"Oh, is that all?"

Shaya stepped back two paces with a look of discontent, then lightly tiptoed to sit on the edge of the wooden tub.

She raised her legs, causing the red dress to be squeezed between them. The red gauze skirt wrapped around her rounded thighs, resembling glistening jade pillars.

"What are you looking at?"

Noticing Gu Xi's gaze, Shaya merely tugged at her dress without any intention of jumping down.

"Not looking at anything. Just tell me if you can handle this."

"Such a simple task, of course, I can handle it. Tell me, who are you looking for? Our Fate Compass has been in Victoria for hundreds of years, with connections everywhere. If you give us a name and some information, even if they've turned to bones, we can dig them up for you."

"It's not that complicated. I just want you to help me find a broker to handle some real estate matters."

"A broker? Real estate matters? That's simple. But which area are you looking to deal with? No need for a detailed address, just the general area, and I'll arrange for someone."

Shaya seemed increasingly disinterested and somehow produced a silver knife, beginning to trim her nails.

"Camden District. I have a three-hundred-square-meter land purchase permit. I don't need much, but I want to secure a piece of land in Camden."

"What did you say?" Shaya jumped off the tub edge upon hearing this.

"Camden District. What's wrong, is it inconvenient there?"

Gu Xi looked at Shaya with some confusion, not understanding why she seemed so tense.

"It's not that. Do you have a land purchase permit?"

Shaya's concern wasn't about the area but the purchase permit in Gu Xi's possession.

"Yes, why? Are you planning to rob me?"

Gu Xi's eyes narrowed, his gaze on Shaya changed.

Shaya felt a chill all over, as if a dagger was pressed against her neck.

"No, our Fate Compass is a guild of order, we don't have such practices. Don't be so nervous."

Gu Xi remained silent, not retracting his intimidating stance, simply watching Shaya's performance.

"I really didn't mean that. It's just that I'm familiar with this kind of work. No, I mean, I can handle this job too."

Gu Xi glanced at Shaya again and took a step back. Only then did Shaya feel the oppressive aura dissipate.

Finally, Shaya breathed a sigh of relief, her previous attitude of underestimating Gu Xi gone.

Not knowing Gu Xi's profession, she decided not to provoke him further.

"Why are you interested in the land purchase permit?"

Gu Xi didn't say whether he agreed to Shaya's involvement but instead asked another question.

He felt something was off about Shaya's attitude.

"It's nothing, really. Just that a few days ago, our mentor took on a job exchanging a land purchase permit for a large apartment building. I was curious why those people would seek our mentor for such a deal, but the mentor didn't elaborate.

I didn't ask further. Now that you have a similar permit, I was a bit reactive."

Gu Xi stared at Shaya without indicating whether he believed her.

Shaya was starting to feel uneasy under Gu Xi's gaze and was about to say something when Gu Xi picked up a piece of bread, dipped it into the soup, and slowly began to eat.

Shaya muttered with her head down.

The waiter didn't know what to say, so he shooed Shaya out before turning to Gu Xi.

"I hear you have a land purchase permit for Camden? What do you want in exchange?"

"Land in Camden District. If that's not possible, an already built house will do, but it needs to be a standalone property."

Gu Xi intended to leave a personal anchor point in this game world, a place he could return to frequently, so a standalone house was essential.

Otherwise, he wouldn't know where he might end up next time he came in.

The waiter considered Gu Xi's requirements, thinking it over.

"Your request is difficult to fulfill.

Let me be direct. The current situation in Camden is peculiar. A major client is working on acquiring properties in Camden through purchase permits and other means for three upcoming demolitions.

Property prices there have risen significantly.

Even street-level land has been sold extensively. It's nearly impossible to secure a standalone house now."

The waiter pushed her back out the door.

"No problem. I just want to know if you can secure a 300-square-meter plot in Camden. I don't need a house, just the land."

Gu Xi clarified his requirement.
