Emma Stone returned to Los Santos after filming "Twilight" in Oregon. She originally planned to visit her parents in Arizona, but a late-night viewing of "Saturday Night Live" changed her plans. The next day, she was back in Los Santos.
Xu Can was startled awake by the sound of someone opening his door, thinking a burglar had broken in. Grabbing a baseball bat, he was about to investigate when he saw Emma Stone's familiar figure. She had lost weight during filming and looked slimmer.
"May…" Emma began, intending to discuss "SNL," but Xu Can interrupted her with a tight embrace, pulling her close.
"I missed you, baby," Xu Can said.
"I missed you too," Emma responded.
Without warning, Xu Can lifted Emma onto his shoulder and carried her toward the bedroom, leaving her suitcase by the door.
"What are you doing?" Emma asked, surprised.
"What do you think I'm doing?"
"Wait! I just got back!"
"No, I can't wait."
His tone was firm, just as it was every morning. After all, she did surprise him with her early morning visit.
After a half-hour, the two emerged from a shower and sat down for breakfast. Emma's face was still flushed from the warmth of the water.
"How's the milk?" Xu Can asked with a playful grin.
Emma nearly choked on her drink, feeling like there was something suggestive in his question despite his serious expression.
"Will you be able to rest for a while now? Why didn't you go home to see your parents?" Xu Can asked.
Emma's mood shifted as she recalled why she came to Los Santos instead of going home. "What's going on with SNL? And when did you and Taylor Swift start getting close?"
"We're just collaborating professionally," Xu Can assured her. "There's nothing more to it."
Though Xu Can maintained a clear conscience—aside from a stolen kiss that no one should have noticed—the media had blown their relationship out of proportion.
"The media is hyping up your scandal," Emma said, clearly concerned.
"You can't believe everything the media says. You know how they are."
"What can I do? I'm really… really scared of losing you. Xu, I find that I can't live without you."
Emma's anger faded, replaced by vulnerability. She moved closer to Xu Can, holding his hand with a mix of fear and admiration. Since their kiss during the filming of Spider-Man, she hadn't been able to get him out of her mind.
Xu Can didn't say anything; he simply leaned in and hugged her. Emma rested her head on his chest, feeling comforted.
"Did you hear that? You won't lose me, unless one day you choose to leave."
Emma hugged him tightly, happy tears welling up in her eyes. The words touched her deeply.
Later, Xu Can headed to Galaxy Music, where Taylor Swift was hard at work on her album. He was relieved to have some time to focus on his business plans after Emma's unexpected visit had drained his energy. Rushing things with Taylor didn't seem right; he preferred to take his time.
At the studio, Swift greeted Xu Can with an apology. "Xu, are you here for a date? Unfortunately, I have to work with the production team on arrangements today."
"It's okay. We can go out after you're done. I just wanted to check on your progress," Xu Can replied.
"I love it here. Everyone's so nice, and we're all dedicated to the music," Swift said, clearly pleased with her environment.
"Thanks, Xu, for everything you've done for me."
"If you thank me again, I'll get upset. We're in this together, right? Now, go do your work—I have a meeting to attend, too."
Swift smiled, gave him a quick hug, and returned to the studio. Xu Can was glad to see her so happy and motivated. He needed to focus on his work, too.
Later, Joey White, head of production at Galaxy Pictures, informed Xu Can about the review results for "John Wick."
"It's rated R, which was expected. We've scheduled the release for May 4th to avoid summer competition," Joey reported.
"Perfect. How's the marketing going? Are NBC, FOX, and CBS all confirmed for the trailer?"
"Yes, boss. Everything is set. The trailer will also be shown in Colombian cinemas."
"Great. Let's proceed," Xu Can said, satisfied with the progress.
Joey added, "You should post the trailer on your social media. You've got 10 million followers worldwide, and your engagement rates are among the top 10 on the platform."
"Good idea. Make sure to coordinate with the media for additional promotions."
Xu Can ceremoniously posted the first trailer for "John Wick" on his social media, marking the official release of the film's promotional campaign.
The news of Taylor Swift signing with Galaxy Records caused some stir in the industry, but not too much. With so many aspiring country singers, only time would tell if she could stand out. Swift herself wasn't concerned about the lack of attention; she preferred to focus on her work.
Swift's songwriting was progressing faster than in her previous life, and many songs from her first album had already been written. With the help of a music producer, the arrangements and recordings could be completed, and her album could be released soon.
Swift was immersed in her music, excited to create something great.
