Chapter 31

“Come back,” moaned Blake, but Ryan was already out the door, sprinting barefoot down the hallway, the tears falling away from his eyes, a hoarse cry tumbling out of his mouth. 8

Ryan roamed the hotel hallways like a ghost, hovering up to the carpeted stairwells for a peek outside. The storm was still raging, with ice building up on the outer windows and railings.

He wore nothing except for his green plaid boxer shorts and his black and gold Chippewa swimming T-shirt. He had no key to return to his room, and besides, he never wanted to see Blake again.

Instead, he wandered past the vending machines and around the empty laundry room, where he heard odd sounds being whispered against the wall.

“Hur ?r din mamma? Det ?r redan sn?at h?r—s? kallt som sverige.”
