"Stop!" Lu Sheng's voice cut through, snapping Lu Xan and the guards out of their rage-filled trance. They froze mid-action, blinking as if waking from a dream. Lu Sheng stepped forward, surveying the damage. Lu Cai, barely conscious, gasped for air, his eyes burning with fury and humiliation.
"Raise him up," Lu Sheng ordered calmly. The guards hesitated, unsure of what had just come over them, but they obeyed without question, hauling Lu Cai to his feet.
"YOU…you…will 'puay'!" Lu Cai slurred through his swollen lips, blood spilling from his mouth as he struggled to form words.
Lu Sheng's eyes narrowed in amusement. "Yeah, yeah, I know. But you've already paid for that foul mouth." He stepped closer, gripping Lu Cai's jaw tightly. His white glove became stained with blood, but he didn't care. He squeezed, watching as Lu Cai's face twisted in agony, trying to hold back a scream.
