Dragon Heritage: english version

This is the English version of my novel. As English is not my primary language, I apologize in advance for any errors. Awakening in a silent and forgotten forest, a young man with no memories faces the perplexing task of discovering his past. Abandoned and clueless about his identity, he ventures on a challenging journey.

Goodbye, little rat.

- "That's all for today."

- "Oof... Today's class was longer than usual. My butt hurts from sitting so much."

- "Ho, Ho. Since you're a fast learner, I thought it would be a good idea to pick up the pace a little. It won't be long now, hang in there."

- "Thanks for the lesson today!"

Just like the last few days, Seamus spent a few hours teaching Kael, who to his surprise, was learning incredibly fast, as if he were a sponge soaking up water. At this rate, it wouldn't take him more than a day or two to gain more knowledge than the average adult.

- "Mr. Seamus, can I ask you a question?"

- "Sure, go ahead."

- "How or where could I get information?"

- "Information? What kind?"

- "From a person, for example."

- "Mhmm... Are you looking for someone?"

- "Uh... You could say, yes. So, do you know anything?"

- "Information about a person... Yes, maybe in that place..."

- " 'That' place? You mean it's possible?!"

- "Yes. The place with the most information for sale and with one of the best known intelligence networks in the kingdom: the Clan Féinneala territory. You should be able to get whatever you need there, plus goods from all over the kingdom."

- "The Féinneala Clan... How do I get there?"

- "Pass me the map."

- "Here."

Spreading the map out on the table, Seamus pointed to a spot on the map - "The village is at this point on the map, and if you go in this direction."- He wagged his finger down, stopping quickly.

- "You should find a small town, marking the boundary between the Clan territory and the 'rest'. Once you pass the town -if you can-, you'll see the walls of the territory."

- "I see, it might be a bit of a long journey..."

- "If you go by horseback and without stopping, it will take you three days or so."

- "Three days... Good! That's less than I expected. I think I'll be able to leave soon, I've been helping you for more than two weeks now, Mr. Seamus."

- "Mhmm... Yes..."

- "Is something wrong?"

- "N-No, sorry. You're right, in no time you'll be able to leave, it's time for me to let you go and my research is in its final stages anyway."

- "That's good to hear. Well, I'll go ask Sile if she needs help with anything."

- "Oh, she's not in, so no need."

- "She's not in?"

- "No, she took the day off to take care of some... personal business. But don't worry, she'll be back in the morning."

- "Ah... I understand. See you tomorrow."

- "Yeah."

Seamus watched Kael leave the room, the moment the door closed with a soft *clack*, he let out a heavy sigh, sitting up in bed as his gaze wandered all over the place.

-"..." His expression darkened.

The next morning, just as Seamus had said, Sile was working as usual.

-(What the fuck is going on...?) At least to the other customers, since to Kael, the 'Sile' in front of him shouldn't be with them, after all he- the Being killed her.

- "W-what's wrong, Kael?" Realizing that Kael was watching her, Sile- the 'young' Sile blushed, as if she didn't remember the fact that he pierced her chest.

- "Tell me, Sile..."

- "Y-Yes?"

- "You... Weren't you older? I mean, almost like an old lady."

- "Huh?! Why do you say that, Kael?! I-I can't believe you're so cruel!" With a mixture of indignation and anger, Sile's face turned extremely red.

- "Jo... To think you would say something like that, I thought you were more delicate, young Kael."

- "He's right, you should be more considerate of women, brat!"

- "Yeah, if you don't want her, give her to me!"

- "But what are you saying, asshole? You have a wife and a child!"

Because of the question, a commotion started in the bar, shouts, insults and even some blows flew around the bar. It didn't look like Seamus was going to intervene, because his face turned pale and sweat ran down his forehead. When Kael decided to do something-

*CLONK*

- "What do you think you're doing in my inn...?"

It wasn't that Seamus felt bad or was afraid of the customers, no. What he was afraid of, was something else entirely.

Sile, though definitely younger, gave off the same pressure as her other 'version', making both the customers and Kael tremble.

The sound of the frying pan echoed for a while accompanied by cries for help.

After the little 'incident' Kael finished getting ready to leave, he realized he hadn't seen Ciara all afternoon. By this time, she would either be waiting for him downstairs or would go straight upstairs to say goodbye.

-(I wonder where she is... There's also the Sile thing... Damn, every time I think something is resolved, something else happens).

-"...It's time to go downstairs."

As they went downstairs, there wasn't a single customer left, the only ones there were Sile, who apparently got mad at Kael, and Seamus, cleaning glasses.

-I'll be out for a while, see you tomorrow."

- "Take care." Seamus dismissed him with a smile.

- "Hmph." While Sile didn't even look at him.

- "Ha, ha..."

...

Finishing the gathering of 'ingredients', Kael handed the bag with the Beasts to Seamus. Once Seamus walked away, Kael was planning to do the same, when he felt a tap on his shoulder. It was 'Villager A.'

- "What's up, Villager A?"

- "V-Villager A...? Uh... Never mind. I wanted to ask you a question."

- "Go ahead."

- "Aren't you curious about what Mr. Seamus might be doing with the corpses?"

- "Mhmm... Now that you mention it, well, yes. But my only task is to bring the ingredients."

- "That's exactly why! Don't you want to go see what he's doing? I think we have the right since we're the ones who bring his precious 'ingredients'.

- "Mm... Now I'm really curious..."

- "Ha, ha! I knew you'd understand me! Come, let's go."

- "Hey, wait-"

-[No.]

- "Huh?"

-"[Don't go, you mustn't go.]

- "What are you talking about? Why should I--"

-[This is not a question, not a warning. It's a command. Don't go.]

Noticing the rare seriousness in the Being's voice, and despite not liking the idea of obeying him, she decided to heed him. After all, who wouldn't obey a strange voice in his head?

- "What's the matter, aren't you coming?"

- "N-No, I remembered I had something to do. It'll be next time."

- "Well, your loss. See ya."

With that, Kael watched for a few seconds as he ran in the direction Seamus had gone. Deciding he'd better get back, he returned to the inn.

- "Ha! I didn't expect him to be a coward. Well, it's better this way, I can keep a quiet watch."

After following him for about 15 minutes, Seamus finally stopped and lowered the bag, taking out the corpses and setting them aside.

- "I wonder what he'll do with the corpses..."

Seamus began to take off his shirt and pants, leaving only his underwear on. Kneeling down and muttering something, he stood up with his hands pointing to the sky and said in a voice loud enough for 'Villager A' to hear.

- "Take care of the little 'rat'."

-"!!" Before he could understand those words, an intense pain assaulted his abdomen and he looked down only to find....

A hand.

A small, seemingly fragile hand, smeared with blood, his blood, piercing completely through his body.

- "What... happened...?"

With great difficulty, he turned his face away, in an attempt to see the culprit. However, he almost wished he hadn't.

- "Si... le... Why...?"

-"..."

The only answer he received was the young woman's cold stare, indifferent to the man's words and whimpers.

-What are you doing? Get it over with."

-"...Understood."

With a simple wave of a hand, the man's body was split in two, leaving nothing but an unpleasant sight and the disinterested stares of Seamus and Sile.
