Brother Voodoo l

This is how the world is supposed to work: You give and you take. Cause and effect.

Ordinary people. They operate within a certain set of parameters, right? Rules. Limits.

Then theres people like me. I like to cheat, we like to cheat. We trick the universe into handing us effects without the cause: Things we didn't earn.

Thats magic. Twisting time and space, warping minds, creating life, for people like me, there are no rules and that makes people like me…..very, very dangerous.

Well.....there are no people like me, no one like Jeremiah Kingsley- or should I say, Jericho Drumm? A cooler name and a cooler body than my old one, the one I had to die to get rid of.

What? Don't believe me? I guess thats fine, not many people would, so I get it. Reincarnation- or is it Transmigration- doesn't matter! What matters is for the last 5 years I've found myself in a fictional world, the world of DC.

"When the moon has risen in the sky, the curse will have spread as far as the eye can see. Death, devastation, and the end of your city-"

"Oh! Im sorry, I wasn't listening, was that a question?" I was brought out of my daydreaming by this demon. "I've been feining for some crawfish for a couple of hours."

The demon that currently inhabited a midget took quite some time to respond to me, "You'd put the fate of this entire city in mortal peril over your seafood?" His face wide grin stretched even more, showing off more of those yuck wridden teeth. "Only a creature of flesh and blood could be so deeply flawed."

"This is coming from one of the 'Prince Of Lies' little playthings. Stupid malphite! To be honest…you shouldn't be talking." I reached back and slapped the shit out of his vessel.

He tried to bite my face off, again, but the hands of the dead keep him firmly gripped against the tiled roof of a movie theater. "Well you can keep calling me that!!! You know that without my real name you have no real power over me!!!" His temper was riling up, but what else was there to expect for such a black souled creature?

He keep going though, "But I imagine if you've sent one innocent soul to hell, what's 1 million more?"

"Any particular soul in mind?" I guess for right now I 'needed' to follow his demands. Apparently, when the moon rises, everyone in New Orleans will be possessed by a demon, so unless I damn a 'innocent' person to hell, the city is pretty much done. I couldn't take him seriously.

I began to circle around him as he mockingly perused his thoughts. "How about the twin brother you killed in the womb?" Ahh, trying to ripe me up?

"Classic Cain and Abel, unoriginal….try again." I responded simply.

"Ohhh, how about the sister you let get murdered? Im sure betraying her once again wouldn't be surprising."

"Didn't she tell me to run away? I mean….I was 7. What was I gonna do?" I shrugged it off. I had all the memories from this body already downloaded and organized in my brain. The ones that came before me inhabiting the body didn't really faze me.

"How about the school teacher you brutally murdered?"

"You mean the convicted pedo that touched my friend? He's innocent to you? What are your classifications for innocent?" Now I was truly confused, why did he think Mr. KiddyTickler is innocent.

"Thats it? Thats all he did?" Ahhhhh…..yes, I forgot, this is a demon. The things they do in hell makes pedo's look like a true, God fearing person. "Well….I suggest you find a innocent quick." He smiled.

I shook my head in absolute disbelief, 'How could these things be so stupid?' I looked the little imp up and down, taking in the idiocy of it. "Nah…I don't really need too."

"What? You-"

"If you don't cancel this spell im gonna douse you in holy oil and burn you with blessed fire. After you're scorched, im gonna bind you in priestly wrappings, put you in a blessed coffin and bury you alive under a church….do you understand me?" I leaned in close so I could watch as the horror of my words shined in his dark eyes. "Do. You. Understand?"

He nodded rapidly. "I-I-Im sorry." He stuttered out before I felt the magic from him deactivate a spell that hung in the sky. We waited together, quietly, for an hour as the sun came up. I looked around and saw no changes in behavior nor did I sense anymore demonic activity.

"Good." His body morphed and swirled into vile black energy before sucking itself into my necklace. A talisman I kept all the demons I personally defeated…I guess. "Time for some sea food." I wiped off my hands and with a magical flex, I was in front of 'Joe's Crab Shack'.
