Waking up

Tik! Tok! Tik! Tok!

The sound of the clock ticking near her woke her from her sleep. Rochelle opened her eyes slowly, she coughed to clear her throat.

She stared to the white ceiling, recalling the last thing that she did. She expected to be in the hospital at least if it was possible that she had survived the accident.

She had jumped from such a tall building that she couldn't believe that she made it out alive. "I should get up and leave before the hospital bill increases," she thought.

With her financial status, she was in position to lazy around in a hospital bed. She didn't have that kind of luxury of time or money.

She sat up on the bed and looked around the room. Her eyes widen with shock at the scene that was right before her eyes.

The room looked one of those bedrooms from the mafia movies she had watched. With her naked eyes she could spot a make up table that had all the latest designs of make up boxes on.

A jewelry wardrobe with a glass door that was transparent. Inside her eyes feasted on diamonds, gold and many more expensive jewelry. From earrings to anklets.

There was nothing lacking inside, and it stretched very long. She gulped. It was as though she had woken up in a dream of some kind.

There was a coffee table in the room that had fruits from one end to the next. The room had fourdoor, one that led to the balcony that was open allowing the sun's rays into the room and the other one which she assumed led to the rest of the house that was locked. The other two, she guessed that either led to the bathroom or something else.

She looked down at the bed she laid on and swallowed hard. It was a massive sized bed that she never even knew existed. She could roll around eight times on the bed and still not fall off, the bed underneath her feet was so soft that she could sleep in it for year's without ever feeling the need to wake up.

She felt the duvet cover in her hands and let out a sweet moan at how soft it felt under her palms. "This is heaven," she thought.

She hurriedly pinched herself. "Ouch," she let out in pain.

"I can feel pain so it is not a dream," she uttered. She hurriedly got up from the bed. She rushed to the dressing table, she looked at her image in the mirror. She was surprised at how soft her skin looked, if she wasn't wrong she would think that it was Raya's reflection that she was seeing.

She suddenly stopped, she felt a sharp pain in her knees. Her joints were so painful including her bones. "How long was I asleep?"

She waited a couple of minutes taking deep breaths to ease her pain. She needed to explore the room and see how many more expensive things there were there. She didn't know where she was or how she got there but it didn't matter to her.

Once the pain reduced a bit, she moved to the jewelry closet and opened it. She picked up a diamond necklace and wore it around her neck, she glanced at her reflection in the mirror with the diamond necklace around her neck and flashed a bright smile.

"This is what suits me the best. This is me anf the life that I deserve," she spoke happily.

She walked to the study table she saw, it was neatly arranged, the laptop was opened. What was written in it looked like a report of some sort which she couldnt understand. She never studied business so it made no sense to her. She moved her eyes to the beat handwriting on the book next to the laptop.

She tried her hands on top of the writings, she couldnt believe it. Not only was she rich but she could also write well. Since childhood, she always had to suffer being compared to her sister when it came to their writing. It didn't matter how hard she tried, she could never perfect it like her sister could.

She moved and opened the door near the study table. Pushing it open and sneaking a peak inside she froze, inside the room were luxurious dresses, shoes, bags, coats, hats of all kinds of designer brands. She could hardly believe that she was there.

The room seemed to stretched far and wide, just to be sure, she walked in and tried to find it's end. She kept picking clothes and shoes here and there pretending that she was shopping in one of those rich people malls.

She even spoke with a fake British accent to none existing attendants. She toured the room for a long time only seeing the brands of the clothes changing but no end. She walked until she reached the men's section.

"Is this a private mall?" She thought. She was no tomboy to buy men's clothing for her own personal use. She decided to walk back and finish the tour when her body wasn't screaming at her.

She returned to the room with the clothes she had selected. She wanted to run a parade and try them out. Pretend like she was walking on the red carpet like her sister always did.

She couldnt wait to see her twin sister again and show off everything that she had. She had thought about it and the only conclusion she could come up with was simple.

She was a damsel in distress who had a rich CEO loving her from the shadows. So when she jumped off the roof, he could no longer hide his feelings and brought her to live in his big mansion with all the luxury that her heart desired so that she never feels like leaving.

She had her own big shot just like in the movies. And the world would now know her name. Surprising enough the first dress she tried on fot her perfectly like it was made for her.

She read the logo on the dress, RG designs. She frowned recognising it, it was one of her sisters dresses. She had launched them at the start of the year. She absolutely hated the dress and tried to take it off.

She was so angry to have not checked before putting it on that she didn't care how she took it off.

"Trrr," she heard as the dress tore while she was struggling to get it off. She scoffed. "You deserve it for being designed by her," she let out.

Pap!

Rochelle raised her gaze holding her cheek. Her ear was ringing from the loud, harsh slap that had just landed in her cheek. She froze when she saw who it was that stood before her.

Her heart nearly jumped out of her chest and ran off from the cold and piercing gaze the male before her was giving her. "How dare you wear her clothes and ruin them?"

She gulped. She looked down at the dress that had torn and backed away from the man. Her heart was thundering in her chest, she was getting back to reality. The dream was over.

"Who gave you permission to wonder around this room?" He asked her. His voice getting louder and harsher. His dommeenering aura demanding her submission.

Rochelle bit her lower lip and nervously played with her fingers. She was not only unable to meet his gaze but also too scared to move from her spot. In all her life she had never met anyone as cold at the man right in front of her.

She thought if she waited then her susterveould rush into the room and save her from the ice husband of hers that was almost freezing her to death with his words.

"Why are you yelling at me. Why not go and ask Raya, she must have been the one to bring me here," she fired back angrily. He had no right to yell at her when Raya was to blame.

But she grabbed the hems of her dress in panic and moved back a lot more when she saw the change in his eyes. He went from mad to furious.

'What did I say wrong?' Rochelle wondered. Ander took steps forward towards her, she backed away from him. Sweat trickled down her back from the fear she had. Her gut told her that she was done for.

She backed away until her back hit the wall. Ander closed the distance between them and locked her in place by placing his hands on both of her sides.

"After killing your sister you dare ask me to go and ask her?" Ander asked her. Rochelle froze hearing his words.

His words rang in her ear and poured down on her like ice cold water. She shook at the news. "Tell me you ungrateful bitch, where am I supposed to find her. Will you bring her back for me?" Andre asked digging his nails into her skin.

Rochelle was so shocked that she couldnt belief what he was saying. How, why and when? We're the questions that came to mind. Yes, she was mad at her sister and in anger she might have said a lot of things about her but she would never wish death upon her.

"You wanted an easy life so badly that you snatched her life to get everything that belonged to her. Shameless," Ander spoke and threw her to the ground.

Rochelle recalled the wish that she had made at the rooftop before she jumped off. She had wishes for her sister's life to be destroyed so that she could take her place. To walk in her shoes and enjoy what it was like to be her.

"Let me make one thing clear, your sister's last wish might have been for you to live as her but you will leave as per my rules," he warned to her. "You Rochelle are a failure and you better not drag your bad luck to my late wife's name," he threatened.

He cupped her jaw and forced her to look up at him. "The only reason that I kept you here alive and cared for you while you were in a comma is only because Raya's heart is beating in your body," he said.

Rochelle froze, she brought her hand to her chest and felt her heartbeat. Her mind was so confused, she had no idea what had happened and why?

"Your life is mine and don't get ahead of yourself and think you can enjoy your sister's hard work," he said to her. " And one more thing, don't you ever forget that you are only borrowing your sister's identity. After five years that she asked for, I will not hesitate to throw you back to the gutter where you belong," he added and let go of her.

Rochelle could hardly stop her tears from flowing. She was so lost in what just happened, Ander got dressed and left the room leaving her on the ground in tears.

Rochelle got up from the floor and rushed to the laptop she saw earlier. Her sister was a bigshot, everything about her would be put online.

She googled any tragedy that could have happened to her sister.

<<Breaking news, Raya Guerra's twin Rochelle falls from rooftop. She dies sadly but her heart lives on in her sister Raya with whom she became a donor. She will forever be remembered as our hero>>

Rochelle's heart shattered into pieces. She was the one who jumped off the rooftop but it her sister that died. Her perfectly healthy sister gave up her heart to save her who was never worthy of it.

She lowered her gaze from the laptop. Her eyes fell on a letter on the table that was marked, to Rochelle. It was her twin's handwriting.

In the past, she would have ignored any such letter but not today. She picked it up and opened it quickly. She read opened the letter before her eyes and read it.
