FATE/Probability

An exploration of possibilities of shirou emiya, a character who always felt shackled by the wheel of FATE. If an injured soul merges with the body that will one day be called the "wrought iron hero" how far we can stretch fate... . . . . . . . . . well, this is a try to take one of my most liked and disliked characters for me and see how could they have been as the name says a probability with the least tragedy as the world of nasuverse is allergic to happy endings without trauma. There is no system here even tho I personally like them but a system will defeat the point of this plot ohh and there will not be all sunshine and rainbows as in fate that's realistically not possible. so let's get this started !! (I don't own the type moon stuff the ocs are my creation and all other stuff belongs to the original creator.)

Chapter 41: Time Alter

After a few days, shirou could cope with the pain of the crest fragment but the fragment showed a tendency to spontaneously activate and deactivate immediately. Melvin had said that the crest would behave like this to get acquainted with the new host body as he had already tuned the frequency of shirou and the crest to be very close.

Shirou`s leaves ran out hence he went to school after applying a medicinal patch on his shoulder. Walking on the road he slightly smiled at the irony of the situation. He remembered how he had caught the scent of medicine Rin used to suppress her crest during the initial days.

He now had a newfound respect for Rin after experiencing the process of crest transfer. Even when suffering from the side effect of having the whole of her family crest transferred at once she maintained that outward elegant dementor.

Thinking of this he reached the school and went along his day. Shinji was bragging as usual and Issei wanted to discipline Shinji by having him experience monk training. After the verbal dogfight, Shirou bailed and went to the rooftop.

On the roof, he meets his closest friend Rin tohsaka who as he guessed was pretty worried about him but tried to not show it and asked while attempting to maintain a calm face

"Shirou, how did the crest transfer go?"

Smiling at Rin`s attempt to appear disinterested shirou said

"good afternoon Tohsaka."

They discussed crest transfer and its risks and with the flow, Rin slowly lost that dementor and reverted to how she usually behaved with him after their spars. She repeatedly warned shirou to be careful and not ignore the risks.

Even after he agreed she was still insistent as during these instances she had become familiar enough with shirou to notice his apparent disregard for injuries and risks. She lectured him till they were forced to leave due to the bell and shirou looked at her retreating back with a light genuine smile visible on his face.

Time passed by and the week came to an end.

In the morning shirou finished drawing a part of a magic circle on the attic`s floor. While moving to the kitchen to prepare breakfast shirou was called by his father into the bedroom sealed by bounded fields.

There the father and son pair sat in front of each other and the older emiya calmly drank tea. Finishing the tea, kiritsugu put the now empty teacup down and said

"Shirou now that the transfer of emiya crest to you is set in stone. I would like to talk about the emiya family magecraft." hearing this shirou eagerly looked at kiritsugu and then the man said

"Our magecraft has a less used attribute of time, similar to space the attribute of time faces a lot of resistance from the planet hence making them extremely taxing to use. Plus the variations that can be made in it are also very small in number."

"I don't have a lot of knowledge about attributes and resistance of the planet so I will skip this and talk about the emiya family magecraft. Its specific function is manipulation with the flow of time."

"Most of the knowledge was lost when Clock Tower took them hence I will say the very basics I know as well as the spells I have personally created and the rest you have to find out yourself."

"It is said that there was someone in the past who had a reality marble that accelerated and accelerated the flow of time according to the will of its owner. Inspired by this the emiya family`s magecraft came into being and is called innate time control "

"What is a reality marble?" asked shirou as he felt a sense of importance from the term

"I will describe what a reality marble is to you after the explanation but I myself am not clear about the topic of reality marble." replied kiritsugu and then continued about the family

"The concept that it is based on is that if the root is the origin of everything and the place where everything would end then a way to root should be present at the beginning and the end of universe."

"Hence the plan was to accelerate the flow of time in an area so much that it reaches the end time and universe and thereby the root. The area is a bounded field but my father concluded that to achieve this the bounded field needed to be as small as possible but even then there were a lot of flaws in his plans."

"Moving on there is nothing left in Crest except some knowledge of how to modify the flow of time and just the spell structure to do so. Hence to use that in combat I made 2 techniques that barely qualify as a spell."

"They are accel and stagnate respectively and the spell is called time alter. Acell as the name says accelerates the flow of time, you can create a bounded field on your body with your skin as the boundary hence separating your internal from the environment."

"The spell accel can be used to then accelerate the flow of time inside the boundary hence making the time inside pass faster and when you move in that state the difference is the rate of flow of time between inside and outside makes you faster sharper and stronger. But the side effects are huge, when you cancel the bounded field all the backlash of the movements you did in accelerated time catches up to you at once."

"For example "double accel" the spell that doubles the speed of time hence allowing you to move twice as fast that means when 1 second has passed for others 2 seconds have passed for you."

Kiritsugu then went on and explained how fatigue catches up to you at once and using double accel is like performing a set of workouts at your maximum capacity. Under Shirou's questioning kiritsugu also explained about triple and quadruple accel and that they are effectively fatal.

Intrigued by this shirou asked how kiritsugu was able to use them multiple times in the holy grail war even when they were supposed to be fatal. Looking at his son kiritsugu said in a very serious tone of voice

"Don't have any delusions shirou, they are fatal but during the war, I had King Arthur's relic her scabbard the Avalon. As long as she was summoned the relic acted as a noble phantasm by drawing energy from her hence healing all my wounds."

"During each use of the spell during the war my heart had burst open and my muscles were ripped apart from the backlash of the spell but were immediately healed by the noble phantasm. and we don't have her here hence don't even think of trying them."

Hearing this shirou was very concerned for his father as he understood that the man had effectively died multiple times during the war. Then remembering his deaths during his visions shirou steeled his nerves and though

< Dad has pushed through all of that so how can I be afraid of pain and death in a vision?>

This proved that neither the boy nor his father had noticed the apathy shirou had developed to the thoughts of injury, his mindset had slowly shifted to the thought that as long as it can be healed the injury is not worth mentioning.

After this kiritsugu explained stagnate the technique that slows down his biological function hence improving stealth. 1 second for him to stretch to accommodate the modification hence the metabolism of the body slows down and allows for escape from detection.

He also warns his son of the severe side effects of rupturing blood vessels when releasing the spell as well as dulling of senses of the body during the period of the spell. The father and sone study the family magecraft and kiritsugu instructs his son to practise producing the bounded field on his body. The only part that requires effort is that part as the other parts would be handled by the crest. Kiritsugu has already added the time alter to the emiya crest with the help of Melvin.

With that shirou could focus more on developing his combat ability and personal magecraft as the crest once transplanted would take care of making him learn "time alter" within a short time.

Shirou`s days went by fully packed as he learnt blacksmithing from Tatsuo, and practised projection and structural grasp after he discovered how helpful they are in blacksmithing.

Shirou was making steady but minuscule progress in magecraft abilities but as if compensating for his lack of talent in magecraft his learning speed was inhuman in forging. He absorbed knowledge like a sponge and made so well-thought-out comments that Tatsuo went to kiritsugu and asked to have shirou checked for savant syndrome.

He began suspecting this after he learnt about shirou being bad at other things but his talent in smithing was overflowing.

(A/N: again sorry for yesterday guys, yesterday my rage and negative thoughts were seeping into the chapter when I tried to write, and after writing about 300 words I read it and found that it feels like a watered-down copy of the uro butcher style decided "I can't do this shit".

The edge made me physically cringe after reading and made me delete the stuff and close the laptop for the day. Then I got busy and shit happened again.

Sigh luck rank f anyways what do you people feel about the description of time alter?
