Chapter Fifteen

Back at the mansion, Eve was just waking up from what had to be the most satisfying sleep she had had in a while.

It took her a few minutes to realize

Andrew was not in the room with her. He must have left before she woke up.

Eve covered her face in embarrassment when she remembered what had happened the other night. She had never been that close to a guy in her entire life.

Sure, he was cute but that didn't mean she should be throwing herself at him, asking him to sleep with her on the same bed.

The memory of it made her cheeks grow hot. Her room suddenly felt too hot. Using her hands to fan herself, she wondered what he would think of her. God forbid, she hoped he would not see her as a desperate woman looking for attention.

"Eve, get a grip. It's not like you had sex with the guy." She said to herself. She got out of bed and went straight for her bathroom. She was going to freshen up and act like nothing happened the other night.

Besides, nothing really happened. They were just two adults sleeping on the same bed. There was nothing weird about that.

After bathing and brushing her teeth, Eve wondered what she was going to wear. A sundress? Or a simple T-shirt and jeans? A sun dress sounded better. For a moment, she wondered why she was stressing about what to wear. It was not like she was going to impress anyone.

She just went with the sundress. After all, the blue sundress fit her dark skin. Looking at herself in the mirror for the last time, she told herself "Act like nothing happened."

Getting out of her room, she had to use the stairs. There was about four flights of stairs to get to the ground floor where the dining room was. When she reached the dining room, everyone was already seated for breakfast.

While Grandma Martha was seated at one end of the table, Alex and

Andrew were seated on either side.

"Hey, Eve! You came just in time." Alex waved at her before drawing out a seat for her. He wanted her to sit beside him and not beside the arrogant Andrew.

Eve smiled at Alex's silly tactics. His intentions were obvious.

"Good morning, grandma." She greeted her grandma only to receive a nod. Except Alex's usually jovial self, the entire dining room had this tense vibe in the air. Like there was a silent war going on.

Eve looked at Andrew. He had his head bent, concentrating on something he was doing with his phone. He was the only one that did not acknowledge her presence. Instead, he was busy with his phone. It irked her. So, she went to sit with

Alex.

Eve had planned to act like nothing happened but Andrew was already ahead of her, ignoring her.

Soon, the kitchen staff started bringing in breakfast, serving it on the table. Eve's eyes widened at the sight of the food in front of her. It was her favorite. She only spared the rest of the dishes a glance. But, kept staring at the egg sauce. She could already taste it. The tempting aroma was enough to salivate. Eve loved eating eggs. She was practically addicted to them.

"Are we not eating?" Eve asked. She could not start devouring her delicious breakfast unless grandma Martha gave thanks and ate first. That was their family's tradition.

"Let's give thanks." Grandma Martha as the Queen Witch kept her head high, while everyone else at the table bowed their heads.

"We thank Mother nature for this food given to us. ut teneamus statera naturae."

" Ut teneamus statera naturae." They all responded. Over her time here, Eve had learnt that the response was a latin phrase that meant "Let's keep nature balanced"

"Finally!" Eve muttered as she started devouring those delicious eggs. " Hmmm" she moaned. It tasted as delicious at she thought.

While Eve was busy with her meal, she didn't notice the attention she had gotten. Both Alex and Andrew stared at Eve as she enjoyed her meal.

Andrew's gaze dropped to her lips. He noticed the piece of food on the corner of her lips. How his Mistress managed to affect him without realizing it made him want to touch her, do things to her.

"Alex, Eve is not your food."

Andrew glared at Alex who was staring at Eve again. As her guardian, Andrew knew he had no rights over his Mistress. But, he couldn't tolerate the way Alex looked at her.

"You should listen to yourself. You are the one staring at her like she's your blood bag." Alex retorted. He never liked the night creatures. Though the night creature sitting across him was once a fairy cursed to be a night creature, that didn't mean he was going to tolerate him.

Left to Alex, Andrew would not sit with them. He was a vampire, a living curse of nature. By mother nature's rule, a filthy creature like him shouldn't commune with Powerful creatures like them. It was Grandma Martha's idea to invite him to the table since he was Eve's guardian.

On hearing Alex say "blood bag", Eve was reminded of Andrew being a Vampire. "l thought Vampires were supposed to drink only blood." She said out loud. She had thought that Vampires only drank blood and nothing else. At least, that was what Vampires in Twilight did.

"Are you offering yourself to me?" Andrew siezed that opportunity to tease her. He could hear her heart hitch before racing against her chest.

"I did not say that. I was only...."

"Thinking I'm like some Vampire on a television series?" He ra

"No!"

Andrew looked at her pointedly. He knew she was lying. It was obvious.

"Okay! Okay! That was what I thought

What do you expect me to think? You are the first vampire I've met." Now that she thought of it, he really was the only vampire she had met. Aside from his speed and strength, he was not like the Vampires she saw on television series.

Last night, when he had cuddled her to sleep, he felt warm. She had almost forgotten he was a vampire. He acted like nothing she had seen on TV.

Could it be because he was once fae? Besides, if he was cursed. What did he do? Or rather, what had she done to be cursed. According to Andrew, he had taken more of the curse as her guardian. She needed answers.

Maybe Andrew was right, she needed her memory back. It was not fair that someone suffered because of her.

Meanwhile, Andrew chuckled. It was not everyday his Mistress admitted to

things. "Alex, look at her again and lose your eyeballs." He didn't miss the look Alex kept giving her like a lost puppy.

"Mind your business." Alex retorted. "Eve, you should pack your stuff. We will be leaving for Faeland." Andrew informed Eve as he ate his breakfast.

Though it was not his usual preference, he ate it. He was not the type to waste food. Besides, he was in the Witches town, wasting food was a crime there. They believed food was nature's gift. Rejecting it or wasting it was an insult to Mother nature.

"She is going no where." Grandma

Martha opposed. She believed that Faeland was the most unsafe place for her granddaughter. Those dumb faes had dared to harm her daughter.

They were also after her granddaughter now. Nothing Andrew would say would convince her that it was safe.

"She has to! There's no better place to hide than there. That is the one place they wouldn't search for her!" Andrew was already losing his patience with this old lady. Doesn't she know that her mansion was the last place Eve should be? Damn it! It was obvious. It wasn't a question of if Sir Garfield knew where Eve was. It was a question of when would he attack.

" You can leave. But Eve should stay. She is safe here. I can easily protect her." Alex butted in.

" Oh, like how you protected her last night?" Andrew retorted. He was still annoyed at the fact that his Mistress's safety had been compromised the other night.

"She is not going anywhere. That's final!" Grandma Martha concluded.
