Creating My Own Empire In The Apocalypse

The Universe is being devoured. Worlds are being destroyed. Only the strongest universe can escape this destruction. ... [The Apocalypse is about to begin. The host should be mentally prepared.] "What the fuck!" Li Chen cursed, his eyes widening. Li Chen was an earthling who found himself transmigrated into a cultivation world, only to be confronted by the onset of an apocalypse. Without hesitation, he prepared to slit his throat with a sword. As an earthling, he had watched many movies and knew the horror of apocalypses; thus, he was not ready for that in his second life. [ARE YOU CRAZY!!] "Don’t you know? Crazy is my middle name. Send me back now or you’ll see crazy." [Wait. Wait. Wait] Even though he was ready to end his life, when he heard what he could achieve and that he could finally fulfill his fantasy of marrying gods, devils, and demons, he hesitated. "Fine... I agree," he finally relented, dropping the sword. Unbeknownst to him, he had agreed to more than he had bargained for.

Becoming a Level 1 Warrior

After killing the mutant zombie, Li Chen was like a madman, killing zombies for fun.

Even though he was on a killing spree, he always chose his battles carefully. He never fought more than five zombies at the same time.

Covered in blood, he returned to his small room in the Wild Goose Chamber.

"That was one hell of a fight," Hera commented as he took his seat on the cold, hard ground.

"You can say that again," Li Chen retorted with a light smile on his face.

During his fight, he could feel his strength increasing. He did not get exhausted as quickly as earlier when he tried to escape from the sect.

Looking at his Battle Sense Stats, he nodded with a grin.

Though he was still weak, the slight improvement served as a motivation for him.

Wiping off the bead of blood from his face, he took the pouch hanging on his waist and poured the contents onto the ground.

Over fifty red crystals fell from the pouch, and the light coming from them illuminated the room.

"Hera, let's get down to business," he uttered with seriousness.

"I thought you would never ask," Hera responded happily.

"It only has a single step. Cut your palm slightly and place a single crystal in it," she said slowly, her voice filled with seriousness.

"After that, you only need to hold the crystal tightly and absorb it," she concluded.

Li Chen did not start cutting his hand immediately. He thought for a moment and asked,

"How will I know when I reach level one warrior?"

"You will know when you become a level 1 Warrior."

"Alright." He nodded and took his dagger, cutting his palm, blood streaming out.

Without hesitation, he placed a crystal on it and folded his palm tightly.

"Relax and let the energy enter your body," Hera advised.

He nodded and exhaled. Slowly, he began to feel a slight itching on his palm but did not open it.

After a couple of seconds, he felt a pure stream of energy entering his body.

As the energy invaded his body, he could feel his fatigue and soreness slowly fading away.

Hmm!

A slight moan escaped from his mouth, and his face reddened. He did not expect the sensation he got from the energy to elicit such a reaction from him.

Just as he was about to get embarrassed, he realized the energy had stopped flowing into his hand.

"What happened?" he thought out loud and opened his palm.

He creased his brow when he saw the previous red crystal had lost its luster and had become empty.

"That's why you need a lot of crystals to break through to Level 1," Hera's voice echoed in his head.

"I see…" he muttered with a look of realization.

The energy in each crystal was not enough to promote him to a Level 1 Warrior.

'It's good that I have more than fifty,' he thought and placed another crystal on his palm.

Just like that, he cultivated with the crystals.

Thirty minutes later, the over fifty crystals were reduced to five, and he had not heard the notification of him breaking through to level 1.

'Do I need to hunt for more?' he thought with slight disappointment.

However, when he placed the 51st crystal on his palm, something changed.

Li Chen felt his body heating up from inside out. Before he knew it, he was sweating bullets, and his chest was rising and falling.

Instead of panicking, he calmed down and waited for this sensation to complete.

Suddenly, he heard a snap in his head and felt something break in his body.

[Ding!]

[Congratulations! You've become a Level 1 Warrior]

[Reward: Common Grade Broadsword.]

Out of thin air, an intimidating broadsword appeared before him. The broadsword was brown with strange markings on it.

Looking at the broadsword mesmerized him, and he couldn't help but pick it up to feel it.

"What a nice weapon," he muttered in excitement.

"What do you expect? Anything from the system is cream of the crop," Hera said.

"But I'll advise you to check your stats," she added.

Li Chen nodded and checked his stats.

"Wow! I've gotten stronger," he exclaimed with wide eyes.

"Yes, you are no longer an ordinary human. Your body can now house mana to boost your bodily functions," Hera explained.

"I see…" he nodded and looked at his palm, seeing the cut was slowly healing.

"Don't get too cocky. You're still too weak and could be killed anytime."

"I know… but let me enjoy the fruits of my hard work."

Suddenly, a loud rumbling echoed throughout the sky, shaking the ground vehemently.

"How is this possible?!" Hera exclaimed.

"What is….."

Before he could complete his sentence, a terrifying pain came from the depths of his soul, and he screamed.

It was not only him feeling the horrifying pain; everyone was feeling the same.

Those who could not withstand it turned into zombies immediately. While that was going on, the previously unintelligent zombies had a slight flicker of intelligence in their eyes, and their noses twitched.

Slowly, they began to move, hunting for their prey. But this time around, with more purpose and direction.

Meanwhile, Li Chen easily broke off the pain and gasped for air.

"If you've decided to use this place as your territory, claim it now!" Hera's voice was filled with urgency.

Filled with confusion, Li Chen wanted to ask what was going on when he heard many miserable screams coming from other rooms.

All the previously closed doors were opened, and rapid footsteps echoed in the hallway as if they were escaping from their nightmare.

"Please don't kill me!"

"Hubby! It's me, your wife— AHHHH!"

"P-Please…. Let me…. AHHH!"

"Someone… Save me….. AHHHH!"

Listening to the cries of anguish and pleas for help, Li Chen shivered and, without hesitating, claimed the building as his territory.

[Congratulations! You've claimed your territory.]

[To gain your reward, please survive the Blood Rain.]
