They must now play heroes to redeem mankind back to it's former glory... but the question is, WOULD THEY BE STRONG AND EXPERIENCED ENOUGH? Follow the journey of three teenage highschoolers as they fight for freedom with magic and bravery! ________________________________________ AUTHOR'S NOTE FOR THE READER Hi there, if you're really a fan of fantasy novels dealing with magic especially in an urban setting, young teenage characters, a dash of romance in-between a serious and thrilling story mood, a well-described fight scene, then guess what? this is the right book for you! Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying you shouldn't read if you aren't a fan of books involving any of the categories I mentioned above, I strongly recommend this book to anyone who loves reading. However, I would like you to know that I am a very cinematic writer, so try not to get lost at any point in the story because I use the chronological plot with the involvement of lots of flashbacks and flash-forwards. Also, I love to hide information from my readers and reveal them at a specific time when I wish. So while reading, try to be patient. I won't disappoint you or kill your interest, thanks. NINE MONTHS AGO PT.2

[Detention Class, Neville Roosevelt High, NY]

A very spacious classroom with three long columns having sixteen rows of chair in each. Shelby, Julia, and Jordan sat quietly minding each other's space and privacy in the detention class. Julia sat at the first column on the left, Jordan was at the third column on the right, leaving Shelby at the second column in the middle of both.

" Isn't this detention too boring? " Shelby asked with a weary look on his face. He waves the book in his left hand in the air. " I can't even grasp any fun from this historical novel. " He says.

" Just shut up and pick something else to read. " Jordan retorts. He had his legs crossed and stretched on the table in front of him. He also had his eyes and his full attention on the video game he played with great diligence through his portable play station device. " I'm pretty sure you picked that book because you're trying to impress bookworm over there. " He says, moving his chin towards the direction of Julia. Julia also had a book with her and she was completely drowned in it's pages, so deep she could barely take note of the exact words she heard while the boys talked.

" That's not true...I read a lot...pfft, I enjoy reading, reading is my thing. " Shelby stutters while trying to make both his statement and action appear as casual and as usual as possible.

" The way you sound is enough proof... " Jordan says slowly with his eyes glued with glee to his game.

" Enough proof that? "

" ... enough proof that you're nothing but a dumb liar. " He sighs.

" Hey!... remember I kicked your ass back at the school's courtyard, don't make me do it again. " Shelby warns, fully turning to face him while he sat.

" You wish! ... I nearly broke your nose with my first punch. " Jordan ignores his game this time and chortles.

" Why don't we see who's better then? Since you're suddenly feeling so cocky because of lady bookworm over there. " Shelby smirks, standing up to his feet.

" Exactly what I was thinking, dumbo! " Jordan also gets up energetically.

" Can you two for once act like grown ups?! "Julia yells. " Jeez, your loud talks are disturbing my reading. " She groans in anger.

" He started it! "

They both chorus, pointing fingers at each other.

" Damn. " Julia mutters and smacks her forehead in disappointment. " I just wish you two would just go mute for like the next.... nine months! " She blurted out the last part subconsciously out of anger.

" What the hell, Julia? " Shelby mutters in shock and turns to face her.

" What?! " Julia asked, not realizing she had said nine months.

" Nine months? Really? " Jordan points out.

" Did I...oh forget it. " She buries her head back in the book she read.

" Happy now?... " Shelby says through gritted teeth to Jordan. " ...you got her all mad at us. " he adds softly underneath his breath.

" Was it me, or was it you?... " Jordan squabbles back and so does Shelby, their childish bickering goes on for about fifteen seconds before one of the windowpanes shatter into a million pieces without taking any impact. All three students paused whatever they were doing as their heads turned rhythmically slow towards the broken window.

" You didn't touch that window, did you? " Jordan whispers to Shelby.

" Of course not. I'm literally standing right beside you, dummy. "

Julia sighs and turns back to bury her head in the book she was reading. " someone must have thrown a stone or something. " She mutters inaudibly.

" Yeah, but you'd know that's not possible when you realize we're the only students in school premises. " Jordan states.

" Then maybe it was...a school staff? " Shelby says while wincing at how his words sounded, Jordan facepalms himself with a very heavy sigh. " let's just say it was a very strong wind... " He concludes and a soft gentle wind sweeps across the room a second after.

" whatever... " Julia flips a page to the next.

" A strong wind would have shattered all the windows tho, not just one. " Shelby points out while going towards the broken window to have a closer look.

" Yeahh... " Jordan agrees and makes a confused face. " ...is it that with you, being smart is seasonal or you just accidentally said something smart now. " He adds and Shelby totally ignores him verbally by only making a silly mocking face.

" I think... " a heavy gust of wind storms the entire room from nowhere and this time, the entire windows shatter sending one of the pieces across Shelby's forehead creating a gap between his flesh and another piece right into Julia's left shoulder as they all flew to different directions across the room, the tables and chairs also got thrown into the air and regained different positions on landing.

" shit.. " Jordan mumbled in deep agony, he had a table sitting on his chest. As if this unexplainable occurrence wasn't enough, something more strange began to take place, the three students now beheld series of black lightning gradually flash and spark across the room in increasing amounts at each spark, a gradually increasing spiral wind still moved around as a dark hole was instantaneously birthed right in the middle of their detention class.

" Jordan, you seeing this? " Shelby was absolutely gobsmacked as he spoke from a different direction in the room with his back against the wall he had gotten smashed into earlier. A response didn't come from Jordan, but he was definitely witnessing the whole fiction and so was Julia. The dark hole in a short while after blowing series of winds here and there introduced the intensifying presence of two magical beings in a hot and fierce hand-to-hand battle that was so fast it seemed like the clash of a white and black fiery lightning bolt to the eyes of Shelby, Jordan, and Julia.

" Give up Isis...I'm clearly stronger with the help of the other six pieces of Mercury. " The Demon King, Casta roared violently and it sounded like the voice of a descending god to the ears of the three students who had every hair on their body standing pointedly like toothpicks, not an inch did they move from where they sat, sweating, shaking, and gulping loads of saliva through their dry throats.

" ... you'll have to try harder, Casta! " Isis groans in response. In logical time, the fight lasted for another thirty minutes right in the detention class, but witnessing it happen felt like a mere two minutes. The room had become enveloped with magic energy that it seemed to operate differently than the other parts of the Earth, a separate dimension had been created from an intense battle.

" Death is inevitable for you, Isis... leader of the Ghostbloods. " Casta smirks having grabbed his enemy by the neck and gradually squeezes the breath out of him. " I must say, you've fought well. But this is the sad pitiful end for you and your kind. " He adds as Isis chokes out, he had his entire forehead bleeding and it didn't seem like he had an escape trick up his sleeves this time around. His eyes gradually dwindles as he falls into the cold hands of death.

" I'll have that piece of Mercury now. " Casta uses his other hand like a spear and dips it into the chest of Isis and begins to pull gradually as jets of radiating light stream out alongside. He groans and yells in intense pain as he finally turns his head towards Shelby and the others who stared in utmost fright with an immobilized soul.

" Have a piece of me... " Isis mutters and he totally explodes into millions of light particles like dusts followed by an overwhelming dazzling light that sends everyone and everything in sight into a blackout.
