Douluo Dalu: Martial Path

In the world of Douluo Dalu, being a Soul Master is an occupation. A title above normal mortals. Yet, despite the power and numerous other abilities one would gain as they thread the path of a Spirit Master, they were no different from a normal mortal. They would still die to natural causes and a spirit master didn't have a longer lifespan than a mortal, except when they reach the limits of a spirit master but they could only live by twice or thrice the lifespan of a mortal still. Just what was good being a spirit master? Especially if one can easily kill them by the hands of either technology or natural causes? They weren't much different from a mortal. That was what Feng Qin had come to a conclusion as he turned twelve, six years after awakening an unknown trash Martial Spirit. But, on a fateful day, one single lucky moment as he had just survive from a life and death situation, changed his life forever. ... AN: Hey it's yo boi, FroztDouluo back with another Douluo Dalu fanfic! And this time, it's a concept that I've taken inspirations from Martial World(just read the story since it's a prequel to True Martial World, my favorite story and one I'm hoping to make a fanfic of someday), True Martial World, Tales of Demons and Gods, God of Slaughter, etc. I really hope I can make this story great and won't eventually turn me off. Cause my last few stories were great in plotlines at the start but it had eventually gone downhill due to several reasons.(Mainly laziness, writer's block, and school.) So, I'm going to clarify a few things and reveal a couple spoilers. One, there will be some oc other than the mc in this story. Most of them would come from other stories that I had previously mentioned or you guys can help me create some of them through comments. Two, I prioritize pa-treon more than here so if you notice me being late to update than it must mean I was either busy writing more chapters in pa-treon or I'm resting from the exhaustion of it. Three, the update schedule is 2-3 chapters a week with at least 1k words. Chapters are uploaded in Wednesday and Friday/Saturday(UTC +8, Philippine time). Four, I will try to reply to most of the comments I see but don't count much, cause I don't really reply very well because I just don't know what to write back. I just hope it'll get to a hundred, or two, chapters before I drop it, or not? It depends on life really. And positive comments and reviews, I don't really care much of power stones(tho, that doesn't mean you can't...) but positive feedback on my work really inspires me more to write. Want to check out my pa-treon and be ahead of your fellow WN kin? Well here's the link: pa–treon.com/FroztDouluo *Just get rid of the dash.

Chapter 44: Admitting Defeat

'...I have no words,' Feng Qin incredulously stared at the incredibly...weird movements Cang Yuyue was doing. A fierce blush appeared on his face.

Clearly, it was not for any innocent children to see.

Now normally at his age, Feng Qin wouldn't have reacted to her. Heck, he would've been disgusted at how she's acting.

But he has the memories of a thousand-more year old Immortal and that guy has seen...a lot, unfortunately.

That made him become more aware of a lot of things.

Fortunately he wasn't the only one feeling uncomfortable.

The entire audience and other competitors had very strong reactions; they were blushing, most had widened eyes, some crossing their legs, some shielding the eyes of the children with their hands, some were loudly whistling, and some were just...intently staring, trying to burn the images deep in their memories.

Finally, Feng Qin couldn't stand it, with his palm over his face, he yelled, "...What the hell are you doing?!"

"Nya?" Cang Yuyue blinked her eyes, acting obliviously, she cutely tilted her head as if asking what he was talking about. "What are you talking about, Little Qin?"

'Oh great, she's starting to call me names now.' He groaned and made a face towards her, "You clearly know what I'm talking about, pervert."

Cang Yuyue smiled, hiding her hands behind her back, and lightly commented, "Should you really be taking it easy right now?"

"Hm?" Feng Qin furrowed his brows and his eyes widened when he saw a dark shadow coming from behind him from the reflection of his blade.

Swoosh!

He moved without hesitation, his Heavenly Yang Sword, flowing with fiery flames, went to slash the dark shadow coming from behind him.

From first glance, he could tell that the dark shadow figure was similar to Cang Yuyue and could probably have guessed that this was probably her second spirit ring ability or something.

And it was; second spirit ring ability, Shadow Doppelganger. She could create a literal shadow doppelganger with 70-80% of her overall abilities. She can create at most three doppelgangers, making it her most powerful ability!

Of course, it has a great disadvantage. Not only would it take her 10 seconds to cast, the doppelganger has no intelligence and could only perform simple and predictable attacks. It was only useful in group fights and in a straight, one v one fight, this ability would have been near useless as enemies wouldn't let Cang Yuyue use Shadow Doppelganger.

But Cang Yuyue had been mastering this spirit ability for a couple years, so she greatly understood how to use it properly in battle, whether it be groups or solo. And in this battle, she had used it the moment she started laughing.

The specialty of most Assault Speed System Spirit Masters, is assassination!

As the shadow that went to attack Feng Qin dissipated, another suddenly burst out of a small shadow under Feng Qin's feet and grabbed his legs.

'Shit.' Feng Qin grimaced. The doppelganger didn't have that much strength with its hold, he could easily destroy it.

But it brought enough time for Cang Yuyue to fearlessly charge in behind him with her sharp claws out towards his back.

'Cunning. But,' Feng Qin inwardly commented as he slid his sword back into its sheath, 'Weak.'

Feng Qin's body seethed with fighting spirit as flames exploded the instant he drew his sword again and swung it horizontally.

Yet Cang Yuyue, with a playful expression, looked to have no intention of backing away from the flaming blade that was about to cut her apart.

'What the hell? Does this chick seriously have a death wish?!' Feng Qin's eyes went wide and in a split second decision, with incredible control, reversed his sword mid swing so that the back of the blade would only hit her.

It was of course going to hurt, it was still a burning blade after all, but it would at least not inflict a fatal wound.

If this was to the death kind of fight, Feng Qin would have no qualms killing her but this was a public competition, with a lot of people of all ages watching him.

It was one thing killing bandits, it was another by killing a young girl with great talent as a spirit master. He wouldn't be able to handle the consequences right now.

"What–?!"

Unexpectedly however, the blade easily passed through her body, like slashing through air, and Cang Yuyue had a pained expression as her claws slashed forward.

Feng Qin hurriedly took a step back but he was a tad too late.

Riiiiiip!

The clothes on his chest were torn apart as five long claw marks appeared and stretched diagonally from his lower left shoulder to his lower right chest.

"Yes, yes!" Cang Yuyue excitedly said as she stared at her work, only to freeze.

Staggering back, Feng Qin didn't waste a second and kicked Cang Yuyue, sending her flying back with a couple broken ribs.

After doing that did he looked down at the injury she inflicted and he relaxed.

Although the marks were an inch deep, terrifying to look at, blood didn't seem to flow out.

'Cultivating the Heretical Spirit Body Strengthening Art was indeed the correct choice!' He grinned.

Unlike most body strengthening techniques, the Heretical Spirit Body Strengthening Art focuses entirely on foundation and washing ones energy.

Body strengthening techniques, on principles, focuses on tempering the body to essentially become a weapon. But the Heretical Spirit Body Strengthening Art's greatest strength is for one's body to become the strongest cultivation body!

"...Heh. Hehehehehe. Hahahaha!"

Suddenly, Cang Yuyue, bent down and arm over her stomach, started laughing out loud.

"I can't even make you bleed out? Unparalleled potential, good fighting skills, and a strong body. Seriously, I really lucked out this time..." Cang Yuyue gulped and straightened her back.

She faced Feng Qin expressionlessly.

Then she smiled, a strange gleam flashed across her eyes,

"I admit defeat!"

...

As the battle ended and the audience didn't know what to say, in a certain corner of the arena where a lonely cold girl was silently watching.

Mei Lin narrowed her icy eyes, timeworn wisdom flashed,

"...I can't be wrong. That kid, he created a spirit core! Moreover it's a Fire Attributed Spirit Core." she muttered with wide eyes and opened mouth, stunned.

Even with all her past life's experience and knowledge gained from undergoing a God trial, she couldn't understand how a measly Spirit Scholar had managed to create a Spirit Core!

Forget the purple spirit ring and his strong body, his Spirit Core is much more unbelievable and impressive!

She knew that this young man, Feng Qin, was not to be underestimated since his fight against Cao Fengzi but she didn't think that he was that stupidly absurd!!

Even she, a reincarnated rank 98 Titled Douluo, didn't have any confidence in creating a spirit core even with her current cultivation.

That was something only a Spirit Sage could do!

No one would have noticed, even a normal Titled Douluo, but Mei Lin finally noticed Feng Qin's weird spirit power fluctuations after observing him for a long while.

'No wonder he doesn't seem to be exhausted of spirit power, his recovery rate is unparalleled compared to his peers,' She narrowed her eyes. 'Either he found a divine inheritance or he's a reincarnator as well. The former sounds much more logical...'

A sense of greed blossomed in her ice cold heart but she slowly calmed down and shook her head.

Those who discovered a divine inheritance are ones who were CHOSEN by the divine inheritance and the chosen had a sort of compatibility with it.

That was what Mei Lin or Xian Qinxin understood when she first accepted her God Trial.

Divine inheritances had a remnant will that was left behind by the God who created them and only those who are compatible with them could ever inherit it.

At first glance, Feng Qin's divine inheritance might either be Fire or Sword. Neither is a good compatibility with Mei Lin.

'...I have to recruit him!'

Mei Lin thought to herself, her eyes gleaming with determination. 'I need him on my team if I want to achieve my revenge.'

But she also knew that Feng Qin wouldn't just easily agree to join her.

She would have to be careful and calculated in her approach.

For now, she would just continue to observe him, to understand his strengths and weaknesses and to find the best way to approach him.

As the arena slowly cleared out, Mei Lin watched as Feng Qin walked out, his back straight and his head held high. Mixed emotions flashed across his face.

There was something about him, something that drew people towards him, that made them believe in him and want to follow him.

Mei Lin couldn't help but be intrigued.

She would definitely be keeping an eye on him from now on.

'...Hm. He's not bad looking. He could be a good consort,' she licked her lips.

...

Long Yuyin narrowed her eyes and she looked towards the quiet Mei Lin then towards the back of Cang Yuyue, thinking,

'...I sense a great disturbance in the force. I have a feeling, master's chastity might be in danger!'
