Creating My Own Empire In The Apocalypse

The Universe is being devoured. Worlds are being destroyed. Only the strongest universe can escape this destruction. ... [The Apocalypse is about to begin. The host should be mentally prepared.] "What the fuck!" Li Chen cursed, his eyes widening. Li Chen was an earthling who found himself transmigrated into a cultivation world, only to be confronted by the onset of an apocalypse. Without hesitation, he prepared to slit his throat with a sword. As an earthling, he had watched many movies and knew the horror of apocalypses; thus, he was not ready for that in his second life. [ARE YOU CRAZY!!] "Don’t you know? Crazy is my middle name. Send me back now or you’ll see crazy." [Wait. Wait. Wait] Even though he was ready to end his life, when he heard what he could achieve and that he could finally fulfill his fantasy of marrying gods, devils, and demons, he hesitated. "Fine... I agree," he finally relented, dropping the sword. Unbeknownst to him, he had agreed to more than he had bargained for.

The Darkness of human heart.

Close to the center of the village, a horde of zombies was trooping toward a specific building.

Inside the building, a group of Kunlun Sword Sect disciples were fighting tooth and nail with the zombies.

"Ahhh!"

A girl screamed in pain as one of the zombies bit off her arm. She fell to the ground with panic all over her face.

"Someone, please save me," she cried, trying to distance herself from the incoming zombies.

But Ziheng's cold, emotionless voice shattered her hope of being saved by her fellow disciples.

"They bit her; we must kill her immediately before she turns into those vile things."

When the other disciples heard him, they all nodded, and a body from the group rushed to finish her off.

In the distance, Elder Lan watched the cold brutality of one of their disciples killing them but had nothing to say.

She knew those vile things had the ability to infest other people if they bit them.

Left with no choice, she chose to ignore their actions and focus on dealing with the never-ending stream of zombies.

Moreover, the blood rain was terrifying; no one dared step into the rain to close the main entrance.

Bang! Bang!

Xia smashed the head of a zombie to pieces with a big hammer while panting heavily.

After fighting the zombies, they discovered their previous weapons would be useless against them in the long run.

Thus, every one of them opted for a blunt weapon.

As she tried to catch her breath, she raised her head, looked at the new stream of zombies, and shivered.

"We can't continue like this or we will die of exhaustion," she muttered.

Standing close to her were two male disciples, and one of them responded.

"Xia, you're right. We must find a way to hide from these vile things."

When she heard this, her face brightened up, and without waiting for others, she rushed toward the inner part of the building.

Quickly, her two loyal dogs followed after her. Watching the three escaping as if their lives depended caught the attention of everyone in the courtyard.

Before they could react, the group entered a room and locked the door.

When the disciples saw this, they were stunned. They looked at each other, not knowing what to do.

"What are you trying to do?" Elder Lan asked with a deep frown on her face.

"Elder Lan, we can't continue to kill these things. They're getting stronger by the minute," Jiao responded.

"So are you going to hide forever?" She responded and cleaved the head of another zombie.

Ziheng looked at her with hidden disdain and then looked at his girlfriend, holding her hand.

"Elder Lan, you're stronger than us, and you can continue to kill them for us," he said and dragged Jiao to one of the vacant rooms.

Just as Elder Lan wanted to berate them, a bald man entered the courtyard with a lifeless expression.

Looking at Elder Lan, he drooled, and his head split open, and the terrifying viper came rushing toward its prey.

"W-What the…" Elder Lan was stunned, and without hesitating, she used her movement skill to evade the attack.

Even though the world did not have spiritual energy anymore, as a previously powerful cultivator with movement skill ingrained into muscle memory, she was able to use a bit of its power.

Hiss!

A loud, piercing hiss came from the viper when it missed its prey, but its eyes locked on the stunned disciples in the distance.

Whoosh!

It appeared before the stunned disciple and bit off his head.

Watching the carnage, the other disciples scrambled off in trepidation.

Elder Lan's heart was thumping wildly in her chest; she looked at the terrifying viper and felt a cold shiver down her spine.

'How is this possible?' she exclaimed in her heart.

'What sorcery is this?'

In a blink, the deadly viper had bitten off three disciples' heads, and a burp escaped from its mouth.

Slowly, it turned to Elder Lan's direction. The viper's fangs rolled forward and backward, ready to devour its prey.

Both the human and the viper stared at each other for a couple of seconds before the viper dashed towards her at a breathtaking speed.

Before Elder Lan could react, the viper was already right in front of her, with its maw wide open.

"Danger!"

All the hair on her body stood up straight; her heart was in her throat, breathless, without blinking. She reacted based on her instinct and moved to the side.

"Bang!"

The viper's head crashed into the wall, destroying it to pieces, and Elder Lan rolled on the floor in trepidation.

Quickly, she got on her feet and escaped with her greatest speed.

Unfortunately, she was a tad bit slow, and she was flung by the viper.

"Ahhh!"

A miserable scream escaped from her mouth with blood splattering everywhere. Yet, she got back on her feet and rushed to the nearest room for safety.

Just as she was about to enter the closest room, Jiao looked at her straight in the eyes and shut the door tightly.

"Sorry, Elder Lan, we can't allow you to bring the monster inside," she muttered without a change in her cold expression.

Realizing she had been left for dead, Elder Lan gritted her teeth and rushed to the other rooms.

Unfortunately, the doors were all locked, and right behind her was the viper.

She tried to dodge the viper's attack once again, but she was too slow for the deadly attack and was sent flying.

She crashed into the wall, puking out a mouthful of blood. For a moment, her head was dizzy, everything blurred.

However, she heard the heart-piercing hiss of the viper nearby. She bit her tongue and got back on her feet, ready to rush into the room to try her luck outside the building.

Just then, she heard a low voice.

"Elder Lan, this side."

Without thinking twice, she rushed toward the voice direction and saw six disciples bundled together inside a room.

As she entered the room, the boy that opened the door for her shut the door immediately, and the viper crashed into the door.

"Bang!"

"What are you doing? Find something to put behind the door to prevent it from breaking," the boy shouted, his voice filled with urgency.

Quickly, the group pushed a wardrobe with a bit of difficulty behind the door.

But then, the viper crashing against the door stopped all of a sudden.

"Has the beast gone?" a voice asked.
