[CHAPTER TEN]

Previously on Avenging Angels

Rose tries to find out about how the same rose is in the castle but to no prevail. When she is about to give up. She finds something else. What could it mean?

TEN

I felt a grip on my shoulder and I let out a gasp out of shock.

"Sorry, I didn't mean to startle you" Chloe apologized.

"I-it's fine. I was just searching for something" I pressed the home icon on my laptop and used my duvet to cover the papers.

"But it's late. Miss Helda won't like it if you are grumpy because of lack of sleep" she yawned.

"OK. I am already done anyway" I said and she went to her bed.

I took a look, once more at the badge and a cold shiver rushed down my sweating body.

"Rose" she whined and I quickly closed the laptop.

"Yeah, yeah. I am going to bed" I used the duvet to cover my body and went over what I just discovered.

What is the meaning of all these?

I didn't realize how exhausted I was. As soon as my head hit the pillow, I drifted to a deep and tranquil slumber, far away from my harsh reality.

We were all running around the kitchen, preparing ingredients for tonight's dinner.

"Rose, get the carrots"

"Violet, how many times will I tell you to slice the onions not dice it?"

"Georgia, will you stop drooling over yourself in the mirror and get to work?"

Miss Helda orders rang across the kitchen as she watched our every move.

Well, tonight's dinner was a bit grand because the Bladderworts have successfully launched a new project and it's soaring in sales so they were having a celebration tonight and both Janet and Bianca will here tonight.

Just what I needed.

"Chole, how long will it take for you to cut the tomatoes?" Miss Helda yelled at Chloe who was on the floor with a box of tomatoes next to her.

"You really need to tone down the yelling. High blood pressure is not what you want at this age" I mumbled and she turned her sharp gaze at me.

"Pardon?" She gritted.

"I mean you do look young for your age but if you keep screaming like that, you are going to get high BP" I smirked at her flushed face.

"My BP is none of your business, Rosaline. Get to..."

"Work" I finished it off for her and the girls laughed.

"You are the only one I have seen that always manage to get under Miss Helda's skin" Helen whispered next to me to prevent another scolding session from that old hag.

"Really?" I raised my eyebrows in question.

"Yeah, her face is always flushed each time you talk back at her" Helen laughed.

"Helen" we heard a warning tone from behind.

"Sorry, ma'am" she quickly went back to work and I looked at the old hag to see her already glaring at me.

"Get the glasses. They will be here in any minute" Miss Helda ordered as we ran all over the castle to get the final touches before they stepped into the house.

We heard a car in the driveway and we all quickly went to stand at the entrance.

I straightened my grey and white uniform. Because of today's celebration, we had to change our normal black and white uniform to a grey and white one.

The door opened and the Bladderworts stepped in one after the other except Grayson and Regina as they came back from school a while ago.

I quickly took Iris's coat and I raised an eyebrow then she nodded in approval that everything has been done.

We entered the dining room and the whole family, including Bianca sat down as we served them.

"To the Bladderworts" Brad raised his glass of champagne and they all followed him, raising their glasses.

I rolled my eyes at their stupid family moment.

"Um, excuse me. I need to go to the restroom" Janet stood up and left the room.

Bianca raised her glass and I perked up.

Finally.

I moved to pour wine in her glass and with great skills, I used the bottle to tip the glass, making the red wine pour over Bianca's crystal white dress.

"Oh my God!!!!" She shrieked and stood up.

"I-i am s-so sorry, Ma'am" I stepped forward to clean her dress but she pushed me with anger.

"Stay away from me, you bitch" she raised her hand and swung it, creating a loud impact on my side cheek.

Everyone stood up, shocked at the scene in front of them.

Everybody's attention was on us.

{Iris's POV}

I left the dining room and walked down the hall to the last room at the hall.

I looked up at the camera. Lily changed the footage earlier so it showed an empty hall.

I used my hand to twist the knob, it clicked and I let out a breath of relief. I could use my pin to open it but it would take too long as I am not the master of that trick as Rose is.

I entered the dark office and quickly shut the door behind me.

The red light from the camera blinked at me and I stood, watching it.

I moved to the corner, took off my heels, and climbed the cabinet to reach for the camera.

I did exactly what Lily taught me for like a hundred times back at home.

I twisted some wires and attached the device she gave me to the camera before placing it back exactly where I saw it.

I wore my heels and looked for a perfect place to place the wireless device Rose asked me to put.

I was about to attach it beneath the desk when I heard the door opening and I quickly duck under the desk when I saw a figure stepping inside the room.

This was the kind of situation Rose will say.

I am in deep shit.

{Rose's POV; inside the dining room}

"B, calm down. It's was just a slip of hand" Grayson held his girlfriend's shoulder to calm her down.

"A slip of hand cost me a fifteen thousand dollars dress. Something that she would never get even if she worked as a maid for a hundred years" she screamed and glared at me.

I quivered my lips and a tear fell from my eye.

"I am sorry" I let out a shaky voice, I used my peripheral vision to see Christian staring at me while clenching his jaw.

"You should be. Obviously, you can't pay for this dress so kneel and beg" she said and I raised my eyebrows at her.

This wasn't part of the plan.

"Kneel and beg for forgiveness" she smirked, obviously inwardly laughing at my face.

Bitch.

I go down on my knees and put my head down in shame.

"I am sorry. P-please, forgive me" I begged and made a mental note to kill this girl later.

"Bianca. That's enough, it's just a dress. I will pay for it. You don't have to do this" William said from across the table.

"Yes, Bianca. That's enough drama for the night" Christian glared at her.

She was about to protest but when Grayson shot her a glare, she gritted "fine" and William got up to help me stand up.

"I am sorry for all that commotion" Grayson apologized on behalf of his girlfriend.

"It's OK. Honey" Avalor smiled at her son. She even looked amused at the situation.

"Next time, I believe you can control your girlfriend, Gray," Brad said from the head of the table.

"Yes, father. I am sorry. It won't happen again" Grayson promised and started to eat.

"Are you okay?" William asked and I nodded in response.

Iris is taking too long. What's going on?

"I am sorry for this" he apologized.

"It's okay" I assured and he went back to his seat.

"Where's Janet?" Avalor asked and I held my breath, anticipating what will happen next.

{Iris's POV}

The figure came inside the room and I used my hand to clasp my mouth.

I watched the shadow, it was about to move to the desk but changed its mind and left the room.

I caught a glimpse of a maid outfit before she could step out of the room but I couldn't figure out which one of them.

I quickly put the device beneath the desk and stepped out of the room after making sure it was secure and out of the eye.

I entered the dining room just as I heard Avalor asking about me.

{Rose's POV}

"I am here" I heard her voice and I let out a breath I never knew I was holding.

She looked at me and blinked twice, indicating everything went well.

The rest of the dinner went on in peace and we maids went to have our dinner in the kitchen.

After we were done, Chloe, Helen, and I washed the dishes and they tried to make me feel better after what happened in the dining room as I pulled a sad face.

"You weren't supposed to slap me so hard" I whispered at Lily and she cackled.

"I was just cut up at the moment and you did ruin my favorite dress," she said and I rolled my eyes.

"You knew I was going to pour wine on you, why did you wear it?" I asked as I walked down the empty hall.

"Shut up" she snickered.

"Guys, someone went in the office while I was there" Iris suddenly said.

"Who was that? I thought everyone was in the dining room" Lily asked.

"I caught a glimpse of a maid uniform," she said.

"OK. I am sure it was nothing" I assured and we said our goodbyes.

"Are you okay?" I jumped at the voice that came out of nowhere.

Christian came forward and caressed my cheek, the spot she hit me.

"It sounded pretty hard" he stared at me with an unexplainable look on his face.

"Nothing I can't handle" I pushed his hand away from me but he took my hand into his.

"You didn't seem scared or anything. Why? It was like you expected it" he asked me, caressing my hand in a soothing motion.

"I have handled a lot worse than what happened earlier. So it's not a big deal" I walked down the hall and he followed me, our hands clasped together but I made no move to retract mine.

"I would love to know all that you've been through" he mumbled.

"Why?" I stopped and he came in front of me.

"I don't know why, Angel but I would love to know every single thing about you" he murmured, planting a kiss on my temple before climbing the stairs, leaving me wanting to feel his warmth over and over.
