Chapter 39

"You know, I wasn't expecting you guys to come down with me in the elevator," Helen said as she stood in the elevator going down to the lobby with her friends. Helen thought she would be leaving them solo after she finished getting ready but that wasn't the case.

Now that she mentioned it, Helen wondered if they were planning to stay at her place till she returned home. None of them brought down the bags they showed up at her place with. She didn't remember giving them the invite to stay over.

"We'll go back up as soon as you leave. Just want to make sure you get in the car safely. You know the city is becoming a dangerous place," Julie said impatiently waiting to practically shove Helen into the limo. If only she could be a gross fly on the wall for this one night.

"You didn't really believe we would just let you come down here by yourself right? Your window is too far away for us to see anything clearly. For Christmas, I'll buy you the best telescope that money can buy," Jennifer mentally noted adding this to her early Christmas list.

"Why the heck would you buy it for me? You're the one who wants to use it," Helen stated. She didn't have any use for a telescope in her apartment.

"So many juicy things happen around you and your apartment building. It only makes sense to buy it for you to entertain us," Jennifer explained further. If only her neighborhood was exciting as this one. "Maybe I should consider moving out and being away from my parents," She considered.

Helen almost paled at the thought of having Jennifer close by too much. "Apartments aren't that fun as they might seem. It might be better for you to stay in that nice mansion you have."

"True. I wouldn't want to leave that luxury," Jennifer agreed with Helen. Living in an apartment sound fun but she would have to do everything for herself. Why do that when she could have servants carter to her? Maybe she could buy an apartment and visit it for an hour each week.

She had enough money to waste to entertain it.

The door of the elevator opened when it reached the main floor. Helen stepped out first with her friends eagerly trailing behind.

"Please, let me see the security camera tapes for a license plate," They heard the sound of a woman sobbing as she spoke. "My daughter isn't responding to me and I know something is wrong. She got in the car out front of this building. I just need you to look at the tapes for the license plate."

"Ma'am you said you had a fight with your daughter. It's possible she doesn't want to talk with you and is out with a friend. We cannot just show you our tapes," The security guard tried to reason with the woman. He just wanted to sit and watch a movie in peace.

"I have a mother's instinct that my child is in danger. Please help me!"

"Poor woman," Isabelle commented eavesdropping on the conversation as they walked by. She believed the woman knew her daughter was in trouble and it was true. A mother knows best. "I would take her claims seriously considering how many people are getting kidnapped or going missing nowadays."

"She should go to the police and get them involved. I'm sure they're taking any reports or suspected missing person case seriously."

"I highly doubt that. They don't consider it missing until a certain amount of days and not every person you don't hear from qualifies as missing. To anyone, it might seem like a daughter having enough of her mother and leaving home. No one is taking this kidnapping thing seriously," Helen said approaching the main entrance doors.

"True," Julie replied. She hadn't change anything about her daily routine with the increasing amount of people disappearing. She chose not to worry because she believed nothing like that would ever happen to her.

But you never know what the future has planned for you and those around you.

Helen halted her steps, extending her arms out wide on both sides to also stop the girls from walking past her, and said, "This is as far as you guys are taking me. Don't step outside."

She proceeded to walk out the doors over to the black limousine by herself. Right on cue, Eli stepped out also wearing casual clothes like a black long sleeve t-shirt and black jeans

'My oh my. The gym does wonders indeed,' She thought scanning how his muscles were practically protruding out the shirt.

"Sorry for being a bit late," She immediately started off the conservation with an apology for being fifteen minutes behind the proposed time.

Handing her a bouquet of roses, Eli shook his head not caring about the time. "It's not it's an hour or two hours late where I would think you're standing me up and laughing at me with your friends. By the way, am I supposed to wave or go say hello to them? They're not good at hiding."

Helen sighed turning around to see where her friends had attempted to hide. They were behind a small statue near the doorway. "Seriously," She commented almost in disbelief but these were her friends and she expected this much from them. "How about we just drive off and completely ignore them?" She proposed.

"I like that idea."

Eli stepped aside allowing Helen to enter the limousine and just before he was about to follow her inside, he looked in the direction of her friends who were still watching and smiled. He enjoyed watching them panic trying to hide better and two of them accidentally bumped heads. He laughed entering the limo and closing the door.

Without having to say a word the driver started the limo and started to drive off from the building.

"So, where are we going tonight?" She questioned not being able to contain her curiosity much longer.

"Golden empires hotel," Eli answered checking his watch. They will still be on time to enjoy the show he had planned.

" A hotel? That place doesn't have a restaurant for you to just dine in. Are we supposed to be going in a room? I don't know what idea you have of me that I would maybe sleep with you tonight just cause you booked a room. But I won't."

A hotel room just screamed let's fool around in her mind. She didn't see how a hotel room could have a grand ending to the three dates. Did he not think this through? It would be a waste of her time for entertaining this whole situation if he didn't.

"You have so little faith in me."

"Damn right I don't," Helen agreed with his statement. "You could be a creep, weirdo, or a murderer planning to kill me in this room you booked. We're still figuring each other out."

"I'm not a creep or a weirdo and if I wanted to murder you, why not do it when you visited my home?"
