Choosing second to come first

It begins a bit rough but improves as it progresses just due to it being my first work, the world as everyone knew it changed, John though refused to bend or bow, well others seemed to be corrupted and changed by there choices John kept his sanity, or rather had no sanity to hold onto as the voices in his head that others beside his best friend dismissed as imaginary become more prominent, as he sets out to make his mark he learns the nature of the changes to the world, finding out more and striving to get stronger and to kill the so called gods who where responsible for it, but everything comes at a cost. So just a small heads up, it starts a little rough but I can promise it Improves as the chapters go on, a bit slow but it's my first real novel so hope you all enjoy it :-) Ps. This story is writing itself, so all the twists and turns are by its own choice as I'm just the one putting it on digital paper as odd as that sounds, share a stone if you like it and I'll also try to keep as consistent as I can with updates.

Chapter 3: Echoes of Darkness

Chapter 3: Echoes of Darkness

Hana had chosen the class of a "Divine Healer." In response, she now donned a white robe with blue trim and held a golden staff with a cross on it. She spoke with a newfound devotion, claiming that her god would help them all with his divine light.

Steel opted for a class called "Imperial Gladiator." His appearance transformed, and he found himself wearing strange-looking Roman armor, radiating strength and determination.

Shay's choice was the class of a "Wildshifter." As a result, he appeared more primal, with fur covering his arms, his pupils sunken and slanted, resembling a feral beast.

Stacy embraced the class of a "Fire Enchantress." Her clothes changed to a long red dress, and her hair turned into a fiery red, as if embodying the very flames she controlled.

Andy chose to become an "Ice Warden." Her hair turned a dark blue, almost black, and she wore a dark blue dress that contrasted with Stacy's fiery appearance, shooting her a cold glare.

Lucy's choice was a class called "Shadow Dancer." Her appearance changed dramatically, clad in a red and black corset, short black skirt, white stockings, and gloves. Her hair grew long, black as night, with red streaks. She looked both alluring and dangerous.

As for Amy, her choice was a rather unique and mysterious class. Her skin took on a scaled appearance, her hair fell out, and her body went through a visible transformation, gasping for air and writhing in pain. Unfortunately, her transformation seemed too much for her to handle, and she ultimately perished.

"Oh, dear, dear Amy," the jester remarked, his voice dripping with false regret and semi-mockery. "Such an adventurous spirit, but alas, not everyone can handle the grandeur of the choices presented." The jester continued almost laughing as he looked down at her lifeless form, a hint of a smirk playing on his lips. "Perhaps the allure of becoming a mermaid was too much for her to resist. After all, one must learn that in this game-like world, choices have consequences."

As for the others with their transformations complete and their classes chosen, the group members' personalities seemed to shift. Hana, clad in her white robe with blue trim, held her golden staff with a cross tightly, her eyes glinting with zealous fervor. "Fear not, my blessed companions!" she declared, her voice resonating with unwavering faith. "For my god shall guide us, his light illuminating our path and burning away the darkness!"

Stacy, her fiery red hair matching her dress, sneered at Hana's display of devotion. "Oh please, spare us your righteous act, preacher girl," she retorted, her voice filled with scorn. "We each made our choices, and now it's time to forge our own paths."

Shay, now wild-looking with feral traits, growled in agreement, his pupils slanted with an animalistic intensity. "Yeah, let's stop wasting time with this zealotry and get moving. I'm itching to test out my new powers on something," he said, licking his lips hungrily.

Hana shot him a disapproving look, but it didn't deter her unwavering faith. She walked up to Shay, and with a saccharine smile, she leaned closer. "Your fate was sealed the moment you chose the path of darkness," she said with zeal. "Prepare yourself, beast, for my god's light will cleanse the world of your darkness!"

Before anyone could intervene, Hana plunged the cross of her staff into Shay's chest, twisting it with a chilling grin. The air crackled with energy as Shay's form began to burn and glow, his wild demeanor now overwhelmed by searing pain. He gasped and struggled, but it was futile.

Hana, still twisting the staff, seemed to relish in Shay's agony, her eyes gleaming with fanatic glee. "Beasts like you have no place in this world!" she taunted, her voice rising to a crescendo of righteous fury.

The burning light seemed to sear Shay's very soul as his transformation into a "Wildshifter" was reversed, leaving him vulnerable and defenseless. Yet, even in agony, he refused to yield to Hana's zealous fanaticism.

As Shay's pained howls echoed through the room, Hana's expression grew even more fanatical, her voice rising to a fervent pitch. "Purge the darkness! Embrace the divine purity! Let the flames of my god's righteousness consume you, and you shall be reborn in his light!"

Shay's body continued to burn and disintegrate, his defiance slowly fading as the radiant energy consumed him. As the ashes scattered, Hana stood tall, her gaze unyielding, and an unsettling sense of satisfaction washed over her.

"You have been judged and found wanting. Your existence was an affront to my god's grace," she declared, her voice resonating with absolute conviction. "Now, your impurity is no more, and my god's light shines brighter."

Stacy watched with an unsettling mix of fascination and indifference. "Looks like the so-called light has a dark side too," she remarked, her tone cold and detached.

Lucy, clad in her alluring attire, observed the scene with a calculating gaze. "Power is all that matters," she mused, her voice low and sultry. "I wonder how strong her 'god' really is."

In contrast, John remained silent in the background, observing the scene with a mixture of caution and intrigue. He understood the darkness that was seeping into his companions' hearts after embracing their classes. It was as if their choices had corrupted them, and he couldn't help but wonder about what consequences of his own decision may bring.

With the group in turmoil and chaos, Stacy took the initiative and declared a temporary truce, suggesting that they each go their separate ways for now. She had no intention of letting Hana off the hook for her brutal actions, but for the time being, it was better to avoid further confrontation.
