Digimon: The Child of Miracles

August 1, 1999, seemed to be just another ordinary date for the rest of the world. A calm and hot summer to which humanity had been accustomed since time immemorial. Those were also Noah Tatsumi's thoughts when he decided to come camping with seven other children, it was an activity he had been dragged into at the request of his friends. However, he would quickly realize that this day, this summer, would be like no other as he finds himself pulled into the jaws of an unknown world full of dangers, all alone. …maybe not so alone. *** Join my Patreon to read advance chapters! https://www.patreon.com/rTem

<Continent Server Hyper Ete-Track> <3rd Persona - POV>

In the middle of what appeared to be a village, or what was left of it, a strangely painted train carriage of sorts could be seen. On the front was a face of a familiar monkey Digimon smiling smugly into nothingness and on the sides several words announcing the appearance of the strongest and sexiest Digimon in the whole world!

Inside the strange train car several types of machinery could be seen in one corner along with a large number of screens placed on the wall, each screen showing what appeared to be a map of the huge Server Continent in its entirety.

And on one side of the Continent, in the Net Ocean, a small blue dot could be seen very, very slowly approaching the edge of the Continent.

Suddenly the screen changed to a red dot in the middle of the desert as a message appeared in the corner.

"Lord Etemon! We have detected a Sacred Energy spike in the desert! Possibly some Sacred Digimon has recently Digivolved!" Exclaimed a strange Digimon that appeared to be a fusion between a dog and a rabbit, its thick fur was a light bluish-grayish color.

However unlike a dog or a rabbit, this Digimon did not seem particularly friendly, its reddish eyes were sharp, its large claws seemed as sharp as a razor and its overall demeanor looked like that of a typical bad guy from a cheap movie.

This Digimon was none other than Gizamon, one of the many Gizamon that were Etemon's subordinates.

"Hahaha! Finally something to do!" Jumping up Etemon let out a good-natured laugh as "I was starting to get bored of waiting for my next gig..."

Etemon stared into the void suddenly.

"That means..." Gazimon asked tentatively knowing that his boss loved drama.

"Exactly what you think my pathetic minion! My next concert will be in..." Etemon blinked twice behind his glasses before looking sideways at Gazimon. "Where did you say it was?"

Gazimon rolled his eyes. "In the desert."

"My next concert will be in the hot desert!" shouted Etemon as he did a little dance before pulling a microphone out of nowhere and pointing it in a random direction. "Hurry up my fans are waiting for my next performance!"

Gazimon just let out an annoyed sigh before setting off. "At your command..."

<Continent Server Abandoned Church> <Noah - POV>

"Hey Noah"

Herissmon's voice made me raise my gaze to meet the silver hedgehog's own gaze. "Mnn?"

"Shouldn't I go train with them?" Herissmon pointed to where TK, Patamon and BlackGarurumon were 'fighting' with each other, though it looked more like BlackGarurumon was playing with his prey.

"Yeah, you should" I nodded wearily as I let out a small yawn, maybe it wasn't the best idea to stay up late.

'Not even in my dreams does Ogremon leave me alone...' I mentally grumbled as I remembered the constant nightmares I'd had the day before, and although it was simply my brain playing tricks on me, I couldn't help but feel that there was something important inside that nightmare.

Shaking my head past clearing those thoughts I turned my attention back to the silver hedgehog. "However I think this will be better for us than whatever Spartan training BlackGarurumon has prepared... I swear at this point I don't know whether to call him Tsundere or Combat Maniac."

Letting out a silent sigh I picked up one of Herissmon's quills again and began sharpening it with the help of a particularly flat stone.

Why was I sharpening Herissmon's quills you ask?

Well...

[+ Herissmon is capable of sharpening its barbs making them increasingly sharp and lethal, apparently this is a common practice for this Digimon species. It is said that their barbs can become so sharp that they can easily cut through steel]

I had completely forgotten that Herissmon had revealed to me that their species could sharpen their barbs to become as sharp as knives.

Well I hadn't "forgotten" that Herissmon could do exactly that, while I knew there was something I had to do with Herissmon, I had completely forgotten what that something was until I had that talk with BlackGarurumon. It reminded me that, as tempting as it might be, I shouldn't relax and let my guard down by defeating a single particularly strong Adult Digimon.

Anyway, after thinking about it for a couple of hours I came to the conclusion that we urgently needed some kind of defensive measure.

We already had good firepower at both short and long range and a good support move being the power grid, we just needed something we could use to defend against a big attack. Something like Ogremon's shield would be perfect, but unfortunately we didn't get his attack by absorbing his Data.

That's when I remembered the detail of Herissmon's spikes.

I know they're not the best solution but at least it's better than nothing. If any Digimon tried to attack Herissmon it would get hurt by the hedgehog's sharp spikes.

And even if the Tamagochi says they can be sharp enough to cut through steel, it was surely an exaggeration as the Tamagochi tended to do in some of the Digimon descriptions.

"Hmph... I wanted to try that new attack" Herissmon grumbled as he folded his arms and pouted.

"You'll try it sooner or later" I let out a chuckle at the hedgehog's outburst as I put down the last of the spikes and stood up with a stretch. I feel like I've been sitting for hours. "Puff... I think this will be all for today, your quills should now be a little sharper than before."

"Really?" Herissmon asked with a jump as he looked at himself anxiously before shrugging his shoulders and giving me a confused look. "I don't feel any different."

"Well..." I rubbed my head uncomfortably before pointing towards the nearest wall of the church. "Shoot one of your spikes towards the church wall to see what-"

FUSH!

Before I could finish speaking, what appeared to be a silver bullet shot out towards the very wall I had just pointed my finger at. Blinking twice I looked over to where Herissmon's spike had been fired and saw how at least half of the spike was embedded deep inside the thick stone wall.

I slowly turned my gaze to a smiling Herissmon who had stars in his eyes as he stared in fascination at the hole in the wall.

Even though I had accomplished my goal, because I felt I had uncovered a pandora's box?

<Night >

The cold night had fallen upon us once again, leaving us once more inside the church to avoid the overwhelming cold outside and the great winds that brought sand with their erratic movements.

Everyone was asleep, resting close to each other to keep warm and chase away the cold as much as possible with BlackGarurumon feeling the ultimate source of warmth at the moment.

However...

'Why can't I sleep?!' I thought in frustration as I let out a silent sigh and covered my eyes with one of my arms. 'It's been three days already... why do I feel like I'm being watched?'

Since we had decided to rest in this church not a single night had passed where I could sleep peacefully. The first day that incident with TK happened, the second day I had a strange nightmare with Ogremon, and now I feel as if something, or someone, is staring at me.

Carefully getting up so as not to wake anyone, I quietly walked to the statue behind the stone pedestal and sat down at the foot of the large statue. I absentmindedly wondered how it was possible that the statue was still so well preserved even though it had clearly been a long time since this church was built.

Lowering my head to hold it in my hands I let out an annoyed grunt. "That I can't sleep..."

Suddenly a cold but gentle breeze blew through my head, almost as if caressing my hair lovingly. The sudden coldness made me shiver slightly as I raised my head in annoyance before that surprise turned to confusion.

"That's..."

I carefully stood up from the statue's feet looking around me as I approach the pedestal cautiously. Crouching down to the stone base of the pedestal, I could see how there was some sort of empty compartment inside.

Taking the book out of the compartment I ran a finger across its dusty cover leaving a trail in the shape of my finger. Taking a deep breath of air I blew hard causing large amounts of dust and sand to explode into a small cloud.

Moving away from the cloud of dirt, I turned my gaze back to the book which now revealed its title before my eyes.

...God's Fall...
