Chapter 40 : I'll Go

With a sleepy yawn, I stretched and reached across the bed. My hand fell against empty bed sheets.

Creasing my brow, I opened my eyes and looked at the empty bed beside me. Kain wasn’t there.

I wrapped the sheet around myself and sat up, looking around my bedroom. Was everything just a dream? But the soreness in my body clearly reminded me that Kain was here and we’d had a passionate night….

My cheeks burned and I curled my knees to my chest. Knowing it was my first time, Kain had been sweet and gentle with me, making sure I felt all the pleasure I could. He took good care of me like he always had.

Just thinking about it made my stomach squirm pleasantly.

I laughed and flopped back on the pillow, spreading my arms out to the sides.

My hand hit something hard on the other pillow. Sitting up again, I reached for the little object.

It was a small box with a mini envelope attached. I pulled the envelope off the velvet little box and slid the card out.
