Witchcraft and Covenant

Hadrian came back and told Susan,since Peter was tired from the fight with Maugrim and Lucy was with the Beavers.

Peter emerges from his tent and notices Oreius walking past.

Oreius stops and looks behind him,while Peter follows his gaze to see Aslan,Hadrian and Edmund are on a rock above camp, deep in conversation but nothing can be heard.

Lucy and Susan emerge from their tent and notice Peter. They also turn to see what he is looking at.

Susan really belived Hadrian will bring back Edmund,a part of her new this was because of growing feelings for the boy.

At the same time Lucy seeing Edmund shouted"Edmund!"She tries to run towards him.But Peter stops her much to her confusion. Edmund turns at the sound of her voice. Aslan finishes his conversation with Edmund and they both come down towards the others.

Aslan told everyone"What's done is done. There is no need to speak to Edmund about what is past."

Aslan walks away, while Edmund still feeling guilty muttered an awkward"Hello." as Lucy hugs him and Susan joins in too,after all they missed there brother and they could tell,he suffered a lot under the so called Queen.

Edmund looks relieved as Susan questions"Are you all right?"

Edmund answered"I'm a little tired."

Peter then added"Get some sleep. And Edmund...try not to wander off."

Edmund smiles and walks into the tent.At that time Susan walks off and find Hadrian and and spoke up"Thank you for bringing,Edmund back."

Hadrian waved it off and replied"No problem,also there was others with me."

Then there was silence,so Susan spoke up"Could you help me with my bow."

Hadrian nodded and he taught her the basics,Susan was natural with the bow.It was amazing as arrows started to hit the target and close to the centre with each shot.

For small time Lucy joined in,she showed her knife throwing skills too.

But Susan was only one,who stayed back and practiced,since she was needed for the war.

Hadrian seeing she is tired said"We can rest for now."

Susan nodded and both sat in silence,so Susan spoke up"Maybe we can talk about magic from my world."

Hadrian nodded explained"Magic was well known in past,but as time went on it started to be feared and the result was the Salem witch hunts."

Susan understood and asked"You said some of them are still alive?"

Hadrian nodded and replied"Five familes escaped the witch hunts and founded of the Ipswich colony.All of them created the Covenant of Silence (referred to simply as the Covenant) is a set of strict rules in order to protect themselves from further persecution. Its main guideline is to never expose their possession of The Power to the public outside of those trusted by the four families to keep the truth about it secret. It also prohibits its warlocks from ever willing someone else in the Covenant their share of The Power to other members of the Covenant."

Susan nodded,Hadrian continued"But the problem with this power it remains dormant within the male user until his 13th birthday, during which the user "gets a taste" of The Power.The user is granted untold power that grows more powerful with each year until he ascends to full power on the eve of his 18th birthday."

Susan narrowed her eyes and asked"There is catch,right?"

Hadrian nodded and replied"Upon ascending is that the power becomes their very life.Thus, when one uses it too much, they age prematurely each time until they burn out their body through over-usage, and if one wills their power away, they will die instantly."

Susan curious asked"Is it hard for them to stop using?"

Hadrian sighed and replied"After ascending,the more you use it.The more addicting it becomes and very hard to resist it's call unless you stop using it completely before ascending."

Susan could guess many fell to this power,while she asked"So all these five familes are still alive in my time?"

Hadrian shook his head and replied"John Putnam a member of the fifth family, the Putnams, in the Covenant fell the lull of the power, while other four families used their powers as little as possible to avoid being exposed to the public and persecuted by the people and to avoid becoming addicted to using their powers unnecessarily,John used his as often as possible, resulting in his family and himself being persecuted by the Ipswich colonies."

Susan sighed and said"Well, that was very interesting."

After it is not a very day, you hear about magic existing in your world.She now had more open mind then before about things and she was much more accepting.
