She tried her best to breathe slowly.
Inhale... Exhale...
The knocks persisted, growing louder and more insistent.
Summoning her strength, she stood up and attempted to steady herself. Though feeling woozy, she composed herself.
"It's okay. It's only me," she murmured, placing a hand on her racing heart and another on her stomach. She focused on counting her deep breaths, willing herself to regain control. Gradually, her closed eyes fluttered open, revealing a narrow slit.
*Bang! Bang! Bang!*
She sighed, recognizing the urgency in the knocks, and made her way towards the door.
Placing her hands on the wooden surface, she peered through the slender gap between the door and the doorframe, squinting to get a clearer view.
Relief washed over her as she caught sight of the familiar jet black hair. She glanced down and noticed the figure clad in dark clothing. In the castle, such attire was uncommon.
