“Dany,” he finally spoke as Daniel slid the key into the lock of his door. Turning around, it took all his courage to look at Karden as he leaned against the door. “You gonna miss me?” His voice carried something fragile along with the teasing tone. The cracks that began the moment Kar mentioned leaving now threatened to shatter Daniel’s heart as he saw uncertainty in those warm, brown eyes. The silent ache consumed him, and he reached for Karden, pulling him close. The kiss was meant to reassure Kar—reassure them both—but Daniel’s desperation took hold. Soon they were entwined with arms and lips, hands searching for purchase. Daniel poured everything he could not say into the kiss, and Karden seemed willing to take every ounce of his haggard emotions.
