Pranks

Pov Adrian:

I was absolutely shocked, I couldn't believe what I was hearing. Gregory and Clowey were seriously explaining how this orphanage, wasn't an orphanage, but a place for human trafficking, and that all of my friends have been sent off to be slaves.

"You're kidding right, this is a joke?" I said desperately. Looking at both of their faces I could see that they were dead serious. "What about mom and Aunt Erica? Are they in on it?" I said quickly, wanting to get answers.

"Yea they are, and they both know at least one person knows about the truth but doesn't know who," Gregory said, pretty much saying that my entire relationship with Mom and Aunt Erica was fake, and just a play so we won't think anything is wrong.

"Do you have proof?!" I yell. "No, I don't have concrete proof, but why would we lie to you about something like this? But if it helps any, we heard Aunt Erica say in the bathroom "Come on Erica, if you keep being like this you definitely won't get the job, so let's go over the suspect list again, Clowey, Gregory, Adrian, Adriana, Brian, and maybe one of the 7-year-olds are a part of the list, I've checked through all of them but…"

When I heard that I couldn't help but believe them, they were right. Why would they lie about something like this? I take some deep breaths, trying to calm myself. "We have to tell everyone about this!" I quickly stood up but was caught by my arm by Clowey. "Hey!" I yell.

"Think straight Adrian! Do you think that the younger ones would be able to keep a secret like this, and even bear the burden of something like this?" It was like I got slapped in the face by reality, she was right, kids weren't that good at keeping secrets, I could tell they were taking a risk telling me.

I calm myself down and say "Then who are we going to tell?" I asked more calmly than I was before. "We are going to tell your sister and Brian, but no more," Gregory said. That made sense since they were old enough to know about this. "But my sister won't even talk to me, how do you expect to tell her?". I said me and my sister aren't on good terms right now.

"Well you two will just have to make up," he said as if it was the simplest thing. I just stared at him blankly. He stares right back at me. This staring contest goes on for another minute before I say "Fine I'll go makeup with her". I say as I mumble nothing. "We are going with you," Gregory says. "Ugg," I say while dragging my hand over my face.

"Why," I say back. "To help you?" He says while tilting his head. Clowey whispers something in his ear, "Go get brian? That's a good idea" he says while nodding, how does he have such a cheery spirit right now? Little did I know that he was actually under a lot of stress and this was just his way of coping with it.

"Ok so you go get your sister and well get Brian, then we will meet back here, got it?" He said and I just gave him a thumbs up. I walked away to find my sister, which I assumed was in the bedroom, just sitting on one of the beds brooding. Walking through the large field I make my way to the orphanage to find my Sister.

Opening the door to the bedroom, I saw my sister pacing back and forth with her arms crossed as her long blonde hair flew behind her at how fast she was pacing. When she noticed me her green eyes turned sharp. "WHAT do you want you backstabber!" The sharp voice of my sister pierced my ears.

*Sigh* "I'm here to tell you that you are right, I thought about it and I agree, that Mom's cooking is overall better than Erica's, but you have to agree that Erica's pancakes are the best" I decided to come to a compromise with my sister. She looked surprised, usually, we never agree on anything until we get tired of arguing.

"Wait, are you serious?" She said with a befuddled face. "Ya, I am." That is all I say while looking blankly at her. "Also, but remember that Clowey and Gregory wanted to talk to us, it's important," I say seriously. "Hmm, ok I forgive you, where are they again, by the tree right," she says in a sweet voice, it's insane how fast she can turn from a demon to a nice person so fast.

"Ya just follow me, they should be there right now," I say as I lead my sister outside, but before I could make it out the bedroom door I was stopped by Aunt Erica. When I saw her I got slightly scared, though I tried not to show it on my face. "What's this about an important talk?" She said with a mad smile. 'Crap, think, think, how do I get out of this?'. "It's a secret!" I say playfully with a wink.

"What secret, you could tell me, I'm good at keeping them," she said slightly crazy. "Well…" I say to stall for time while I think of a solution. "We were going to prank Brian," I say, hoping that she will go away. "Oh a prank I love pranks, why don't you bring me along?" I was sweating. My sister and I had a hand sign that we would use when we were in distress, but we rarely used it. We had different hand signs for different things, but this one was only ever used once.

My sister looked at this hand sign that I had behind my back and was surprised. She caught on that I was lying by my behavior, she knew me too well. "Aren't you too old for pranks Aunt Erica?" the godsend Adriana swooped in to save me, although we argued a lot we always had each other's back.

"But I insist," Aunt Erica says, it would look suspicious if I continued to refuse so I must agree to let her tag along. "Well… ok Aunt Erica you can come along," I say while sweating bullets. 'Stupid Adrain, Brian is going to be there I think but don't let it show on the outside.

I led Erica and Adiana to the part in the woods where we would have the meeting. Looking ahead of me I saw Gregory, Clowey, and Brian waiting. I saw that they were all confused as to why Aunt Erica was with us.

"Ugg, you do know that to have a meeting about how to prank Brian, Brian must NOT be in the meeting?" My acting skills were on point. Hearing that both Gregory and Clowey looked confused, it seemed that Clowey was able to catch on as she said "didn't you say to go get brian". She said while keeping her confusion. It seemed that Gregory was quick to understand what was going on as he said "ya, I even remember you saying go get Brian" Gregory said. "No, I said DON'T get Brian, I guess you must have heard me wrong," I yelled at them.

"Oh I see now, and what's Aunt Erica doing here," Gregory said skeptically. "She wanted to join in," my sister quipped. "Hey, guys, what the hell is going on?" Brian finally interjected he was just listening to the conversation confused. Brian was a Hispanic child, he had a puff of brown hair and a round face with a soft nose and brown eyes.

I walk up to him and put my arm around him. "Brian welcome to the prank squad," I say out loud then whisper "Just go along with it, for now, we'll explain later." Then my sister pops in again "that's a terrible name" while glaring at me.

"What, do you have a better name?" I argued back and before we knew it we had another argument, though I could tell that this one was an act. Looking at Aunt Erica, she looked dejected, maybe she thought she was on a lead, but our impeccable acting made her think that this was just some more childish fun.

"Ya… I thought this was going to be fun, but I changed my mind, have fun kids" Aunt Erica says before walking away back to the orphanage. I sigh with relief as my sister says "Ok what's going on?" My sister says while crossing her arms.

----------One explanation later----------

Both my sister and Brian were completely shocked as I was when I heard about the news, I saw the same process that I was going through going on right in front of me. "Wait so you're telling me my entire life has been a lie," Brian said as he started massaging his muscles. "Yea so how you 3 recollect yourself and we'll talk about the plan in a couple of days," Gregory says.

(My neighbors are blasting Spanish music right now as I write this as I'm on the toilet, that has to deserve some power stones and a review.)
