Gran Torino? More Like Yoda 2.0

"Now that everyone's decided on hero names," Aizawa said while putting his yellow sleeping bag away. "We'll go back to talking about internships. They'll last for a week. As for where you'll have them, those who had offers from pros will be given your own list, so you can choose from those yourself. Those who didn't have offers will choose from among forty agencies around the country that will be accepting our interns. They all work in different places and have different specialties."

"For example," Midnight continued the explanation. "Thirteen would be focused on rescues from accidents and disasters more then fighting villains."

"Think carefully before you choose."

"Yea sir!"

"Choose wisely and make sure you turn in your choices before the weekend." Aizawa said before closing the door. "Dismissed."

Everyone started talking about where they wanted to go and what they wanted to do. I was definitely heading for All Might's teacher. He calls himself Gran Torino and he taught at UA for a year as All Might's homeroom teacher. Besides, I already know everything about One For All, so why not go there. I'll just force my way there if anything. And Kisu would either go to an agency in Hosu or go to the exact same one as Tenya.

During lunch, everyone was trying to decide where they should go. They were thinking way too hard about this.

"Hey, did you guys decide what pro agency you're going to get?" Mina said while laying her head on her desk as she read through the agencies on her paper.

"I'm going to Mt. Lady's!" Denki pointed at himself while he wore a mischievous smile on his face.

"You're not thinking about something perverted, are you, Denki?" Kisu asked while wrapping her arms around her chest and sitting down on her desk.

"Of course not!"

"You got pretty far, Mina." Mashirao said while holding his tail on his shoulder. "It's weird that you didn't get any offers."

"What about you, Dek-" Ochaco was cut off by Izuku's muttering.

"There are only forty agencies who'll take us, so after looking up their specialties and splitting them into groups…it's practically an art!"

"Earth to Izuku-kun!" Toga waved a hand in front of Izuku's face.

"Ah, s- sorry! I was lost in thought!"

"You're really thinking hard about this, huh, Izuku-kun?" Tsuyu walked over with the same expression she always wears.

"Actually, I already decided!" Ochaco announced.

"Oh, where to?" Mashirao asked.

"Battle Hero: Gunhead's agency!"

"You're going there?" I asked. "He's a huge battle type. That'll probably do you some good."

"Mm hmm, after I fought with Kats, it made me hunk that the stronger I am, the more possibilities I'll have! If I only do what I want, I'll have a narrower perspective. Also, it's been bothering me. You're trembling."

"Oh, this? It's an air chair exercise."

"Air chair?!" Everyone echoed with a shocked expression.

"You mean," Ochaco leaned over. "You've been doing that throughout class?!"

"That's such an old fashioned way to to exercise." Denki stated.

"What are you saying?" Mashirao demanded. "The isometric muscle contraption of the chair means it's an easy way to train without moving!"

I rolled my eyes at the petty argument. Do people really waste their time with this? Whatever, it's not like it's my problem. I have other things to worry about.

"Hey, hey, Tenya-san." Kisu walked over and sat on the desk in front of Tenya. "What agency did you choose? Is it, say, one in Hosu?"

Tenya lifted his head to look at Kisu when she said that. Finally, the guy moved. He raised a hand and started chipping the air like a frigging maniac.

"Do not sit on the desks! They are not chair, but workspaces for disciplined UA students to work!"

What a wack job. While Tenya was scolding Kisu, she took a look at the signed paper and saw that Tenya chose Manual's agency out in, bet you can't guess, Hosu. What a predictable move from Tenya. Like I said, Kisu would be keeping an eye on Tenya for reasons.

"Deku-kun, let's walk home together!" Ochaco said as she put her backpack on.

"Hai(yes)!" Izuku answered.

"Tenya-kun, wanna come with- oh, he's not here."

"He probably decided already and went home."

They opened the door to walk out before All Might came sliding onto the scene. Who the hell appears out of nowhere with their upper body parallel to the ground?

"I am here! In a bizarre pose!" He yelled with a deep voice. "Can I borrow you, young Izuku?"

Izuku nodded rapidly, still shocked from the the sudden appearance of All Might. I took my back and slung it over my shoulder, then walked over to Izuku and placed a hand on his shoulder, giving a bit of a fright.

"Mind if I join you?" I asked with a bright smile.

To All Might and Izuku, it didn't come off as a nice and kind smile. It came off as a threat. They nodded before I waved at Shoto, Denki, Toga and Kisu.

"Now, getting straight to the point," All Might said. "You got an offer from a hero!"

"Huh, nani(what)? Hontoni(really)?" Izuku wanted to confirm what he heard.

"Yes, the hero's name is-"

"Gran Torino?" I asked as I put my hands on the back of my head, cradling my head as I leaned back. "Didn't he teach here at UA? For a year. He was your homeroom teacher, wasn't he?"

"Uh- well, yes. How did you- never mind. I won't ask. But he also knows about One For All. In fact, he probably offered an intern to you because of that."

"Someone that amazing is…?!" Izuku said to himself with pink cheeks. "Wait, there was someone else who knew about the Quirk?"

"Gran Torino was the sworn friend of my predecessor. He retired a long time ago so I forgot to count him. Was it because I wrote of you when I sent him that letter?" All Might started to tremble, his knees shaking. "Or because he couldn't just stand by and watch my inadequate teaching? If he went so far as to use his old name to make an offer. It's scary, so scary. Good lord, stop shaking legs!"

What a baby. He was scared of this guy? I mean, I know he had been through training with Gran Torino but what a wimp.

"A- Anyway, it is my duty to train you, but since you got an offer, you should go work to your hearts c- content…"

"Stop being a baby." I rolled my eyes. "Gran Torino isn't scary unless you get in his bad side. He's powerful, that's all. I think he's pretty interesting when watching him in action."

"You say that so casually," Izuku said while watching All Might shake and tremble. "But I don't know if that's what All Might is thinking."

"Well, whatever. By the way, I made sure he sent me an offer."

"Young Yuno, how on earth did you reach out to Gran Torino?" All Might turned his head and gave me a confused smile.

"I hacked into the system." I bluntly answered.

"NANIIII(what)?!" Izuku backed away from me.

"No, I didn't hack into the system, idiots. I have relatives that know Gran Torino. I just asked if he could give and offer."

My parents have friends that know Gran Torino. The only reason why my parents have friend is because everyone has only seen one side of them. It's not like I called my parents and asked them, "hey, I have a favor to ask. Give me your friends number." That's just stupid, besides, I fucking hate them with every fiber of my being. It's just easier to the contact info myself.

"You all have your costumes, right?" Aizawa asked as we all checked our belongings before we left to ur internships. "Remember, you aren't allowed to wear them out in public. Don't drop or anything. Make sure you mind your manners with the heroes at your internships. Off with you, now."

"Yes, sir!" Everyone confirmed before heading off to their stations.

Before they parted ways for the week, Izuku and Ochaco confronted Tenya and gave him a bit of confirmation about their friendship. All he did in response was nod and h was in his way again. He really must have been taking his brother's retirement hard. The fact that he was attacked by Stain must prove that the Hero Killer is on the move with these heroes.

"Yuno-kun?" Izuku asked during the trip on the train. "Is Kisu-chan going to Hosu as well? I saw her walking with Tenya-kun."

"She's also going to Hosu." I answered while pulling one of my earbuds out by the wire. "It's none of your business anyway. You should pay more attention to your own internship."

"Uh, right!"

This kid really doesn't know what personal boundaries are, does he? He sticks his nose into everyone's business and doesn't, and I mean, does not, back off. And he assumes, don't forget that he assumes things.

When Izuku opened the door to Gran Torino's home, he started with this respectful greeting and made sure it was known that we were here. When he looked inside, he saw a sight that would never be erased from his mind.

"Hello, we're students from UA. We're here for the internshi-" His face turned from caution to sheer horror. "AHHH! KARE WA SHINIMASHITA(he's dead)?!?!"

"I'm alive." Gran Torino said from the pile of red sauce, a smile of innocence plastered to his face.

"…KARE WA IKITE IMASU(he is alive)!!" Izuku was practically scaring himself at this point.

"Are you high or something?" I deadpanned as Izuku sighed in relief. "Are you taking something? Who would believe he's dead in this situation?"

I watched as Gran Torino wiped the sauce off of his hero suit. According to the old grandpa, he was carrying a plate of string sausage with ketchup poured over it, and then he fell down. Izuku stared at the old man as he asked who we were. There was a look on his face that said, "I knew he was old, but this state is unbelievable."

"Who are you?" Gran Torino asked.

"I'm Izuku Midoryia and this is-"

"Huh? What's that?"

"Izuku Midoryia!"

"…who are you, again?"

Izuku sighed and pulled his phone out. He was going to call All Might about the sorry state he thought Gran Torino was in.

"Ah! Nanishiteruno(what are you doing)?!" Izuku questioned as the old man dug through the briefcases that held our hero suits.

"Throw a punch at me. With One For All." He responded with a serious tone, different compared to the previous one he had. "I wanna see how well you can handle it. This is a good costume. Put it in and fire!"

"Um, sir…?" Izuku murmured.

"Who are you?"

"It's no good!" Izuku stiffened with a shock expression. His reaction was just so laughable. It made me think that he was just a bigger idiot then I thought he was. "Please, listen. I have to hurry, and learn how to handle this power. Because All Might doesn't have any time left. That's why I can't waste time to mess around with you."

Izuku bowed and started walking toward the door. Buddy didn't know what he just got himself into. Gran Torino stood up and took a deep breath, catching the attention of the ignorant Izuku as he stopped in his tracks. Gran Torino jumped up to the ceiling and started bouncing off the walls with a smile that reminded me of All Might's cocky smile.

"If that's the case, then that's even more reason to fire!" He glared at Izuku with a smile. "You zygote! I watched the Sports Festival on TV. The way you used your power was unthinkable, throwing off attacks recklessly. He's called the Symbol Of Peace and the number one hero, but that justice-obsessed All Might is worse than a novice when it comes to teaching."

"He uses the same phrases as All Might." I said as I put on my new hero costume. This new one didn't have blazer, it was replaced with a black tie that lengthened down to my belly button. It was just a white button up shirt with ripped jeans, red high tops and the same book pack and knife.

"Huh, they made changes without asking…" Izuku said as he put his suit on. "I wonder if everyone in the support business is like Hatsume-kun."

I stared at Izuku in offense. He just insulted me and the entire world's support companies. Who does he think he is? Puh, if only he knew how difficult it can be to make new inventions like that.

"Anyway, is this really okay?" Izuku asked as Gran Torino gave a kind smile. "Honestly, I don't know how well I can use this suit. And if there isn't more space, if I fire at 100% by accident, your body wouldn't be able to- ACK! Yuno-kun!"

"Shut up." I said after smacking Izuku across the head with my book. "Just get on with it and punch somebody. You forget that I'm here too, so you won't get to procrastinate because I won't let you. Dumb first years. They always think it's going to be fun and games, cupcakes and rainbows, well, it's not. Welcome to life. Now get to it before I punch you."

"Ah, sorry! What about you?"

"Me? Gran Torino will be attacking at me as well. And to make it fair, I won't use Blood Control to make him stop. I'll just use my head and my combat skills."

"Oh, uh-"

"Isoide(hurry up)."

"Good grief, you're such a chatterbox!" Gran Torino said while raising his arms before jumping off, bouncing against the walls like they're trampolines. "I'm losing patience! I can't believe the ninth holder of One For All is such a wet blanket…All Might is such a novice!"

Izuku couldn't keep up with Gran Torino's movements. He couldn't keep his eyes in him. Ignoring the difficulty Izuku was having, I started reading the book as I only dodged when needed. All Izuku needs to do is analyze, predict and go. Gran Torino already slipped behind him two times. If he could stop Gran Torino's movement or disrupt the pattern, then he'd be all set. But no, he was still a little too stiff.

"There's a discord in your mind, kid! Loosen up!" Gran Torino said while dodging Izuku's grab. "And that's how you ended up like this." Gran Torino had a Izuku pinned down. Sucks, even though Izuku seemed like he was trying so hard.

"I thought I had you for sure." Izuku said through Gran Torino's hand, making his speech muffled.

"That's it. The way you used your Quirk during the cavalry battle and the tournament, you should already understand it. But your admiration for All Might and your sense of duty is like shackles. And you."

"What?" I asked while tilting my head and lowering my book. "Look, I'm in the middle of reading. If you're going to come at me, hurry up."

"Hohoho, calm down, youngster! I'm not going to do what you order me to." Says him. He started jumping off walls after I he said he wouldn't do what I asked him. Weird old grandpa.

"Fine. You want a lesson, Izuku? I'll give you one." I said as I dug my nose back into my book, dodging Gran Torino's attacks in noy when I needed to. "Prediction isn't easy, but once you've analyzed the situation and pattern it gets easier. If you look around, you'll see that their aren't many places to hide, so the goal would be to interrupt the pattern of Gran Torino's movement. Everyone has a pattern of some sort, whether it's repetitive or scattered. Only moving when needed makes things a lot easier then you'd think. It'll help conserve energy when you take him down." I saw Gran Torino come rushing toward me from the side. I closed my book as he came down and dodged his grab. I smacked my on the back with my book, causing him to drop and completely stop his pattern of jumping from wall to wall. "Like that."

"You did that so easily!" Izuku threw his arms out toward Gran Torino, who was standing up and grabbing his cane. "How did you-"

"Brain." I said while tapping my temple with my book. "Analysis and prediction. Practice. All of the above. Everyone can learn it if they stick to it."

—————

"The first day, he ended up testing me." Izuku let out a sigh. "There was no hero work. And after buying food, he went straight to sleep. Actually, when I searched his name, I didn't get any hits."

"Chin up. You're thinking way too hard about all this." I said as I opened the front door while reading my book. "Would you rather stay here and watch him sleep?"

"Huh? Where are you going?"

"Just get your ass outside before I drag it out."

"Ah, Gomen(sorry)!"

Izuku followed after me and exited the house. It was dark outside, everyone was asleep. The streetlights were pretty dim. What's the use of them if they don't light up the way? Either way, I grabbed Izuku's collar and threw him into an alleyway.

"You're overthinking your Quirk." I said as I leaned against a wall, my nose still stuck in my book. "You're thinking One For All is more special then it really is, like an ultimate move. What Kats and the others can do as naturally as breathing, you still feel the need to 'use' it in a conscious way."

"Oh, so if I could master 5% at pace that's as natural as breathing, then I- wait, why'd you call him Kats?"

"That's not the point, you idiot!" I scolded and smacked Izuku with my book. "Remember what I said during the cavalry battle at the Sports Festival? 'Try spreading the power throughout your body.' You've gotten down the part where the Quirk doesn't destroy your limbs. Replace the egg with, let's say, a pastry, like taiyaki. Say you're the taiyaki and you're inside a microwave. The heat defrosts and cooks the taiyaki while the pasty itself absorbs and stored the heat. Think about it like that."

"Taiyaki?…" Izuku tilted his head and thoughts about it. "Oh, like flipping a switch! I've only insisted on 'using' One For All. Using it when I need it, in the places that need it."

"Now you're getting it. Now, using that in mind, go ahead and give it a go."

Izuku stared at me like I was an idiot, deadpanning at me. What? Did any of that make sense? You were just going on about "using" One For All the right way!

"Yatta miro yo, baka(give it a go, you idiot)!" I lost it and threw my book at Izuku.

"Ow! Okay, okay! I'll try!" He rubbed his head in pain.

"Don't just 'try!' Do it!"

Izuku nodded nervously and clenched his fists. His body stiffened as green lightning surrounded him. That's it, now he was getting the hang of this. I pointed up at the wall and smiled. "If possible, try jumping from wall to wall."

Izuku nodded and squatted down, preparing to thrust his legs and jump up to the wall. He pushed off the ground toward the wall and smiled…only to face plant into the wall and fall down into a pile of garbage.

"We've got a lot of work to do…"
