Cassandra walked into the room and saw a sad Ariana sitting on the floor, resting her head on the bed.

" Ari? What's wrong?" She asked, concerned. She dropped the tray of fruits she'd come with on the bed and sat beside Ariana on the floor.

" Why Casey? Why are strange things happening to me? Am I the only one in this world? First Beatrice betrays me, then max cheats on me, then my mom refuses to come see me, Raymond rejects my love, Nicolas falls in love with me and now Raymond says he's in love with me. Am I the only one in this life?" She asked, almost in tears. 

Casey looked at her. She had gone through a lot but this was her fate. How rough was her life?

" What should I do Casey? I can't deny the fact that I still have feelings for Raymond so what do I do?" Ariana asked Casey.

Casey thought hard. If Ariana accepted Raymond's love easily and they started dating, Raymond might take her for a fool. He might think she didn't have any worth and her best friend was more than that.

" Give him some attitude" Casey suggested.

" Attitude? I don't understand" Ariana said, looking at Casey in a confused manner.

" Yeah so he knows you're not always at his beck and call. Girl, you're worth more than that. You'll accept his love in the end but just give him some attitude so he knows he can't just reject you and have you running back into his arms" Casey explained.

Ariana thought hard, Casey wasn't wrong. Of she accepted Raymond easily, then it would mean she was desperately in love with him. She decided to do as Casey told her.

" I agree" she said. She stood and sat on the bed .

" Yay, fruits" Ariana cheered. Casey got off the floor and sat on the bed.

" Thought you'd like some," Casey said.

" You're right. I've being craving straw berries" Ariana said as she ate some berries.

" That reminds me Ariana, we're all going out tomorrow" she said.

" Am I coming with?"Ariana asked.

" Nope. It's an uncle of mine and we're not gonna be long so it's no need. Besides, dad is going to be leaving town tonight so you'll be home alone. How cool?" Casey giggled.

Ariana looked at her, she had no choice.

   That Sunday,

Ariana refused to have dinner. She was sad that no one remembered her birthday. Her birthday was the next day and no one even remembered it. She sobbed. She wiped her tears when she remembered she was not in her house, what else could she ask for? The fact that they loved her should be enough for her, she thought.

She took out her phone and checked Casey's posts but she didn't see any of herself, she sighed and laid on the bed and closed her eyes.

She opened her eyes when she saw the door creak open. Mrs Lambert walked in.

" Ariana, are you alright? You didn't come have dinner" Mrs Lambert said and dropped the tray of juice and cookies she'd brought in with her.

" I wasn't hungry" Ariana stated.

" Hmmmm. But you can't go to bed on an empty. Here, have some juice and cookies" Mrs Lambert said as she took the tray and dropped it beside Ariana.

" I'm not hungry mum" Ariana said as she sat up.

" Nonsense. Come on, have some cookies and then you go to bed" Mrs Lambert said.

Ariana looked at her, she didn't want to things to stay longer so she had a bite of the cookies and found them crunchy and tasty. She gave Mrs Lambert a smile and drank some juice. She thanked Mrs Lambert after she finished eating and she gulped the entire glass of juice in a go.

She stood to take the tray out when she suddenly began to feel dizzy. She held her head and Mrs Lambert smiled to herself as Ariana fell to the bed unconscious.

She took the tray of food and kept it on the table beside the bed. She tucked Ariana In and whispered, " goodnight sweetie" she gave her a peck on the forehead, switched off the lights and left.

Why do you think Mrs Lambert laced Ariana's food?
