Erik could do nothing but grin.
At that instant, everything clicked into place for Logan. However, he found it hard to digest that Erik had taken things so far as to kill Conal and Orson and try to do the same with him.
"Why are you doing this, Erik?!"
"What do you mean, why? You know exactly why!" Erik said. "How can you have the sheer audacity to ask that question? TO ME!"
There was only intense hatred for Logan in Erik's eyes. The moment he killed him was going to mark his liberation from misery; his daily embarrassments would cease at last.
Nothing could be sweeter than defeating those who had tormented him for years.
Logan understood there was no talking his way out of this. He knew he had to fight to survive. But he was also exhausted from fighting the Lomalins and running along the barrier.
His energy was running low, and Erik's surprising speed made it clear who had the physical advantage.
