Closing the first case

Erica and Fire finally allowed me to come out of bed rest and I could walk down stairs to the bar. I set at the same booth I had been sitting when I first gotten the job. A warm cup of coffee was waiting for me and large beefy sandwich was waiting for me. I slid into the booth taking a bite from sandwich and enjoyed the flavorful rich taste.

I quickly finished my sandwich and picked up the coffee taking sip and I smiled. That was a rich reward after weeks of being in bed unable to move or have sex with two warm females next to me in bed. I looked up as the double doors to the Crossroads as I saw Angie entering with a glowing grin on her face and large money purse in her hands.

"How's it going big sis?" I said taking another sip from my coffee.

Angie giggled. "It's going amazingly well little brother. I got your money for you and a lead on an apartment for you." She said coming over she gentle placed the bag on the table and leaned over to kiss me on cheek. "You rested." She said.

I nodded. "I'm well rested and very bored. You got another case for me to handle." I said taking another sip from my coffee.

Angie shook her head. "Oh no. I'm afraid your little mates have been taking more then enough cases on your behalf. So for the moment your pretty much left to your own handsome. Are you up for some training?" She asked.

I shrugged. "Sure. I'm up for doing anything productive. I've been in bed for the entire two weeks I've been held up. I thought were-wolves would have a faster healing factor you know." I said.

Angie shook her head. "In most normal cases yes. In other cases such as magical attacks. No. You endured surviving an explosion, magical shockwaves and having to endure me accidentally hitting you with lightning attacks. I'm sorry about that again." She said.

I waved away her apology. "We were in a battle. You had to go all out with that idiot. Oh did the doc do an examination on that the body afterward?" I asked.

Angie frowned but nodded. "Of course. It was very interesting discover of a great many things. It was as you and I suspected. Her brain was literally rutting away from sickness and the rest of her body was riddle with alcohol poison and other ailments. She was dying and if we hadn't have put her down soon enough I don't know whatever craziness she would have attempted before her body possibly exploded from the damaged she induced to it over the decades." She said.

I shook my head. "Is that a common effect or way of dying for immortal mage-born or Draconian?" I said.

Angie shook her head. "Yes and no. Immortals in general got out in different ways. Before his Majesty took the throne from the former king. The old King was showing signs of brain rut but he could still maintain some level of control and he wasn't a true magic user. Mage-born depending on their level show different signs or hide the sides as best as they can. The poisons Mabelle injected into her body sped up the process of your brain and body rutting away at a faster rate." She said.

I shook my head. "How are you going to avoid it?" I asked her.

Angie smiled shaking her head. "I might not little brother. I'm not a true immortal just yet. I've only just mastered lightning. I still have to master the other elements and then i have to take my test. But, I'm different from Mabelle. Mabelle was a spinster, a drunk and abuser of over poisons and thought to highly of herself then she should have. I've been mated to Mr. Big for many years and I keep my body in top conditioning and after our fight with Mabelle his Majesty has advised me against drinking and I have other limitations put on me by my elders as I advance in power and age." She said and shrugged.

I stared at her. "What can you teach me now while I don't got a case in the works?" I asked.

Angie studied my face. "What elements are you comfortable wielding at present that you've observed from your body?" She asked.

I shrugged. "Earth and fire for the most part. Nothing else to my knowledge currently. Both elements helped me in pinch. Though I don't think I really understand how it works. It's all my instinctive connection." I said.

Angie nodded her head. She suddenly held out her hand and pushed me back against my seat gentle with a wall of wind and air. I stared at her. "What was that?" I asked.

Angie smiled. "Wind shield. It is a primary element that Iron Born tribe of this world use to control the wind and use it as a means of defense or travel for their airships and to operate their air city in the eastern region of this realm." She said.

I smiled. "A Sky city. Hell. I would love to see that. So your going to teach me how to use a wind magic?" I said.

Angie shook her head. "No. I'm going to teach you how to use elemental wind as a force to shield yourself or force back an opponent stronger then yourself. It's for defensive means only." She said.

I nodded understanding her thinking. "Okay. I could use a means of defending myself better. I got a ask a question though. I was told their are three powers in this world. The Draconian, Mage-born and the were-kind is this true?" I asked.

Angie frowned shaking her head. "It was true a hundred years ago in the days the old king was in his prime. When his Majesty took the throne on the hill by combat it is not true at all. The lines of power are in shifting. The Draconian are still at the top from power, and dominance and numbers alone. The mage-born are few in number and hold their position only because of a few individuals. The were-kind are locked in secondary position now for their rising numbers and they've become more centralized and united in defending their land. A new power to come about are the Iron Born. They are the technologically advanced group that used their numbers, intelligence and natural elemental power over the air to hold a new position as third strongest. His Majesty himself is an elemental wind master and he was educated in the Iron born city as a doctor. So in reality there are four levels of power presently in this realm." She said.

I nodded. "Interesting. So are you a master of elemental wind?" I asked her.

Angie grinned but she shook her head. "No. I'm a student. I take lesson from his Majesty. To come a true master is to advance to flight power and my class is battle mage. I have very little use or need for flight so I continue learn as much as I need to master the basic principles and over time I will teach you as much. Though I would advise you against learning anymore elemental magical systems." She said.

I nodded. "I got you. Hold on let me check my system screen real quick. System menu up!" I said.

I frowned. "Personal status!" I said.

"What do you see?" Angie said.

"I have a new brother. His name is-" I said but stopped when she put a finger to my lips.

She stared at me. "Wait a bit until he shows up. Trust me. revealing things before their time only ends up causing problems. Now. I want you to try and do what I just did." She said and the put a pencil on the table and motioned at it. "Try and push this pencil toward me." She said.

I looked at the pencil and held my hand up at it. It caught fire and Angie quickly put it out with a gust of wind. I sighed. "Damn." I said.

Angie smiled. "Easy. Take a breath. Breath in and out. and blow gentle." She said.

I sighed and held up my hand. I breathed in and out. I relaxed my body and mind and blew out air from my mouth. My hand glowed for a second before the pencil began to roll a little forward and then stopped.

Angie picked up the pencil and then she set the pencil back in the place she had set it before. "Alright do it again and this time use your hand and not your mouth." She said with a grin.
