Martial Spirit Awakening

It's been fifteen years since I came to this strange new world. From what I know, it's called Earendel.

It is filled with a strange energy called spirit qi and people here who could harness this energy were cultivators.

Not everyone has the talent to become a Cultivator because not everyone has a martial spirit.

These martial spirits enable cultivators to absorb the spirit qi of heaven and earth to enable them to become superhuman in ways people back on earth had never thought possible. Which was why I felt sad that I had been excluded from the awakening ceremony.

My blindness had become the bane of my existence. After I was born, my father had invited powerful cultivators to check out my condition but there were no results. Eventually, he gave up on me and my mother and married another woman who gave birth to my younger brother John who had awakened his martial spirit and began cultivating.

Understanding my situation quite well, I rarely spoke and if I did, I did so only to my mother who treated me well despite falling out of favour with my father because of me.

I was never a quiet person back on earth so the estrangement by my family especially my father hit quite hard. But now I truly understand, that in this world power spoke the loudest, which was why I looked forward to partaking in the awakening ceremony only to be turned away and called trash.

Walking carefully back to my room, I sat on my bed and thought about all that I had experienced here so far and felt frustrated about my lack of strength.

Feeling sleepy, I lay my head to rest and fell into a deep sleep. I couldn't move due to some unknown pressure but when I opened my eyes, I knew that this was a dream of some sort because I "opened" my eyes.

Looking above in the direction of the unknown pressure, I saw a figure so huge I doubted my senses. It was a snake with diamond-like scales, a hood that seemingly blocked all light and purple eyes so beautiful that they were hypnotic. It stared at me for a while like I was prey and then launched at me.

Instead of swallowing whole like I thought it would, it suddenly turned ethereal and entered my forehead. Pain like I had never felt before assaulted me but I wasn't able to faint.

After what felt like hours, the pain stopped and I woke with a start.
