House of the Rising Sun

You know, I was fascinated with vampires when I was a kid. The thought of power and good looks made me want to be one. That is, until I actually became one. Suddenly Lestat’s musings of an eternity being lonely became too real. Waking up in a forest who would have thought I’d run into ‘that’ family. I’d strangle the one that sent me here if she hadn’t trapped me in a world full of bullshit magic, doppelgängers, and broody vampires. *Status: Complete* The rest of Volume 3 will be released on the 11th of July

The Doppelgänger

Waking up the next morning I washed up and got dressed before heading to the cellar. Taking another sip of blood I got ready for the day of staking out the Salvatore's to see who their guest was. I bid Mary and everyone else goodbye and left through the front door. I walked through the gate and began walking around town taking in the gossip and having friendly conversations with people. Eventually I found myself looking at the church. I walked over and looked at the building. It was relatively average, wooden walls painted white. A singular steeple with a bell, the graveyard was next to it. Several crows landed on the fence around the church and I put my last theory to the test. Focusing on a bird I attempted to possess it only to cause the bird to fly away cawing. Cursing at the failure I turned away just in time to see a carriage move through the town towards the Salvatore home. Using my recently discovered power I felt around to see if anybody was spying on me or within view of me. Noticing no one, I flew high into the sky to be mistaken as a bird and followed the carriage.

It stopped at the Salvatore home and I held my breath as I waited. Stefan and Damon were waiting with their father by the doors. Lillian was nowhere to be seen, I assumed she was in the house. The carriage doors open and I nearly plummet from the sky. I cursed under my breath as I watched two women exit the carriage. Stefan seemed taken back, and I knew exactly why. Katherine Pierce just arrived into the Salvatores' lives.

'That must mean that the other woman is Emily Bennet.'

I cursed under my breath again and flew back home, willing myself to descend from the sky a bit faster so that people would not notice me. Walking back inside I made a plan,

''Morgana said that I couldn't change the future but I could influence it. What the fuck did she even mean by that? Is that like 'you can't change key moments in time'? The brothers have to become vampires so they can deal with Elena in the future so I don't have to."

I finally decided that I was going to just keep observing at the moment. I'd only intervene if something funky that I knew would directly involve me. Hell I could have slept a little longer, but I wasn't going to miss being able to invest in things I knew would make me filthy rich in the future. I needed all the money I could get my hands on to help me in my quest for world domination anyways.

I didn't want to say the words out loud, I knew it all sounded stupid. I had all the time in the world and I was planning on having some fun.

Later that evening I decided to go exploring the town while everyone slept so I could catch the vampires that no doubt came along with Katherine. I filled my pockets with hundreds of toothpicks I had bought from the market earlier in the day. The thought of killing a predator with a small sliver of wood made me chuckle to myself. As I left the house I threw on my coat and looked around in the empty streets. I began to walk aimlessly until I felt a set of eyes fall on me. Bending down as if I had dropped something I felt myself get pulled into a darkened corner of the town. Hands clawed at my face and neck and I let out a growl that caused the vampire that attacked me to stop. I focused my power and threw the vampire back into a wall cracking it.

Katherine Pierce looked down at me with hate as I pinned her against the wall, she let out a growl and attempted to break free. I floated her closer to me and smiled at her, she spat in my face.

"Put me down, witch."

'Ah she thinks I'm a witch.' Time to bust out my acting skills again. "You think I'm a witch Katarina Petrova?"

She froze when I called her by her real name. Her struggle grew frantic as I levitated her closer to my face.

"W-what do you want? Whatever it is, I can give it to you."

"But you really can't," I feigned sadness. "What I want is you."

I felt myself internally shudder at the sentence I just said.

'Fuck that was gross.'

"You- You can't, I'm spoken for." She struggles against my hold again as I step forward, our faces now inches apart.

"Come now Katarina," I did my best to sound sultry. "We both know you aren't."

I take a deep breath as my lips brush against her neck. As devious as this woman was, she smelled delicious.

Turning my head slightly I looked at a stack of boxes.

"You can come out Emily Bennet, I can smell your fear."

Emily slowly steps out from behind the crates and begins to chant something. Before she can finish I float her up next to Katherine, keeping her mouth closed with my power. She struggles too and Katherine starts to glare at me. Time to wrap it up, I step over to Emily and smell her too. I wasn't just being a creep, I had memorized their scents so that I would know where they were at all times. Couldn't have these two exposing me.

"My, my, your blood smells absolutely divine Emily." I glance at Katherine. "Mind if I have a taste?"

I smiled again, willing my fangs to lengthen, the two women's eyes widened in horror. I step towards Emily and Katherine struggles even more against my powers hold. I see tears go down Emily's face as my fangs sink into her neck. Her blood exploded into my mouth and I took several big gulps before I lowered her unconscious body to the floor. I release Katherine and she immediately pounces on me but I catch her by the throat with one hand and pull her close.

"Your turn." Wrenching her head to the side I forcefully bit into her neck as she screamed. I muffled her voice with a hand as I continued to drink her blood.

I had some pretty good blood in the past, but Katherine's was something else. As I drank her blood I felt like I had grabbed onto a live wire, my nerves came alive with excitement and I felt a sense of bliss wash over me. Her struggling slowed and I dropped her on the floor. She clutched her bleeding neck as it healed her eyes on me. I wiped my mouth clean with a hand and squatted down to her level.

"I know what you are Katarina Petrova, I have tasted your blood. I know who you are running from and I know why you are here. I will leave you to your plans. You do the same for me, but expose me and I will come to you and drink you dry after having my way with you. Do you understand me?"

She nods her head, eyes still wide with fear. I smile one last time.

'And for the icing on the cake.' I used my power to levitate. Katherine's eyes grew wider, forcing power into my body. I exploded upwards with a sonic boom only stopping once I breach the clouds.

Back below I watched the doppelgänger check on her witch friend and I smiled. Maybe I'd visit her another night. Her blood was just too good to pass up.
