Chapter Twenty-One: Angel x Golden POV: The Ties Of Blood

Song recommended: Worth Saving By Jessie Reyez

The ride back to my apartment was quiet. The girls had been dropped off and I had decided that instead of staying over their place. I would go home. No matter how much they had tried, I could feel their questioning gazes when Halo had brought me back. They had questioned why I had gone to the dancefloor and pointed out someone who wasn't even there.

But I was sure that I had seen him.

Halo had told everyone to get back to their drinking and to enjoy the club. I had tried, I really had but on the inside, I was starting to feel as though I was losing it. How had someone who had touched me and stood so close to me, turned into smoke?

I had looked into his eyes, I had felt him touch me and I had felt my very body burn with desire but when Halo had appeared it was like I appeared to be insane. How had she not seen him when he had held me as though his very own prized possession?

Or had I truly lost it?

"Ma'am we are here." came the voice of the uber driver. "Oh, thank you. Enjoy your night." She said as she got off, knowing that she had paid electronically. "You too," he said and drove off.

She stumbled as she walked up the stairs towards her apartment floor, thinking it was better to try and get her body to fight for control despite the buzz of the alcohol. Her mind seemed to be playing tricks on her cause as soon as she turned the corner to get on another set of stairs.

She saw him sitting there.

Their eyes locked and she felt her body tremble slightly. "You…" she slurred and everything went dark for a second. Right when she opened her eyes again, she felt as though she was on-air and when her eyes tried to focus for a second. She saw him carrying her up the stairs.

When her eyes closed and opened again, he saw her entering the apartment with her. He walked straight to the room and placed her on the bed lightly. She watched him move around the room, placing certain things away and taking off her shoes. He disappeared for a second and returned to the room with a cloth.

"Whaaa-" she slurred, confused as to what he was about to do with it. but then she saw him sit by the side of the bed, wiping her face and she realized. That he was wiping the make-up. "If you don't wipe your makeup, it can damage your skin, I've seen this too many times with my female friends." He whispered.

The warm cloth seemed to drag her closer to sleep than anything and she wanted to stay up so that she could just lay with him. She wanted to question him on why he had left her. Wanted to question him on why he had decided to do that to her at that club but for some reason, she kept quiet and took in what he did for her.

"When I open my eyes will you be gone?" she whispered, feeling too tired to keep her eyes open for a long time. "You know I have to." He said softly. She felt his hands unclip one clip that had been holding a piece of her hair in place. Making her sigh with newfound pleasure.

"Lay with me please." She whispered, "Before you leave me again." She watched him hesitate as though if they did so he would burn forever. Yet when they locked eyes, he nodded and took his shoes off. He got on the bed and reached to the other side of her, pulling the blanket that had been rolled to the side.

Covering them both, she relaxed into his hold and laid on his chest. She could hear the way his heartbeat and take in his scent. He smelled like a fresh forest and it made her slightly swoon for it. That every scent comforted her and made her feel as though she was close to heaven.

"Don't abandon me again, please." She whispered and when she felt him place a kiss on her forehead she shivered. An let herself drift off to sleep.

He watched her body relax completely and he knew she had finally fallen asleep. He didn't know what he was doing here but Halo had given him a call and told him what had happened at the club. Though his uncle had told him to stay away, he needed to make sure that she hadn't harmed herself.

Your lying, you wanted to see if she was okay without you.

No, I wanted to see if she was okay. Halo had scared him when she had said that she was seeing things. Usually, he would say that's fine and move on but this time. He couldn't help but need to see if she was okay. It would happen at times that the fallen angels would struggle to adapt but she had been doing well for weeks.

Yet her seeing someone and breaking down and saying it had been him. That was something else. Especially since he had been in his uncle's company the whole time. Getting ready to move to another state to move on and not have the urge to see if she was okay.

He felt as though she was becoming something more to him and that was something that he couldn't allow to happen. Especially because if they truly found out who he was, he would suffer.

Feeling as though he had spent enough time here, he tried to move but then she tightened her hand on his sweater and he knew he wouldn't be able to move for a while.

Well, that was until he heard her whispering something Her hand began to glow and he felt the sizzlingly sound of a burn on his chest. She was slowly burning through his sweater.

"Wait, wake up… Aural"
