Chapter 41 : Are You Sure About Him?

I left the conference room. My father hadn’t given me a lot of time to get ready for the trip, and I wanted to make sure I had time to pack everything I needed.

Rex followed me closely but silently.

I wasn’t surprised. Now that he was back on duty, he’d be my bodyguard again. I was glad to have him back. He made me feel safe and other security guards didn’t have that same effect.

Glancing sideways, I saw the ever-so-subtle frown on Rex’s lips. If I’d been more than a few steps away from him, I wouldn’t have seen it.

I creased my brow. Something was bothering him, but I didn’t expect him to just come out and say it.

“I didn’t know you’d be back today,” I said, striking up a conversation. “Were you happy to have a bit of a break? It must have been nice to have a day off, was it?”

Rex shifted his eyes to me. He didn’t stop walking and we headed into the gardens between my father’s wing and mine.
