"Hmph!" Long Yuyin coldly snorted and walked off the arena, her eyes still blazing with a red light.
Feng Qin watched her quietly, noticing something odd about her, so as she approached him, he curiously asked, "Long Yuyin, what's wrong? You seem a bit...on edge."
Long Yuyin's coldness immediately dropped in front of her master, trembling, she quickly sat by his side and reluctantly said, "...I-It reminded me of that cell, the one we were held in. Being unable to see and move around a small confined space. Heh, I thought that experience didn't bother me."
She looked down at her master's arm, the one she had clung onto tightly during their imprisonment, and remembered how he had comforted her and kept her from spiraling into despair. She felt ashamed for showing such weakness in front of him now.
Feng Qin placed a comforting hand on her shoulder, "It's okay to be affected by past traumas, Yuyin. The important thing is that you acknowledge it and don't let it control you."
Long Yuyin nodded, grateful for her master's understanding, and took a deep breath to steady herself. She knew she couldn't let her past hold her back, especially not in a competition as important as this.
With newfound determination, she stood up and turned to Feng Qin, "Mas...Qin, I promise to do better in our future battles."
Feng Qin smiled proudly at, admittedly, his friend, "I have no doubt that you will, Yuyin."
They smiled at each other.
"By the way, why did you openly explain your third spirit ring ability to your opponent?" Feng Qin asked, a teasing glint in his eyes.
Long Yuyin blushed slightly, instantly, she sat by his side and punched his shoulder, "Hmph. Shut up! I just got caught in the moment, that's all..."
Feng Qin, holding his arm, chuckled, "Well, at least you won in the end. And I wouldn't worry too much. It wasn't like you scream out the weaknesses of your spirit ability."
Long Yuyin sulked and looked away from him. Feng Qin chuckled before turning back to the arena.
A couple matches passed by and Feng Qin's match was up.
Already, the audience was going wild for his match.
"Feng Qin! Feng Qin!"
Fortunately for Feng Qin, the audience finally understood who he was and excitedly chanted his name out loud.
"Welp, I'm up."
Feng Qin stood up, adjusting his sword by his side rather than on his back, he turned to wave towards Long Yuyin before heading to the stage.
"Good luck, Qin!"
Long Yuyin yelled out, smiling at the boy's back that she had followed for less than a month. It was strange how destiny and fate had led her towards this direction of life.
The mysterious slave blood connection or contract Feng Qin involuntarily had with Long Yuyin was truly powerful. If you forget about the only disadvantage; their shared lifeblood, Long Yuyin's personality, memories and feelings were altered so she could become completely loyal towards Feng Qin.
But that was only in terms of loyalty, some feelings Long Yuyin had developed currently were born from her own inner heart.
Just what would happen when their connection is severed.
Will her personality remain the same? Or will her heart be torn apart?
Only time would tell.
.....
For the first time in his life, Feng Qin was afraid of a girl.
Don't get him wrong, he was afraid of some of them but they were mostly his mother and some weird aunties back in his hometown. So, older women in particular.
But this girl...
Feng Qin slowly held onto the Heavenly Yang Sword's handle, a bead of cold sweat rolled down the side of his temple.
"Hi! My name is Cang Yuyue. I am 17 years old, student of Sky Fortune Academy, Agility Attack System Battle Spirit Master. Rank 32 Spirit Elder, Spirit: Dark Ghost Jaguar." A beautiful light skinned girl introduced herself with a playful smile.
She seemed to be the cheerful and outgoing type, wearing boyish clothes and having short hair. Feng Qin couldn't help but think that she resembled a mischievous little kitten.
Suddenly, he felt a shiver run down his spine.
'What is this feeling? It's not the sense of danger I'd usually feel from my opponents.'
He mentally shook himself out of his thoughts and straightened his posture, "I'm Feng Qin. 13 years old, Assault Power System Battle Spirit Master. Rank 18 Spirit Scholar, Spirit: Heavenly Yang Sword."
"Rank 18? But I thought it was 17?" Cang Yuyue tilted her head, curiosity on her face.
Feng Qin smiled, "I broke through after my fierce battle witn Cao Fengzi."
Cang Yuyue froze, as well as the referee, an incredulous expression appeared on both their face.
'That can happen?!'
The referee signaled for them to begin and both of them took their stances.
At first, Cang Yuyue seemed to be lightly bouncing on her feet, testing his reactions. But suddenly, she launched herself towards Feng Qin with alarming speed, appearing as a blur.
There was a flash of black, white, yellow and purple around her and her body suddenly changed.
A pair of fluffy black ears appeared atop her head along with a long black tail swishing behind her. One white, one yellow and one purple spirit rings floated around her body. Her eyes glowed a bright yellow, almost feline-like.
"Here I come!" she declared, her cat eyes narrowed as her movements becoming even more agile and unpredictable.
Feng Qin was taken aback by this sudden transformation but quickly regained his composure and focused on his opponent.
Feng Qin sidestepped and dodged her attack, and within seconds, she turned to swipe her left hand, turned into a sharp claw, towards him but he quickly jumped back to evade her attacks.
'She's fast! She's the fastest opponent I've ever encountered up to this point.' He thought as he dodged another of her attack.
He narrowed his eyes, intently following her every movement and as she came close to him for another attack, without any hesitation, he punched out, a fiery red aura surrounded his fist.
Cang Yuyue's playful expression dramatically changed and she instantly backed away from Feng Qin.
'...As expected. Quick and nimble, yet has little to no defense. It doesn't help that her clothes doesn't provide any protection either.' Feng Qin noted to himself as he went into a fighting stance, his left fist forward and right hand before his abdomen.
Even though he had trouble keeping up with her speed, Feng Qin wasn't worried. As long as she can be easily taken down and doesn't fire off any instant killing moves, he had nothing to worry about.
"Oh, that was close..."
Cang Yuyue giggled as she smugly smiled at Feng Qin, "Still, you missed~"
"..."
"How about using that sword of yours? Doesn't have a longer reach and higher power damage?"
"...I will, if you start fighting me seriously." Feng Qin was expressionless.
Cang Yuyue pouted and said, "Ehh~ But I am doing this seriously~"
The response that she got was a hot, purple flaming fist coming towards her.
But as the quicker one between them, Cang Yuyue easily dodged it but Feng Qin continued on attacking her with his Blazing Fists techniques.
It's not that Feng Qin didn't want to use his sword, it's just that he wanted to learn how to fight against a fast opponent like her with his fists first.
He might like using swords, due to it being useful and with the Sword Immortal's memories and all, but what he always trusted will always be his fists.
A few minutes passed, and Feng Qin was getting used to fighting her to the point he managed to land a couple hits, Cang Yuyue's playful exterior slowly dropped until her expression turned icy.
"Alright kid, you're starting to piss me off." Her third spirit ring shone eerily and her body began to act illusory. She then charges at him with speed that was even faster than before.
"Hm?" Feng Qin's eyes widened in surprise as he struggled to keep up with her movements. Her attacks were coming at him from all directions, and he found it increasingly difficult to dodge and counter.
Third spirit ability, Ghostly Kill Assault. This spirit ability increases Cang Yuyue's speed by 50% with her body taking on a ghostly characteristic, making most physical attacks useless.
Though of course, using this spirit ability of her consumes a good 30% of her spirit power.
Feng Qin quickly activated his spirit ability, with a flash of purple light, he was enveloped in a red fiery aura, and managed to deflect most of Cang Yuyue's attacks. But she was relentless, continuously closing the distance and launching her own powerful strikes.
Feng Qin knew that he had to change his strategy. His fists alone weren't enough to defeat Cang Yuyue's speed and agility.
Suddenly, Cang Yuyue's first spirit ability shone as well and her attacks started getting faster by almost double.
'Looks like I don't have any choice.'
Taking a deep breath, he made a split-second decision and unsheathed his Heavenly Yang Sword.
Red hot flames engulfed the sword, and Feng Qin held it with his right hand, ready to face Cang Yuyue head-on.
The moment the sword was unsheathed, a powerful wave of heat washed over the arena, causing the audience to gasp in awe.
Cang Yuyue's eyes widened in surprise, her playful expression replaced with a mix of shock and excitement.
"Finally, you bust out your sword," she murmured, a hint of admiration in her voice as her lips widened. "Kinda hotter than I expected..."
Feng Qin slashed his sword through the air, causing a trail of flames to follow its path. With every swing, the heat intensified, and the pressure it emitted became almost unbearable.
"Let's see how you handle this," Feng Qin said, determination shining in his eyes. He froze.
"Hehe. Hahahahaha!"
Unexpectedly, Cang Yuyue started blushing and panting heavily. Her hands on her face for a brief moment before she started moving them all around her body in a very...sensual manner.
"Good. That's good! Show me all your secrets. Show me, everything~"
