Caring for Mr. Mutant

[COMPLETED] How can a Mutant and a Mutant Caretaker fight for their love, if science is their greatest enemy? ------------------------ Year 2023: Random DNA mutations suddenly occurred around the world. These mutations caused newborn babies to acquire animal traits, and no one knows why or where they originated. Year 2033: When funds, advanced technology, and a capable workforce became available to study these mutants, a national team of scientists was formed, called the "DNA Mutation Cadre" or "D.M. Cadre". They were given modern, state-of-the-art laboratories complete with equipment and isolation rooms. Here, mutants were studied and monitored in exchange for a large sum of money and government assistance. Year 2048: In the busy city of Makylee, a 25-year-old part-timer, Lia Brentvale, got fired from her two part-time jobs in just one unlucky day. Since her parents aren’t around, she’s the breadwinner of her family, providing for her two college brothers. She applied as a Mutant Caretaker in the D.M. Cadre Research Facility and after passing their exam, she was assigned to the mysterious and aloof vulture mutant. But as she got to know him, she also learned more about D.M. Cadre. Together with her hacker friend and their batchmates, they tried to uncover the deep secrets that lie within the research facility. ------------------------ PREVIEW: Aesop had always felt that being a mutant is a curse. But upon meeting Lia, he started accepting himself. Lia was always pointing out his strong points. She was always encouraging him to enhance his skills and discover his talents. She always tells him not to think of himself as a test subject just like how the scientists treat him. She reassured him that even though he's a mutant, he's not less than a person, so he shouldn't look down on himself. It was her uplifting words and her mere existence that gave color to his monochrome life. "Lia… I love you," Aesop uttered as his golden eyes stared through her deep blue eyes. "Ae, I… I love you, too," Lia then wrapped her arms around Aesop's neck, drawing in close to him. Aesop's hands slid down to Lia's lower back, and he embraced her. Their heartbeats quicken as their lips graze against each other. Lia thought it would be just a simple kiss, just like they had always done after their very first kiss, but she was wrong. Aesop's right hand suddenly caressed her back, then he placed it at the back of her head, pulling her to him with a little force. The vulture mutant's majestic wings enveloped them, and it was as if he was owning her. Aesop's wet tongue slid into her mouth, and it surprised her. She tried to resist, but with his hand at the back of her head, she couldn't get away from him. Eventually, she gave in to that passionate kiss... NOTE: Not a superhero story, but tackled more of science ethics and social issues ------------------------ UPDATE: Added CFMM Special - The Afterstory chapters after the Finale. "Home Sweet Home"

The strong smell of cigarettes had diffused in the living room. His father had been using his favorite imported cigarette, which had a unique, burnt grass odor. For him, the usual cigarettes taste better than the mainstream e-cigarettes. He just came from the balcony where smoking is allowed.

Sanno hid his trembling hands at the sight of his father.

"My son, you look fine," his father's loud and cold voice echoed in the room. "I'm quite impressed by how you passed their test." His father gave a sinister look.

"Thanks, Dad…" Sanno said as he looked down when he heard his authoritative voice.

"You should report to me the details now." His father pointed at the other couch as he sat down on another. "Sit."

Sanno sat in front of his father, while their mother went to the kitchen to prepare tea. He slowly looked into his eyes as he said, "I've placed a hidden camera at the top of the artificial tree inside my mutant's room." He gulped as he spoke to him about his mission. "I've also placed one audio recorder inside the elevator and one in the hallway."

"I see. Then, using food was effective to hide all those recorders. Even if they scan the I.S. codes and did some x-ray scans on your bags, it's not enough. They had lax security," said Sanno's father. He ran his fingers on his blonde hair and continued. "It seemed like they didn't notice your anklet, too."

Sanno nodded. It felt like he wasn't talking to his dad, but his boss. "Yes, I hid the audio recorder that was attached to my anklet, under the table, inside the meeting room.."

"Then it's a good start." his father said, looking serious. "If you need more gadgets, ask me."

"You're making our son work too much for you," said Sanno's mom. "Dr. Dexter, here's yours."

"Thanks, Joy," Dr. Dexter Angeldame said as he carefully sipped his green tea. "Here, sit beside me."

Mrs. Joy Angeldame sat beside him on his left.

"Why are you still calling me doctor? I'm your husband for 25 years now." Dexter placed his left hand on his wife's shoulder. "You can be informal to me. You agreed to raise my son with me and took care of him as if he's your real son. If it wasn't for you, I couldn't proceed with my career and my plans."

Joy smiled a little. Ever since they had worked together in Makylee Hospital, she had always admired the doctor. She believed in his outlook in life, and she had planned to support him no matter what.

Dr. Dexter Angeldame, in his younger years, was considered to be a prodigy in the medical field. He was the youngest and most charming doctor in the city back then, and many women had been dreaming to be his wife. But he chose Joy because, for him, she was the coolest nurse of them all.

Sanno smiled at his parents as he saw them being sweet to each other. He had always admired their relationship. As their only son, he felt like he had an obligation to follow their wishes, all the time. Whatever wishes they were.

Sanno was strictly disciplined by his father Dexter when he was a child. He wasn't allowed to go out, and during those times that he sneaked out of their mansion, Dexter would always lock him up in the attic for a week to reflect. It was his mother Joy who had taught him how to read and write. During those times, she had to quit her work as a nurse in Makylee Hospital to focus on raising Sanno, since her husband had been busy as a prestigious doctor.

When Sanno was ready for college, it was only then that he was allowed to roam around the city. During those times too, Dexter had allowed Joy to apply and become a head nurse in Eulim General Hospital and move to Eulim City. Because of this, Sanno moved out of the mansion. Dexter had agreed to let Sanno do anything he wanted, and gave him a condo unit in Makylee City, but there was a condition for his freedom.

Sanno became a spy. It was for his dad's ambition to secretly investigate the D.M. Cadre Research Facility. He wondered what tests or experiments were happening inside. But even though he is a prestigious doctor, he was not permitted to visit the laboratories. Fortunately, he had a lot of connections and they have some people who supply them with advanced equipment and machines that they would be needing.

After drinking tea with his family and some chat, Sanno entered his bedroom.

His room had a large computer table, with 6 monitors mounted on the wall, which displays the live videos from his hidden cameras situated in different areas. He also had three, very fast computers that were connected to all audio recorders that he planted inside the facility. He also uses these to make a lot of programs or to hack at different institutions.

That's his real identity. He was a graduate of Computer Science, and through the help of his father's connections, he has been taught by various master hackers about advanced cybersecurity and advanced programming.

Sanno sat in a cozy, gaming chair and stared at his monitors. He leaned backward, inclining his chair. It was a long and tiring day, and he suddenly felt sleepy.

"Home sweet home," Sanno whispered to himself, before closing his eyes to sleep.
