?
I look at him in disbelief. He's going to marry me. We're going to live together as husband and wife? My heart is pounding. I feel butterflies in my stomach.
"Are you serious?" I asked smiling.
He nodded.
"Georgina, we're about to get married. You'll have to live with me eventually. I know this is just a marriage for convenience but I want you to be comfortable. I think you already have an idea right?" He asked.
My heart sank. My smile fades away.
"Yes. I know you don't have feelings for me. It's for our parents, business, to clean my refutation and to forget Mina." I sound bitter but I can't help it.
He's stunned. He didn't expect I'll speak of Mina.
"Who told you that? Cherry?" Gin asked. He sounds mad.
"I heard you two talking. I was outside your office that day." I explained. I don't want to cause trouble to Cherry.
He was about to speak when I interrupted him. I just can't listen to him anymore. This is starting to get hurt.
"I want to go home," I uttered and walk back to the car.
I feel like crying. Why am I so upset? I was the one who mentioned Mina.
Gin hop into the car with me. I look away from him. I just stared at the trees and houses we pass by on the way back. We're silent on the ride until we're home. He bid his goodbye and good night. He sounds cold and distant and I do the same.
