Chapter 13: A new acquitance

Sidhe enjoyed a cup of coffee at Hostess of Fertility, he needed to relax for today, he was for four months long in the dungeon, he needs to take a break. Not long, those debts will not pay themselves.

He took a sip, looking at the maids who were like bees, working to serve the new coming clients, to take their orders. He spotted Ryuu, the girl who moved with an elegant finesse, worthy of the elves, though she was indeed an elf.

He saw Syr working too, what a rare occurrence, he rarely saw her working while he was at the Hostess of Fertility, she was always in break when he was here, he didn't really believe her, but, maybe it was true?

Sidhe was ready to pay and leave; he observed Loki familia, that were regular customers here, they had new people to their group. There were two young girls, that he never saw, they looked like amazoness.

Then, a girl sat next to him, she had a brown with a reddish nuance hair, and a long light blue robe, she had an ever present smile, then he was the loki familia insignia on her clothes. He wondered why she wasn't with the other members.

She said, "Hi, can I stay here?"

He looked at her with amusement, saying, "Sure, it's not my place to allow or to not allow someone."

She thrown him an annoyed glance, then ordered a meal and a cup of tea.

Sidhe was curious about why she didn't stay with her familia members, they seem a nice group, considered one of the best familias in Orario at the moment. He wanted to sip some coffee, but the cup was empty. He put it down the on counter, miffed at the lack of coffee.

As she waited for the order to arrive, said, "Are you an adventurer?"

He turned to her, and said, "Yes. Why do you ask?"

She beamed and said, "I am one too!"

He blinked, then again blinked, thinking the girl was weird, in the end he said, "Good for you, I guess. What's your name? Mine is Sidhe."

She puffed her chest, saying, "I am Elfy Collete, member of Loki familia."

He nodded, raising an inquisitive eyebrow, he said, "Nice, I am a member of Miach familia, why you don't stay with your familia members?"

She rubbed her cheek with a finger, and said, "Ah… I had a little accident in the dungeon, and they're kinda, mad at me." Then continued, "A member of Miach familia? Didn't they have an accident almost a year ago that crippled it completely?"

He strained his lips, "Yes, though not entirely, I am the only active adventurer at the moment."

She started eating, after she took some bites of food, "Oh, How is it to be the only adventurer of a familia? I guess it's hard, no supporters, no members that you can fall on…"

He shrugged, saying, "I am not sure, being alone is harder in the dungeon, yes, but I don't know by how much. The only real disadvantage is that if you got encircled by the monsters, you die. A plus to be alone is that you don't need to share your money."

She spat the tea she was drinking, saying, "Money? What?"

He looked at her with the best poker face he could make, and said, "What? You don't go dungeoning to get money? What other reasons you could have."

She shook her head, "No? I mean I wanted to be an adventurer to become stronger, not to get money. Money is nice to have, I can't disapprove that, it just seems ridiculous to be your only reason."

He crossed his arms, "You want to be stronger? Well, why do you want to be stronger?"

She rubbed her cheek, looking with a vacant gaze at Sidhe, "Simple, because I want. Don't you feel good when feel the growth, and then burn your enemies to ash."

Sidhe could understand what she was referring to, seeing how you grow and get stronger can be addictive, heck, he too was somewhere between addicted and not caring, though, she seems to be a pyromaniac. A person who wants to burn the world, he said, hesitant, "Then your goal is to burn monsters, and getting stronger is just a way to get more powerful fire."

She vehemently denied, "Nu-uh, I want to get stronger, getting bigger and more powerful fire is just a secondary bonus."

He just doesn't buy her excuse, she seems to be a pyromaniac, saying, "Let's agree that we disagree, though, I think that you are a pyromaniac."

She pouted, "No. How many times I need to repeat, it's not that I enjoy burn monsters, it just a way for me to see my growth. I am a mage, by the way."

Sidhe heard that smug tone, then saw the growing smirk on her face, she waited for an opportunity to say that, he was sure. Mages were glass cannons, they needed protection, but they could easily take down monsters over their levels. They were beasts.

He didn't know what to say, he thought for a moment, then said, "Nice, being a mage is something rare. So you burn your teammates, that's why you didn't go to their table?"

She rubber her cheek, again, it was a tick, Sidhe observed, his tail was swishing, she then said, "No, of course I didn't burn them, maybe just warmed them? A tiny bit…"

Well, that explains then, he said, "Nice to meet you, goodbye."

She waved with a small smile, then continued to eat her, now, cold food.

He walked towards the Babel tower, he will take his knife, he was debating if he should buy armour now, or to get it later, he wasn't in that much of need, though, it could save his life in dangerous situations, he meet those needle bunnies, down in the dungeon.

They can easily pierce your body, annoying fluffy things.

He arrived at the Alazan's shop, she was dangling on a chair, looking bored at the ceiling, he approached, and said, "Good day, is my knife ready?"

She turned towards him, saying with drawl, "Yes, yer knife is ready."

She got up and left to get his knife, Sidhe took an IOU paper and wrote the rest money he needed to pay.

It was a straight dagger, with a single blade, long, almost a short sword. It reminded him of Eastern weapons, in the design, he liked it.

He said, "Thanks."

Sidhe left for the dungeon, he can't just stay and do nothing, times cost money. There he continued to fight on the sixth floor.

He was fighting two war shadows, ready to tear him apart. Swift slashes, dangerous thrusts. They were close to his speed, he was cautious, never attacking without being sure to hit, or at least to not get injured.

Both of the war shadows attacked him, he dodged the attacks as just one slash or thrust could kill him. The curse of not having armour, he needs to be careful now.

He countered them, then dodged the incoming blows. He readied himself for the next attacks.

They were vicious, fast, always trying to kill with the utmost force. He had a hard time killing them even now, though not as how he stood on the brink of the death when he first time meet them.

One swiped with its fingers, he blocked with the saber, then took his new, dark dagger and plunged deep in the war shadow's body, taking the shock, he disengaged and cut its head with the saber.

Only one war shadow remained, it was easier now to parry the attacks, or in time of need, to dodge them. There wasn't any other monster that could take him by surprise.

He heard again that whistling sound, he jumped to evade the incoming tongue. He needed to say it. Sidhe twisted himself in air as the war shadow was trying to hit him, then hit the monster in the head with his legs, falling on it.

The war shadow hit the ground, Sidhe finished it on the spot.

The frog on it's own was easy to deal with it. It was dangerous when it attacks you when you fight with other monsters.

He continued to the seventh floor, the monsters were more worser, he needed to be careful with how many of them he deals. He prowled in the shadows, making sure no monster noticed him.

He saw a single war shadow, walking through the hallways, it was his chance, he walked in silence, next to the walls and the cover of stones. The war shadow didn't notice a thing.

When it felt the pain, it was too late, as the saber was poking through its stomach.

The skill was amazing, it lowered his presence and increased his speed, the monsters had a hard time to notice him, though it wasn't impossible for them do detect Sidhe.

His ears were twitching, he was hearing ants digging through the ground, he hastily left that place. He wanted no fight with those disgusting bugs, they were annoying, and a pain to deal with. If you didn't kill the in time, be sure that ten more are coming.

And another thing was that they stink, or at least their blood did.

He saw a single ant in the distance, they heard the vibration, so it was out of question to take it by surprise, but if he attacked too fast for it to react, It could work.

He sprinted, his tail was swishing through the wind, poking through the robe, with one swift cut the ant lost its head.

He liked the sabers, they were designed to cut, while the swords were better for thrusts.

Two war shadows tried to attack him, he bended from their way, their attack left them open, he cut one with his saber, injuring it, while he left his previous dagger in the other's back. He took his new dagger from the sheath, and prepared himself for the fight.

They fought, the war shadows were as powerful as ever, he sidestepped the incoming thrust, then cut the arm of the attacker.

The other war shadow, that still had the dagger in its body tried to engage with him in a fair fight, Sidhe didn't allow it, he passed through its legs when the war shadow tried to swing.

Then turned and passed his saber through the unfortunate war shadow. Only one remained, and as it didn't have one arm, it was easy to finish it.

He continued to fight for the rest of the day, getting around twenty magic crystals and some loot to sell.

He arrived home, Naaza was making potions with Lord Miach, Sidhe didn't want to disturb them, so he entered him room to calculate the amount of money he had left, and what he needed for the future. The saber will probably be enough till level 2, where he will need to change after. As for the dagger, probably too till level 2.

He will buy armour, it was for the best, it was becoming harder for him to evade the attacks, and if he had it, he could be sure that one wrong mistake would not lead to his death.st

What kind of armour was the question? Chain, leather or maybe light metal armour, he wasn't sure, though the best flexibility was offered by the chainmail armour, leather was light and only protected from the weakest attacks.

While the light metal armour was offering a good protection, and was not heavy, though it came with a deficit, the flexibility wasn't great in it.

He decided for chainmail armour, Sidhe will keep it under the robe. He will visit Alazan these weeks to ask for armour.

Lord Miach entered his room to check the status.

Sidhe liked what he saw on the status paper :
