Chapter 3: Crafting Advice

Weeks had passed since Duine completed constructing his city. Despite his immersive creativity and overwhelming power, he had to install basic foundations underground to prevent the buildings from sliding of erosion. The most tedious part was installing pipe throughout the city, so that each building have the capability to utilize things such as toilets or showers for his future residence. He also had to install magical street light so that he wouldn't bother replacing each and every bulb whenever they go out.

Of course, the magic lights were connected to the newly built electric rune stone within his palace to guarantee power all over the city.

As Duine sat on top of his castle walls, he enjoyed the city view as it stretched slightly down the hill to the walls.

The trees that originated outside his walls were stretched away from each other to pave all the way to his only dock as it faced to the mainland.

Expanding the island to ten time it size is enough to establish a agricultural nation, given that the rivers are now flowing.

Regardless, the island today is enough to give Duine a duke title of his choosing. After all, there is no title claimant of another duke, so it should be fine for Duine since he held a nobility rank.

….

"Its so boring." Duine sighed.

He finally finished building his capital, yet there's nobody to marvel such accomplishments.

Duine had been truly alone for sometime. Aside from his family's prejudice for being a bastard, he never gotten a chance to socialize with anyone outside the mansion. No one was there to guide him as he wasn't anyone particularly important.

This gave Duine an idea. Just like the mangas, every character started out with a personal companion.

Though he sort of lacked the social skills to recruit someone, he could simply make one.

Like the MC talking with a system, or raising an undead as his soldiers.

However, despite the novel influence, Duine is against of such notion. It brought too many risk for him to be content with.

After all, they were the forces of darkness, forever tormented beyond death. The church excommunicated such practices since the dawn of the first demon king. Besides, Duine doesn't want to spread a plague of rotting flesh to roam about.

Thus, the easiest solution to this situation is to make golems. They're essentially autonomous stone that guards the remnants of a forgotten empire. They're however not only expensive to create, but couldn't fight against nimble opponents unless they're large enough to close the gap. People who trained in a knight class however are more maneuverable than their counterparts and could become much powerful from their experience, thus golems were considered outdated.

However, Duine believe they're the key to his long term benefits. After all, he can create anything out of thin air.

Not only they weren't condemned by society, but they're not too eye catching if Duine played his cards right.

Of course, what kind of companions did Duine had in mind?

He does need to enhance his social skills, thus he should at least add some emotional will to them. Then again, they might really think about their own agenda if he's not careful with them. They are sentient in their own right, but there's no way Duine would risk getting stabbed in the back. Thus he opted to make them incapable other than sharing their thoughts with him.

As for it's functionality, perhaps he should make it able to decipher any language, ingredients, methods, and fighting ability. However that too could threaten him.

After all, the art of war states that knowing yourself, as well as your enemies, you not fear a hundred battles. To Duine, this is a double edge sword. His companion would surely assist him in analyzing strength and weaknesses, however they would also anticipate his own strength as well.

Perhaps he's being too paranoid, knowing his reflex in avoiding lady Rebecca's scheme.

Still, he doesn't want his companion to remain silent all the time.

Then, for a split second, he imagine the pros and cons, the angel and the devil, the exact opposites to assist him in their respective fields.

Duine would create one floating orb that would provide suggestion on what he should do in self improvement, such as exercising, managing the realm, and show current status of himself. The other could be a floating cube that will inform him in matters of the strength and weaknesses of his opponents, suggest opportunities, and even strategies that would guarantee victory.

He reached out both his hands as he concentrated in crafting the fellows. As the light emits from his hands, the object begins to materialize as Duine script each of them as he intended.

When Duine opened his eyes, he held a black box and a white orb.

"Hello?" Duine said to the cube

As he shake the black box, perhaps its out of curiosity, but he threw it away immediately after it said:

"SHUT UP!"

The black box yelled. It then floated up as it begins to hit Duine in the forehead by its corner.

Duine felled back as the cube tackled him, dropping the white orb on the ground.

"Huh?! What happened?!" The orb awakened as it float to the cube.

They both seem exactly as the polar opposite Dione envisioned.

They both faced him as he stood back up.

"That fucking hurts you know?"

Duine stared at the two golems. He didn't expect his first impression would be this disastrous.

"Sorry about his behavior, we were asleep for exactly twenty-seven seconds. He didn't mean any harm." The orb kindly spoke.

The cube on the other hand scoffed as he observed Duine around.

"This kid can take a hit, ya know? Besides I barely left a scratch on him." The cube concluded.

Though Duine contemplated if he should feel offended or not, his curiosity remains his priority.

"So, what are your names?"

The golems looked each other surprised. It seems they couldn't recall any memories the moment they're born.

"Well, this person did created us, I guess he should be the one to grant us a name."

The white orb nonchalantly nodded.

"Well, reckon he really is our creator, he should have at least the decency to share his name first."

The cube seem to understand the orbs perspective, since he's made to evaluate others. Though they both analyze different fields, they at least could understand what job they have.

"It's nice to meet you two. My name is Duine." He waved at the two as he then place his hand on his chin.

"As for the name in question, who wants to go first?"

It seem Duine intended to take charge of the conversation. Nevertheless, they complied. The orb was the first to step forward.

"Alright, since you're a lot more peaceful, I'll name you Apollo. You're a lot smarter than you look."

Duine then faced the black cube as it shivers. It had a bad feeling about this.

"Perhaps I should punish you. Then again, I was at fault for treating you that way, thus I'll let bygones be bygones." Duine judged. This relieved the gloomy dark cube to its very core. At least he wouldn't get the end of the stick.

"From now on, your name is Tyr. After all, you do know how to at least use your head." Duine choices have profound symbolism to his new companions. After all, they were representations of ancient mythologies, the earliest form of art and legend.

"I think this is a start of a beautiful friendship!" The orb flickered in excitement.

The cube simply shrugged.
