After loosing her family in a car accident, buried herself in work trying to forget the pain. She was running her mum's coffee shop which made the pain a little easier to bear cause she felt her mum in the shop with her. One-day, a strange man walked into her shop and her world came crumbling down. She felt it and the way he looked at her..... She knew he felt it too... Opal's dad was getting on his nerves. He kept bugging him to find his mate as if it was easy. He's been to three states and nothing. Maybe his mate was dead. Well that was the thought in his head as he walked into 'Lavender Coffee House '. The moment he laid his eyes on her her knew..... She felt it too.
The rain outside was pattering gently against my window. The light hum made me relax as I sipped on the cup of hot chocolate. I flipped through the pages of my book as I ran my hands above the every word I read.
This was how I spent most of my nights alone, in an empty house reading or watching a movie till I pass out.
The clock that hung on the plain ivory wall of my home ticked as I tried to focus on my book as I curled deeper into my sofa. I tried hard not to look at the clock but the ticking was getting really annoying and loud.
"Fucking hell" I cursed beneath my breathe as I sat up examining the damn thing. It was an old clock a very old one for that matter.
My grandmother gave it to my mum when she married my dad because my great grandmother gave it to my grandma when she got married and my mum was to pass it down to her daughter.
You see these nights are the hardest. The rainy nights.
The nights that made me think more ... The nights that made me question everything. The nights that made me think of them and ask a lot of what if questions.
What if I hadn't survived. What if.... I was the one without a seat belt..what if I was the one driving.... What if I was the one in the passenger seat ... What if.. what if .... What if ....
How did I end up here? Why did my life come to?
I was a good girl a good child I did everything in my power to be on top even in my studies I didn't deserve this no one deserves this...
To make things worst , today was my birthday... My first birthday without them.
Sighing, I dropped the mug filled with hot chocolate and walked to my bar. I picked a full bottle of Hennessy and popped it open as I drank straight from the bottle.
I don't need those thoughts and the only thing that can knock me out and clear my head is this bottle of Hennessy.

"Adline!" Screamed a familiar voice that brought a smile to my face.
"Hey Bambi" I smiled as I passed the man in front of me his coffee. He muttered a thank you as he headed out.
"You should go on a break.." she said as she wiped her hands on her apron.
"Are trying to use me to go on a break?" I asked with an amused smile.
"Of course not boss" she winked and I chuckled.
"You can go on a break Bambi I'll be fine"
"You sure?"
"Of course it's noon we'll soon close anyway" I said and she sighed.
"Are you ok?" She asked
" I'm fine Bam.." I was cut off by the ringing of the bell.
"Well looks like we aren't closing soon" Bambi sighed as she rounded the table and went to meet our customers.
After a minute, she came back with thier order.
"Three coffees and a croissant" she said exaggerating the french accent. I let out a small laugh as I prepared thier coffees.
"I'll take the last coffee" I said as I walked behind her.
As I walked towards our customers, the bell on the door jingled and I swear a sweet scent hit me so hard I turned with my whole body.
The man that just walked in also stopped in his tracks as we stared into each other's eyes. My heart felt light and bubbly as I stared into this stranger's eyes. I tired to look away but it was impossible.
The stranger straightened his back as he walked closer to me. He stopped just inches away from me as he said one word which was the sexiest and strangest word I've heard. It felt so smooth coming out of his mouth as his lips moved in slow motion the smile that stretched on his face as he said the word made my heart flutter for no good reason.
"Mate".
