Chapter Nine

Summer watched as Su Xia walked out of the hospital room, finishing the last bite of grilled rice. After tidying up the small table, she took out the notebook from under the pillow and continued drawing.

The notebook depicted a delicate and small woman's smiling face.

Summer, with a smile on her face, carefully and earnestly continued drawing...

The family member of the patient next to her tilted their head curiously and said, "I didn't expect you to be able to draw! That's great, not only do you look handsome, but you also draw so well."

Summer looked up, said nothing, and then lowered her head to continue drawing.

The person looked at the drawing and asked in confusion, "Is this your girlfriend? It looks quite like her, hmm, very nice, quite beautiful!"

Summer smiled and nodded repeatedly.

The person was stunned. It was the first time he had seen Summer smile. It seemed that he had touched a chord in him. Not to mention, he looked really good when he smiled.

In the doctor's office, the doctor earnestly explained Summer's condition to Su Xia, "Your boyfriend is recovering well. We will conduct a comprehensive examination tomorrow. If there are no issues, he can be discharged the day after tomorrow."

Su Xia said happily, "Thank you, Dr. Qin."

Dr. Qin looked up and continued, "Don't be too happy yet. There is still some blood stasis in his head. If he feels unwell, he should come to the hospital immediately. Also, even if there are no symptoms, he should come to the hospital regularly for check-ups."

Su Xia remembered everything Dr. Qin said.

"That's all, Miss Su, you can go back now. Remember to have the patient fast tomorrow morning for the examination." Dr. Qin instructed Su Xia.

Su Xia nodded and left the doctor's office. She stopped at the end of the corridor, looking at the window.

It was already evening, with the sun setting and casting a yellow light into the window. Su Xia couldn't help but think of the phrase "The sunset is infinitely good, just near dusk."

Su Xia smiled, turned around, and walked towards the ward.

When she opened the door, Summer saw that Su Xia had returned, and his eyes lit up. He was about to get out of bed to put on his shoes.

"Why are you getting down? Sit back! You can be discharged in a few days. Don't be in a hurry! Wait until you're discharged! You can do whatever you want..." Su Xia playfully teased Summer.

Summer obediently sat back, but his face was a little dark.

"The doctor said you can't eat anything tomorrow morning. You have to fast for the examination. If there's nothing wrong, you can be discharged! So, while you're still in the hospital, you should sit for a while longer."

In the evening, Summer insisted that Su Xia sleep on the bed and wrote in his notebook, "I slept a lot during the day, and I'm not sleepy at all at night."

"Okay, I'll sleep for a while, and you wake me up in the middle of the night."

Summer nodded quickly, watched Su Xia lie down and tucked her in, then walked to the small chair and sat down, continuing to draw in the notebook.

From time to time, he would look up to see if Su Xia had kicked off the blanket.

Su Xia was awakened in the early morning by her phone ringing. She quickly turned it off, looked up at Su Xia, and saw the little figure curled up in bed, sleeping soundly. She was not awakened by the ringtone, so she sat back on the chair with relief.

After waiting for another half an hour, Summer got up and walked to the bedside, bent down, and gently patted Su Xia's shoulder.

Seeing Su Xia's dazed eyes open, she quickly turned on her phone, held it up to Su Xia's eyes, and smiled as she watched Su Xia's still dazed gaze.

Su Xia squinted her eyes as the phone screen brightened, nodded, rubbed her eyes, and sat up, supporting herself with her arms.

Summer took back the phone, looked at Su Xia's still confused look, pursed his lips, and smiled.

He grabbed the notebook and wrote, "Hurry up, you're going to be late for work!"

Su Xia, with her eyes half-closed, said, "Hmm, what do you want to eat? I'll go buy breakfast." As she said this, she tried to put on her shoes and leave.

Summer quickly pulled her back, pointing at the notebook and quickly wrote, "Didn't they say you have to fast for the examination? You can't eat breakfast."

"Oh! Right! I forgot, hehe!"

"Then I'll go back home to change clothes and then ask for leave at the company."

Su Xia turned around and said seriously, "Can you do the check-up by yourself? Or should I accompany you for the check-up before leaving?"

Summer shook his head, wrote a few more words, and handed them to Su Xia. "No need, I can walk. I'm either sitting or lying down every day. I want to walk around."

Su Xia hesitated, wanting to say something, but Summer shook his head at her.

After Su Xia left, the nurse took Summer for the examination.

As they walked, Summer became the "most beautiful scenery," and the nurses who passed by couldn't help but stop and stare at him.

The nurse who was with Summer covered her mouth shyly.

At the company, Su Xia took the signed leave form from the editor-in-chief and went to the HR department.

After the HR manager read the leave form Su Xia handed over, he exclaimed, "What's wrong with your editor-in-chief? He actually gave you such a long leave!"

"I haven't taken a break for over half a year. The editor-in-chief made a special allowance this time."

"Great! Have a pleasant vacation!"

Back at her desk, Su Xia started packing up. Yu Nan came over with a smile, "You have a few days off. What are you going to do?"

Su Xia thought, what else could she do? Of course, she would find a family for Summer, but she couldn't tell Yu Nan about this.

"I haven't had a good rest for half a year. I plan to sleep for three days and three nights first!" Su Xia said with her hands on her hips, looking proud.

Yu Nan was a little speechless. "What a lack of ambition. Why not go out for a trip? Broaden your horizons!"

"Good idea! I'll go broaden my horizons!"

Yu Nan helped Su Xia pack up and sent her to the door. "Have fun, and come back soon!" Giving Su Xia a hug.

"Xiaoyu, what are you doing? You're acting like it's a life-and-death separation! Go on, I'll wait for you to come back!" Su Xia put on her backpack and walked out.

Yu Nan watched Su Xia walk away and then turned back to continue with her work.

Lu Sichen chased after her, catching up to Su Xia. "Su Xia, wait! Um, do you have time tonight? I want to treat everyone to dinner, will you come?"

"Sorry, I'm not free tonight."

"Okay, then how about tomorrow?"

"I'm not free tomorrow either. I've already made plans for these days," Su Xia replied.

"Okay, then when you have time, just let me know, and I'll treat you to dinner?" Lu Sichen sounded a bit disappointed.

Su Xia readily agreed, "Sure! I'll let you know when I'm free. I'll go now, you should go back too."

Su Xia turned and left.
