“Well—whaddya wanna do?” Erik inquired suggestively.

Ryan blinked again. Why was he so bad at this? He had no game at all, and now there was this moment and he was standing there obsessively gawking but frigid and still.

“Anything?” said Ryan, and then Erik smiled.

“Follow me,” whispered Erik, whipping around and shuffling down the hallway of the hotel. Ryan speed-walked behind him, curious as to where this would lead. They head down the stairs, past the lobby and the dozing desk manager, then down another hallway to the swimming pool.

“It’s locked,” said Ryan, pushing against the door, “It says it closes at ten.”

“Yes, it does,” said Erik. “But I think they mean for other people. I think it’s okay if we want to swim right now. I mean—we are on the swim team, right?”
