Lock Your Doors

"What did I tell you? He's come back to Olive Grove, you can't deny it any longer, he has already killed right inside of the city again! In broad daylight!" Arthur Hagger kept pacing back and forth, the scene of the crime having been thoroughly searched and the body was being rolled away.

The young man's face had been bashed against the wall, his neck had turned purple after being constricted too hard, Than had first silenced him before going for the kill.

"Alright Arthur, calm down and think straight, he's just one man, we'll be able to catch him, the witnesses identified whose car it was that he was driving, we got the plate number and everything, we'll catch him in time" responded the local sheriff, Arthur's superior hadn't seen him like this for a long while, he felt like Hagger shouldn't be allowed to go after Than.

The man seemed too erratic but he knew that he would have to lock him up to prevent it from happening and moreover, he had been there during Wilkerson's last rampage, he tried to appear confident but he knew that this murderer was a beast.

Than didn't have anything to do with Olive Grove, he had just started killing there by accident, he had just stumbled through this little town as he traveled south.

But it was where he had killed the most, six people of Olive Grove had been murdered before they were able to get him.

Back then, he had been a fifteen year old kid, in those five years, he had grown to become even larger.

"We'll search the town without stop until he is caught" he said but Arthur shook his head in disapproval.

"If we can't spread too thin, we are already too few to begin with, if we try to cover too much ground, we'll just be easy pickings for him, remember sheriff, a few bullets won't stop him!" Arthur reminded him, turning and walking back to his car.

Despite his warning, Hagger went all by himself without listening to what the sheriff had to say.

"Remember everyone, he has already been sentenced to death, don't show mercy, shoot to kill" he told the meager police force under his orders.

As insane as he sounded, Arthur was right, there weren't enough of them to watch over the whole town at once.

The rest of the day didn't bear anything, Than wasn't anywhere to be seen and two other bodies were found, both beaten to death.

Night came and the streets grew pitch black, the headlights of the police cars tore through the darkness but ultimately showing very little of what was around them, the officier in the passenger seat flashed his light around, trying to catch a glimpse of something suspicious.

"I know this guy is a mass murderer but why are so many scared senseless when he is brought up?" asked a young police officier, shining light on a tree that sort of looked like a person.

"You weren't there yet, only those that were there during his arrest know, he didn't let us arrest him even when we were all pointing our guns at him, we had to shoot him but he didn't seem to be fazed at all, he managed to kill two of us before dropping down" responded the driver, his hands shaking uncontrollably as he remembered that night five years ago.

As the feeling of terror he had felt then overtook him, he momentarily took his eyes of the road, only to come to with a person standing right in front of the car.

He swerved strongly to the side, hitting the sidewalk hard but none of them was hurt as they weren't moving very fast in the first place.

"Who was that?" the younger cop removed his belt and put his hand on the handle to step out of the car but his senior stopped him.

"I didn't hit anything, but they are gone, don't go outside, make sure the doors a locked properly and move away from the windows" he ordered shakily, pulling his firearm out, feeling like he wouldn't be able to press the trigger even if he tried his hardest.

As he did so, he also tried to reverse the car, drive away and get a better look at the surroundings, he didn't expect everything to go smoothly and yet, nothing broke through one of the windows, the car moved as it should and no suspicious sound was heard.

The older policeman was ready to heave a sigh of relief, he must have imagined it, had it been someone, they would a signaled their presence in some way and had it been Wilkerson, they wouldn't have been able to go so easily.

Right as the pressure bearing down on him settled down, a large hand shattered through his sides window, grabbing him by his hair.

Contrary to his expectation, he managed to shoot his gun, aiming right above him before his head was suddenly pulled downward, empaling his neck onto a shard of glass still struck to the bottom of the window.

"Ah fuck!" cursed the younger officier, trying to take control of the vehicle but his colleague, as he bled out, pushed on the accelerator, speeding them into a tree.

The crash was violent but he had had the presence of mind of putting his seatbelt back on quickly, preventing him from bashing his forehead.

He turned to his colleague, the shock had caused his whole body to be pushed forward, slicing even deeper into neck, until now, the young man never knew how much blood poured out of someone's neck when cut.

Not completely overwhelmed by the events yet, he got out of the car, illuminated the roof of the car only to find nothing there.

He spun around, not understanding how someone could have gotten on the roof without either of them noticing anything.

Turning around in a swift motion, his light flashed right on Than's mask, the man standing perfectly still barely a meter away from the young cop.

He rose his gun, aiming it right at The Slasher's head, it only took him a moment but Than was still faster, grabbing his wrist holding the weapon, he broke it without any effort, exposing the bones and pointing the barrel right back at him.

The shot went off, piercing right in the middle of his face, through his nose.

Than walked up to the police car, the older officier still bleeding profusely, not dead yet but soon there.

Grabbing one of the man shoulder's to hold him in place, Than pushed his head to the side, forcing the wound to open further, ending him for certain.

The killer's left shoulder wasn't so white anymore, deeply stained with red, the man's shot had reached its target.
