It was a few minutes to 10 pm and Dexter was walking Audrey home after they'd had their dinner together at a nearby restaurant.
During their dinner, Audrey did most of the talking while Dexter listened which was unlike him. He is someone who talks a lot especially when it comes to people he is close to but this time around, he felt bothered and he couldn't explain why. Even at that, he made sure Audrey had a good time.
He felt bad for addressing Audrey as his coworker when she was more than that to him so he thought of treating her to dinner with him to make her happy and also get his mind off Treasure. That's killing two birds with one stone.
Dexter was wearing a hoodie and a jean jacket on top of it. He was also wearing faded jean trousers and white sneakers to match, making him look smart and stunning even with the adhesive bandage on his face.
Audrey on the hand was putting on a black short dress and her blond hair was let down, center-parted. She looked beautiful and she was smiling all through their conversation as they walked down the street.
"Dexter, you still haven't told me why you have that injury on your forehead," Audrey asked for the third time. Whenever she talks about it, Dexter ends up changing the topic.
Dexter gently touched the adhesive bandage that was plastered on his forehead and came up with a lie. He was too embarrassed to admit to Audrey that he was beaten up like a criminal.
"Because it's a funny story, I was walking and texting at the same time and I accidentally hit my head on a pole" he lied effortlessly.
"Oh, I'm so sorry about that, it must've hurt," she said.
"It's okay. It barely hurts now" he said.
Audrey felt like holding Dexter's hand as they were walking but his hands were in his pockets all through.
They finally stopped at the front of Audrey's exotic mansion surrounded by a high fence and a tall gate. There was no need for Audrey to brag that she was from a rich family. One could easily tell by the way she walks, her expensive accessories, the clothes she wears and now her beautiful mansion tells it too.
Despite all that, she's still a humble and friendly girl and everyone admires her where she works. The only person Audrey currently dislikes was Treasure because she didn't like the way she stole Dexter's attention, the day she met her. She saw how Dexter was staring at her with googly eyes and it pissed her off.
"Is this your house?" Dexter asked Audrey, feeling surprised at how big Audrey's house was.
"Oh my God, it's beautiful." He admitted.
"It's my parent's house but you can come in if you want?" Audrey said, hoping for a positive response.
"Maybe next time, it's getting late and I have to hurry back home," Dexter said
"It's okay," she said.
"Yeah, goodnight Audrey, I'll see you at work tomorrow," Dexter said.
"Uhm, before you leave I wanna thank you for tonight. It was fun and thanks to you" Audrey said with a smile.
"My pleasure" Dexter smiled.
"Can I hug you?" she said and Dexter spread his arms and embraced her to a hug.
While they were hugging, Audrey pulled Dexter's face close to hers and locked her lips with him.
Dexter's body stiffened like a statue, he didn't resist nor kiss her back. He just stood still and let Audrey do what she wanted to do.
Audrey gently bit Dexter's bottom lip so he could open his mouth which he did and Audrey took her chance to slide her tongue into Dexter's mouth. She sucked his tongue with her eyes closed, enjoying the pleasure that comes with it until she finally broke free from him.
After their kiss, Audrey smiled, staring at Dexter's turquoise blue eyes that seemed to be glowing. She felt so happy and fulfilled meanwhile, Dexter looked lost at what just happened. He was too perplexed to react or even utter a word.
"Good night Dexter" Audrey whispered. She turned her back and opened her gate and went inside her house.
Dexter watched as Audrey departed and suddenly, his phone started to ring. It was the second time Treasure was calling him since they exchanged numbers. He watched as his phone rang till it stopped with no intention of calling her back. He didn't want to get involved or be too close to someone's girlfriend which was why he was ignoring Treasure even though it hurts him.
Dexter lifted his head to the sky and heaved a deep sigh. "What is wrong with me?" He muttered to himself.
.......
Meanwhile, Treasure was lying down on her bed, staring at her phone as Dexter kept ignoring her calls.
"I just wanted to talk to him," Treasure said to herself in a sad tone.
She wondered if Dexter was okay or if he was intentionally ignoring her.
But why would he?
She was so confused because she believed that they were on good terms the last time they met.
Treasure heard a knock on her door and she immediately stood up from her bed to open the door. She was certain it was her brother, Kim who was at the door.
Kim had earlier gone to the nightclub to party as usual while Treasure was all alone in the house.
Treasure opened the door but she couldn't find anyone who must've knocked.
"I'm sure I heard someone knock" She mumbled, searching around with her eyes but couldn't see anyone.
She was about to shut the door closed when she saw a small package on the doormat. She picked it up and shut the door closed.
"What is this?" she muttered, slowly opening the package.
Treasure gasped and her heart started to race as soon as she saw what was inside the package. It was her old phone which was broken and now glued together with seal tape.
Two days ago when she forcefully threw her old phone that broke into parts, she disposed of it in a garbage can, far away from her with the SIM card inside of it so she'll be free from getting messages from her stalker.
Apparently, Treasure has realized that she is still stuck in the hands of the strange man, her stalker. She knew it was him who must've sent her the package with her old phone to get inside her head.
******
Anne was in her nightdress and she was wearing cute pink fluffy slippers on her feet. She was at the fridge, drinking a glass of water when Dexter barged inside the house.
"Oh, see who's back at midnight," Anne said to Dexter as he was walking straight to his room
"It's not even up to 11 pm, it's just 10:30 pm alright?" Dexter turned to face her.
"I know but it's too late, what if something had happened to you again?" Anne said worriedly.
"Anne, you being overprotective is becoming annoying okay? I'm an adult man, you shouldn't be worried about me. It is I who should be worried about you when you come home late because you're a woman" he said.
"Coming from someone who got beaten up like a kid" She replied already getting pissed at Dexter's response.
Dexter ignored her and walked to his room meanwhile, Anne felt something was off with Dexter and she followed him to his room.
"Dexter, tell me what the problem is. Why are you acting weirdly?" Anne asked as she watched Dexter takes off his shoes and his clothes, leaving him in his underwear.
"It's nothing, I'm fine" he answered in a low tone as he lay down on his bed.
"Okay, where are you coming from?" She asked with her hands on her waist.
"I and my cowor... friend went out for a dinner together"
"You went out on a date?" Anne said with a smile on her face. She was amazed and excited.
"Anne, it's not a date, we just had dinner together" Dexter corrected her.
"Wait, with who? Don't tell me it's with that girl who's dating that psychotic bastard that tried to kill you. I clearly told you to stay away from that girl and I know how stubborn you could be..." Anne said in a husky tone, glaring at Dexter.
"It's not her! Why would I go out for a dinner with someone who has a boyfriend?" Dexter said in a high-pitched tone.
"hmm" Anne responded sitting on his bed beside him. "Okay, so tell me who's the new chick?" she said looking at Dexter suspiciously.
"She's not a new chick, she's a friend from work... Geez, you're asking too many questions" he groaned.
Anne noticed a red lipstick stain on Dexter's lips and she used her index finger to clean it off.
"What is it? Dexter asked with creased brows as to why Anne did that.
Anne laughed. "Wow! Dex… So you kissed her? I never knew you had time for girls" Anne said trying to tease him.
"Oh my goodness!" Dexter growled "it's not what you're thinking at all and I didn't kiss her… she kissed me" he argued.
"You two locked lips, it's the same thing," she said.
"Anne please get out of my room," Dexter said, turning to the other side of the bed to sleep.
Anne sighed.
"Dexter you're acting off and this is unlike you... don't forget that I'm your sister and you can comfortably tell me what's going on and I'll listen... or didn't you have fun on your date?" Anne said in a soft tone.
"Yes I had fun but something is missing and I don't know what it is" Dexter muttered with his eyes shut.
Anne moved closer to Dexter and gently stroked his sad face with her fingers. "dear brother, you're going to be okay... and most of all, you're not alone you have me..."
She kept on saying positive things to her brother and before she knew it, Dexter had fallen asleep.
