Chapter 11 : Inconsistency

Ten minutes came and went and the field team had left the ship once the ship had landed in a forest clearing, where it was deemed safe to land.

The objective had been as stated, to recover what crash landed here and Vorand the dwarven man had led the group.

Skolas and Michael followed Vorand closely with Lila the elven woman walking slower behind them since she was busy checking out the forest.

Vorand notified Skolas to go ahead and check out the area ahead faster than the group considering his capabilities while he kept Michael close just in case there was a situation that may happen as well as report back over the comms device they all carried on their person.

Lila would handle anything particularly complicated regarding the goods that landed here but that was left up to when they found it. The jungle was large and the remains of the ship could not be seen from above, the smoke that came from the ship had ceased and all that remained was whatever was shrouded by the jungle itself.

There wasn't enough information about this planet to make any major educated guesses as to what made this place unique but the elven woman had a few theories as she walked closer to the field captain and Michael.

'' The trees here are of a unique strain, they grow at great speeds and recover from any potential tampering. '' She spoke with some clear knowledge but to anyone not in the know it came off confusing.

'' What're you talking about? How do you know? '' Vorand replied.

'' The trees have no scorch marks from overhead, even if the ship crash landed we'd at least see the trees that were destroyed due to the ship's size but it looks like the wildlife here grows at an exponential rate and not much can change the ecosystem here. Even if such a short time has passed, the wildlife here is clearly in control. With that being said, let's not do anything to anger the forest. Who knows how sentient the wildlife here might be. '' Lila responded with a disassociated tone.

She didn't really care for her fellow members on the field team but merely stated it as to keep away from any potential hassles if someone got themselves in a rough situation.

She didn't want to waste any time at all trying to help them if they could just avoid it in the first place.

As this was going on, Sai was watching farther back from the walkway of the ship that opened up from the back of the vessel where they weren't aware that he was observing their progress.

He knew he needed to watch them in a way that made them unaware of his presence.

Clearly they'd act differently if they knew they were being evaluated directly although they did have the tension of knowing this was their first mission therefore they should put their best foot forward.

Sai remembered this mission, it was a simple pick up from the ship without any problems but what happened next caught him by surprise.

Skolas's voice spoke over the comms device, mentioning something that Sai had not recalled.

'' There is a group of Elven folk here checking out the area, what would you have me do, Field Captain? '' Skolas asked, waiting for an answer.

Vorand had gone silent, he was trying to weigh his options in his head and he was clearly wondering whether or not they should come in peace or aggression.

With that all being up in the air, Lila the elven woman in the group did not wait for Vorand to answer.

She had ran towards the direction Skolas had gone in, leaving the remaining two to also follow.

'' Michael, we must go ! Darn it, why did she move without my command! '' Vorand screamed as he followed after Lila.

Sai would follow as well, keeping enough distance to watch without being found out and eventually they would get there after a few minutes had passed and unlike Skolas who was watching from a nearby tree branch, Lila had walked out in the open forest area to catch another Elven woman with short white hair and a the same skin tone as her who was standing next to a crashed ship covered in tree vines thick enough to keep it binded with the soil underneath it.

Sai had watched from a distance, just as Vorand,Michael and Skolas did to see what was going on.

Sai's eyes would widen once he heard what Lila had said as she spoken to the woman.

'' What're you doing here, Sister? ''

Sai's recollection of these events had now gone into a spiral, this event had not happened and he wasn't sure what would happen from this point onward.

Could his memories of the past be reliable enough to navigate the remaining time he had spent with the squadron now that he knew deviations exist?
