For the Vermilionth Time!

The episode starts with a young Pokémon trainer standing outside of a building in a city. He had: black hair and yellow eyes, wearing a blue shirt with red shorts, wearing a blue and red cap.

The young Pokémon trainer looks over at his Pokémon. "Are you ready for this, Wartortle?"

Wartortle looks back at its trainer and nods. "Wartortle!"

"Let's go!" The Pokémon trainer commanded.

It cuts to the Pokémon trainer walking toward the battlefield, with confidence on his face. On the other side was Lt. Surge, the Vermilion City Gym Leader, revealing the location and building.

Lt. Surge immediately starts laughing. "Look who's back for the third time, huh Zayne? Haven't you had enough?"

"No!" Zayne responded with a frustrated tone. "I will beat you one day, Surge! The third time's the charm!"

Lt. Surge shrugs. "Oh well, if you say so. Electabuzz, crush this dweeb!" He sends out Electabuzz into battle.

Electabuzz materializes on the battlefield. "ELEBUBUBU!"

Zayne turns to his Wartortle. "Okay, Wartortle, I choose you!"

Wartortle jumps into the battlefield against Electabuzz. "Wartortle!"

"Alright Wartortle, use Hydro Pump!"

Wartortle opens its mouth and sprays out a huge flow of water at Electabuzz.

Lt. Surge shakes his head in disappointment. "You really haven't learned, kid. Electabuzz, counter it with a Thunderbolt!"

"ELEBUBUBU!" Electabuzz sends powerful electricity from its horns and hits the water from the Hydro Pump, conducting through the move and hitting Wartortle hard.

"WARTORTLE!" Wartortle cries out in pain before hitting the ground and fainting.

"OH NO, WARTORTLE!" Zayne called out.

It slowly fades to white as the title screen shows.

"For the Vermilionth Time!"

It cuts to Jessie and friends walking on a route. Jessie turns to James, who is looking at the map.

"So what route are we on, James?" Jessie asked.

"We're on Route 6," James answered. "I believe this is the quickest route to get to Cinnabar Island."

"Cinnabar Island?" Jessie questioned. "Is that the nearest city with a Pokémon Gym from here?"

James nods. "Correct, but it's kinda far from here. It's gonna take us quite a while."

Meowth groans in annoyance from hearing that. "Can't we use Domino's Clefairy to use Metronome to Teleport us there or something?"

Domino rolls her eyes. "Well first off, Meowth. That's not how Metronome works, it's basically a dice roll. Second, even if by some miracle that my Clefairy uses the right move, it doesn't know where Cinnabar Island is at all. So it's useless."

Jessie digs through her purse, pulls out the Ultra Ball that the President of Silph Co. gave her, and starts looking at it. "A higher catch rate huh?"

"So, what type of Pokémon are you planning on capturing with that Ultra Ball?" Domino asked, curiously.

Jessie shrugs. "I don't know… it's just I only got one and I have to use it carefully."

"Well you can buy Ultra Balls at the Poké Mart, but they're way expensive," James says.

"I would've figured," Jessie says.

However, that gang hears crying nearby as they stop dead in their tracks and look around.

"Is that the sound of crying?" Domino stated.

"Wow James, even the world is bummed that Ultra Balls are expensive." Meowth chuckles at his joke.

James glares at the talking Pokémon. "There is no time for jokes, Meowth."

Meowth rolls his eyes and remains quiet.

"Let's find out where it's coming from," Jessie suggested.

Jessie and her friends try to find where the crying is coming from, so they follow the sound and once they do, they see Zayne right there, on the ground, crying his eyes out.

"Hey kid, are you alright?" Jessie asked, walking towards the young Pokémon trainer.

Zayne looks at Jessie and sniffles. He wipes his tears away. "No, I'm not okay at all!"

Domino frowns from looking at the Pokémon trainer "What's wrong?"

Zayne sighs. "I can't beat the Vermilion City Gym Leader."

"Lieutenant Surge?" The gang all said together.

"R-right, I want to join the Pokémon League, but I challenged Surge three times, trying to find a miracle to beat him, but I failed!" Zayne frowns. "Maybe I should just quit and head back to my hometown. I'll never be a great trainer." He gets up and starts slowly walking away in shame.

The gang all look at each other, seeing Zayne walking away.

"We should help him," Domino suggested.

James nods. "Right."

"What?!" Meowth says in disbelief. "Why waste our time on some dumb kid who isn't good because they can't be Surge!"

Jessie turns to her Meowth, glaring at him. "Because it's the right thing to do to help others achieve their dream. I had trouble with Lt. Surge too and I want to help this kid." Jessie then turns her attention to Zayne. "Hey kid, I'll help you beat Lt. Surge!"

Zayne turns around in delight, as his sadness turns to happiness. "You will?!" He walks back to the gang. "Wait, how do you know about beating Lt. Surge?"

"Because I've beaten him before." Jessie reaches down to her purse to pull out her Badge case. She opens it and pulls out the Thunder Badge from it and shows it to Zayne. "See?"

Zayne looks at the Thunder Badge in amazement. "Whoa… the Thunder Badge! Please teach me how to earn one too!"

Jessie agrees to help Zayne. "I'll gladly do it! But I haven't gotten your name yet, if you do mind telling me of course."

After Jessie's words, Zayne realized they hadn't introduced themselves. "I'm so sorry. I'm Zayne, nice to meet you!"

Jessie's friends began to introduce themselves to Zayne. "I'm Domino, nice to meet you!" "And I'm James, I hope my shades are cool!"

"And I'm Jessie." Jessie looks at Meowth. "And this is my partner, Meowth!"

Meowth waves hello at Zayne, keeping quiet purposefully.

Zayne smiles. "Nice to meet all of you! I can't wait for you to help me, Jessie."

Jessie chuckles embarrassingly and rubs the back of her head. "It's no problem. Let's head to Vermilion City and then we can discuss it there."

Zayne nods as he and the gang start heading towards Vermilion City. It cuts to the Saffron City Detention Center, where the Team Rocket trio are in a jail cell. Cassidy has an angry expression on her face while sitting on her jail bed. Butch is sitting down on the floor, leaning on the wall with his eyes closed. Mondo flushes the toilet after using it.

"We have to escape," Cassidy demanded her partners-in-crime.

Butch opens one eye to look at Cassidy. "And how are we going to do this?"

"Hold on guys, we should wait for the boss to bail us out!" Mondo says with a confident look on his face.

"I am not waiting for the boss to bail us out. You know how embarrassing that is?" Cassidy responded, rhetorically.

"Gotta agree with Cass here, I would rather escape than get bailed out," Butch added.

"Okay then, what's the plan, Cassidy?" Mondo asked.

Cassidy pulls out three spoons that she got from the cafeteria and hands each one to Butch and Mondo. "We dig underground with spoons."

Butch looks at the spoon and then at Cassidy. "Cassidy… this is fucking stupid. It will take forever to do that and the cops will find out immediately."

"What do you expect?" Mondo shrugs. "Cassidy always has the dumbest plans."

"A plan is better than nothing!" Cassidy defended herself. "Would you rather just wait for outside time and try to escape there?"

"Hmm…" A lightbulb comes on for Butch signaling he has an idea. "I just got an idea." He whispered to her partners-in-crime.

"What's the idea?" Cassidy whispered back.

Team Rocket all huddled together to discuss the plan.

Butch starts explaining the plan. "Okay, so the amount of time I have been here, I know a guy who managed to snuggle in a shovel. We just need to buy it off of him and wait for nighttime. Once night hits, we sneak out to the yard and stealthily dig ourselves out of here."

"Wait, those cops took our Pokémon away. Should we get them back first, before digging?" Mondo asked.

"Oh right… yeah, we find out where they're keeping our Pokémon first and then we go to the yard to dig ourselves out of here." Butch says with a grin on his face.

"A plan is a plan, I'm up for it!" Cassidy agreed.

Mondo nods. "Yeah! Great plan, Butch! I'm in too."

"Tonight, we officially escaped once and for all!" Butch declared, raising his fist in the air, Cassidy and Mondo soon followed after.

It cuts back to the gang with Zayde now walking on the streets of Vermilion City.

"So what Pokémon did you use against Lt. Surge?" Jessie asked, curiously.

"Oh! I used my Wartortle against Lt. Surge." Zayne pulls out Wartortle's Poké Ball. "Come on out!" He sends out Wartortle.

Wartortle materializes. "Wartortle!"

The gang looked in amazement seeing a Wartortle, but Domino expresses it more from seeing a water Pokémon.

"What an absolute cutie!" She says.

Jessie pulls out her Pokédex for more information.

"Wartortle, the Turtle Pokémon. Water type and the evolved form of Squirtle. Often hides in water to stalk unwary prey. For swimming fast, it moves its ears to maintain balance."

"Wow! Where did you catch this Wartortle, Zayne?" Jessie questioned.

"I didn't catch it. I got Wartortle at Professor Oak's lab when it was just a Squirtle." Zayne revealed.

"Oh! So you're a beginner trainer?" Domini asked.

Zayne nods in agreement. "I started my training seven days ago. I thought the way I was pacing through the Badges with Pewter and Cerulean City, I thought the Vermilion Gym would be a breeze as well. I guess I was wrong."

"Wow, it took you seven days to reach Vermilion? It took Jessie fourteen days to reach the city." Domino chuckles at the statement.

Jessie rolls her eyes in response to Domino. "Only because James read the map wrong.

"Let's get back on topic here…" James says, wanting to move out of this conversation immediately.

"I just wonder why I'm struggling against Lt. Surge." Zayne sighs sadly.

"Well, there's your problem. An electric type Pokémon trainer like Surge has the advantage over a water type Pokémon like Wartortle." James pointed out.

"Oh…" Zayne looks at his Wartortle and frowns. "I-I see."

"Here! I'll let you borrow one of my Pokémon!" Jessie tosses her Poké Ball in the air.

The Poké Ball opens and Diglett materializes then sparkles. "Diglett dig!"

Zayne's jaw dropped in shock and delight from seeing a Shiny Pokémon. "Whoa, a Shiny!"

Jessie was delighted with Zayne borrowing her Diglett. "And ground types have the advantage over electric types! So I'll happily let you borrow my Diglett for a while."

Meowth looks at Jessie with an annoyed expression on his face, wanting to say something right now.

Zayne looks at Diglett and then at his Wartortle. "I-I appreciate the offer, but…"

"Hey!" Domino spoke up. "Just because Lt. Surge has the advantage over Wartortle, doesn't mean it's impossible!"

"Yeah, but Zayne would have a much better chance of beating Surge with Diglett." Jessie countered. "Zayne, what do you want to do?"

Zayne thinks for a little bit. "I-I guess I'll give your Diglett a try. Even though I want to have my Wartortle beat Surge, a Badge is a Badge after all."

"Wartortle…" Wartortle has an annoyed expression on its face, because of Zayne's decision.

"Sorry, buddy. I promise you that I will win with you in the next city!" Zayne recalls Wartortle back in its Poké Ball.

Jessie also recalls her Pokémon, Diglett, back into its Poké Ball then proceeds to hand the Poké Ball to Zayne to borrow. "Here you go! Diglett's moves are Slash, Sand Attack, Dig, and Rock Slide."

Zayne accepts Diglett's Poké Ball. "Thank you so much, Jessie!"

Domino gets annoyed by Zayne not using Wartortle and going with Jessie's idea. It cuts to the gang and Zayne arriving at the entrance of the Vermilion City Gym.

"Good luck, Zayne! Go show Lt. Surge who's the boss around here!" James says, giving him a thumbs up.

Jessie raises her fist. "You got this, buddy!"

"I still prefer you to use Wartortle, but yeah, good luck with the Gym Battle!" Domino added.

Zayne nervously looks away. "Th-thank you guys, I'll try my best." He enters the Gym Battle as the gang sees a window and decides to watch this Gym Battle occur.

Meanwhile, in the Gym, Zayne walks toward the battlefield and there he sees Lt. Surge on the other side.

Lt. Surge scoffs, seeing Zayne again. "Not surprising seeing you back here, victim! How fast you want this Gym Battle to be when I beat you again!"

Zayne looks nervous and starts stuttering. "I-I'm going to beat you this time!"

Lt. Surge grins and pulls out his Electabuzz's Poké Ball. "That's what you always say, victim! Go, Electabuzz!" Lt. Surge sends out Electabuzz onto the battlefield.

Electabuzz materializes. "ELEBUBUBU!"

Zayne looks at Diglett's Poké Ball and takes a big sigh. "Go, Poké Ball!" He sends Diglett onto the battlefield to face off against Electabuzz.

Diglett materializes and sparkles into the battlefield. "Diglett dig!"

Lt. Surge's eyes widened from seeing the Shiny Pokémon. "A Shiny huh? Still isn't going to be enough, victim! Electabuzz, Thunder!"

"ELEBUBUBU!" Electricity comes out of Electabuzz's horns and sends electricity right at Diglett.

"AH! NO!" Zayne looks away in fear until the moves stop, he slowly peeks and sees that Diglett is fine and hasn't taken any damage at all.

"Diglett dig!" Diglett cried out, cheerfully.

Zayne has a big smile on his face. "You're alright!"

Lt. Surge scratches his head in confusion. "What?"

Meanwhile, the gang watched from the window.

Jessie chuckles. "Haha, way to go Diglett!"

"Electric-type attacks do not affect a ground type like Diglett!" Domino says with a chuckle on her own.

"Let's hope Zayne doesn't choke here," Meowth says.

"Come on Zayne, you can do it!" James cheered out for the young Pokémon trainer.

Back in the Vermilion Gym where the Gym Battle is occurring.

Zayne commands the next move. "Alright Diglett, use Slash!"

"Diglett dig!" Diglett pops under the ground of the battlefield then pops back up near Electabuzz to slash the Pokémon and does so.

"ELEBUBUBU!" Electabuzz cries in pain as Electabuzz goes down.

Zayne pumps his fist up in the air. "Way to go, Diglett!"

Lt. Surge's eyes widened before having an angry expression. "Electabuzz, get up now!"

Electabuzz quickly gets up from hearing its trainer. "ELEBUBUBU!"

It cuts to where the gang is watching the battle through the window.

"Wow, Jessie's Diglett might actually do it!" Meowth admits, impressed.

Jessie looks confident in herself. "Of course, I do train my Diglett after all, just like the rest of my Pokémon!"

"Lieutenant Surge isn't down yet, so I wouldn't celebrate too early," Domino stated.

James nods in agreement with Domino's statement. "Let's see what else happens."

Lt. Surge commands his next move. "Looks like I can't use electric-type moves, so let's use a Quick Attack, Electabuzz!"

"ELEBUBUBU!" Electabuzz immediately dashed toward Diglett with extremely fast speed and battered the Pokémon by punching it.

Diglett took a lot of damage and cried out its name in pain. "Diglett!"

Zayne's fear now comes back after that major hit from Electabuzz. "Uhh… use Dig!"

"Diglett dig!" Diglett pops back under the ground and continues to stay under, leaving Electabuzz to look around for the Pokémon.

Lt. Surge immediately commands Electabuzz soon after. "Electabuzz, stay still and focus! You don't want this move to hit you!"

Electabuzz does what its trainer commands. It stays still and focuses on when Diglett will pop up to attack. A few seconds pass of Electabuzz standing still until Electabuzz catches a glimpse of the ground moving a little and immediately goes on the attack.

"Mega Kick!" Lt. Surge immediately commands as soon Electabuzz notices the ground moving.

As soon as Diglett pops out of the ground to use Dig on Electabuzz, the electric tiger jumps out of the way before kicking the Pokémon with full power, immediately knocking out and fainting Diglett from battling.

"DIGLETT, NO!" Zayne drops to his knees from disbelief from losing to Lt. Surge again.

It cuts to the window where the gang is watching the battle.

Jessie grits her teeth. "Looks like Surge got even stronger ever since I beat him."

"Consider yourself lucky then that you didn't go up against this even stronger Lt. Surge," Domino stated.

"To the Pokémon Center we go, I guess," James says.

It cuts to the Vermilion Pokémon Center with Zayne giving back Diglett's Poké Ball to Jessie.

"I'm sorry I couldn't win with your Diglett, Jessie." Zayne looks down and frowns.

"It's fine, Zayne. You were very close though and if you did hit that Dig move, you would've won!" Jessie replied with a smile. "Now if you excuse me, I gotta make a phone call." She heads over to the Pokémon Center's phone and transporting machine.

Zayne turns his attention to James and Domino. "So… now what?"

"You know Zayne, I think you should stick with beating Surge with your Wartortle!" Domino replied with a confident smile on her face.

"B-but electric types have the advantage over water types!" Zayne replied.

Domino wags her finger in response. "That might be true, but as an expert water Pokémon trainer, I fought and managed to train myself to come over matches when the odds weren't in my favor and I think you can do the same with your Wartortle!"

Zayne looks at Domino, then at James for confirmation.

James gives him a thumbs up. "It's true, she is a water expert Pokémon trainer."

"O-oh okay. Domino, do you mind training me then?" Zayne asked, a little shy from doing so.

Domino chuckles in response as she crouches to Zayne's height. "Of course I will."

Zayne's eyes glow in delight. "Thank you so much!"

It cuts back to Saffron City, where Team Rocket is, the Saffron Detention Center. The Team Rocket trio are in the yard as they walk up towards a prisoner by themselves.

"What do you want-" The prisoner immediately cuts their sentence off from seeing Butch. "Butch, buddy!"

"Hey, Travis bro!" Butch reveals the inmate's name as they do a friendly handshake.

Cassidy crosses her arms. "Wow, we've only been here for a day and you already made friends, Butch?"

"Because I'm cool and you're not, obviously," Butch says with a chuckle.

"He got you there!" Travis added with a chuckle of his own and high-fived Butch.

Cassidy snarls at the two as Mondo holds her back. "Let's not do anything that we will regret in the future!" Hey says, trying to calm her down.

"Anyways, Butch what do you want man?" Travis asked.

Butch looks around before whispering into his ear. "I heard you managed to smuggle in a shovel, are you by any chance selling?"

"Ooooh, I see what you're doing." Travis grins. "Yeah, I can sell it to you, as long as you don't snitch on me for selling the shovel to you in the first place if you do end up getting caught."

Butch immediately shakes his head no. "Bro, I would never do that to you, my man. How much is the shovel?"

"Just for you, I'll sell it for thirty stamps! It's really a good deal because I normally go with fifty stamps." Travis stated.

"Damn, I only got ten because the prison gives you ten stamps from the start for lunch money." Butch thinks before turning to her partners-in-crime. "Since you two want to escape too with me, so we combine our stamps and buy the shovel. Pretty obvious, right?"

"Oh! Yeah, I'm in!" Mondo agreed with a nod.

However, Cassidy crosses her arms and looks away. "Maybe you shouldn't have insulted me first before asking me for stamps."

"Cassidy, you dumbass!" Butch groans.

Travis whispers in Butch's ear. "Is she always this much of a bitch?"

"You have no idea how much of a pain it is dealing with her twenty-four, seven," Butch responded to Travis with a whisper of his own.

"Come on, Cassidy! Can you just man up and accept it!" Mondo says with a pout.

Cassidy shakes his head no in response. "Nope!"

Butch shrugs. "Oh well, I guess we can't catch that talking Meowth from the twerpette now. You know, to impress the boss?"

Cassidy slightly turns around to look at Butch from what he said.

"'Talking Meowth?'" Travis says, confused.

"Just let me talk," Butch responded, before turning back to Cassidy. "Yep, hell I won't be surprised if the boss lets us go while in prison. I think he's doing it right now if we don't escape."

Cassidy now fully turns around with an annoyed expression. "Fine, I'll do it."

The Team Rocket trio all gave their ten stamps to Travis.

"Excellent! I'll be right back with your shovel." Travis heads out to get the shovel for the trio.

It cuts to the outside of Vermilion City, it is evening with the sun almost setting down. Domino setting up targets for Zayne to practice with. Some small targets and big targets as well.

"Finished! Okay, Zayne. I need you to send out your Wartortle and have it use a water-type move to hit these targets!" Domino commanded.

Zayne nods and pulls out Wartortle's Poké Ball. "Okay! Wartortle, let's go!" He sends out Wartortle.

Wartortle materializes, however, the Pokémon looks more annoyed than happy. "Wartortle…"

Zayne looks at his Wartortle with a concerned face. "What's wrong Wartortle?"

"Wartortle…" The Pokémon cries out in annoyance.

"I think Wartortle didn't like that you tried to beat Lt. Surge with Jessie's Diglett. I think it wants to be the one to do it, despite the type advantage." Domino smiles while shedding a tear.

Zayne immediately starts apologizing to his Wartortle. "I'm so sorry Wartortle! Please accept my apology, I'll only beat Lt. Surge with you and no other Pokémon, I promise! Please forgive me."

Wartortle looks at its trainer, sees how much Zayne is sorry, and slowly fades its mouth into a smile, signaling forgiveness. "Wartortle!"

Zayne immediately hugs his Wartortle. "Thank you so much for forgiving me! Alright, are you ready to train?"

Wartortle nods. "Wartortle!"

"Alright, then use Hydro Pump on those small targets!" Zayne commanded and started pointing at the small targets in front of them.

"Wartortle!" Wartortle opens its mouth and shoots out floods of water from it, knocking down every single small target there is.

"What about the big targets?" Zayne asked.

"Use any other move to your desire to take it down!" Domino replied.

Zayne nods. "Use Skull Bash on that big target, Wartortle!"

Wartortle starts dashing towards the big target before bashing it with its skull, but the target is still up. As Wartortle jumps back to see that it's still up. "Wartortle…"

Zayne tries to hype up his Wartortle. "Come on Wartortle, I know you can bring that target down! Skull Bash it again!"

Wartortle once more starts dashing towards the big target with confidence in its eyes and gives the big target an even more powerful Skull Bash than last time then absolutely breaks the big target right into pieces. "Wartortle!"

Domino even looked impressed by it and was speechless. "Wow…"

"You did it, Wartortle!" Zayne runs up to hug his Wartortle in joy.

Jessie, Meowth, and James finally show up after seeing Wartortle break the big target with its Skull Bash as they clap for Zayne and Wartortle.

"That was impressive! I think you're ready to take on Lt. Surge now!" James says with a smile.

"Even with the type disadvantage?" Jessie questioned, scratching her head.

Domino nods in response to Jessie's question. "I believe Zayne and Wartortle can do it. I have faith in them!"

Zayne looks at Wartortle, dead in the eyes with a serious expression on his face now. "Are you ready to finally beat Lt. Surge once and for all and win that Thunder Badge?"

Wartortle also puts up a serious expression and nods in response. "Wartortle!"

"Wait… what time is it?" Zayne asked.

James looks at his watch. "Uhh… 7:58, PM. Why?"

Zayne's eyes widened after realizing this. "THE GYM CLOSES IN TWO MINUTES FOR THE NIGHT!"

The gang's eyes widened as Meowth just snickers.

"It would be funny if they had to wait till tomorrow." Meowth quietly says to himself.

"LET'S HURRY THEN!" Jessie shouted, sprinting back into Vermilion City with her friends and Zayne, with Wartortle, following behind.

It cuts outside of Vermilion Gym with Lt. Surge outside, waiting to lock the Gym once his watch strikes 8:00.

Lt. Surge growls. "Come on, you stupid watch, tick faster!"

"WAIT!"

Lt. Surge looks where the yell came from. "What?"

Lt. Surge sees the gang and Zayne sprinting in his direction as they reach the Vermilion Gym in time before it closes and they start catching their breath.

"Lt. Surge…" Zayne takes deep breaths between his sentences. "I want to challenge you again for a Thunder Badge."

Lt. Surge sighs in exhaustion. "Zayne, can't you just come back to challenge me tomorrow?"

"The rules of the Pokémon League state that you have to accept any challenge from a challenge before closing time for the Gyms, even if it's a minute before," James states to Lt. Surge with a glare.

Lt. Surge snarls and groans. "Fine, I'll beat you again for the millionth time today." Then he realizes Jessie and her friends. "Jessie, is that you?"

Jessie chuckles and waves. "Hey Surge, long time no see."

Lt. Surge then proceeds to grin as he looks at Zayne. "Oh, this is going to be so much fun, beating you again to show one of my previous challengers how strong I got. Let's go!"

Lt. Surge heads into the Gym with Jessie and her friends, and Zayne with Wartortle following from behind. It cuts to the Gym's battlefield with Lt. Surge and Zayne standing on opposite sides and the gang standing on the sidelines.

"Electabuzz, let's crush this victim once more!" Lt. Surge sends out Electabuzz into battle.

Electabuzz materializes and lands on the battlefield. "ELEBUBUBU!"

Zayne turns to Wartortle who was right next to him. "Ready, Wartortle?"

Wartortle looks back at its trainer and nods. "Wartortle!" The Pokémon hops onto the battlefield.

Lt. Surge decided to command the first move of this battle. "Alright Electabuzz, use Thunder to start it off!"

"ELEBUBUBU!" Electabuzz quickly shoots a bolt of powerful electricity from its horns right at Wartortle.

Zayne quickly counters. "Wartortle, Withdraw quick!"

Wartortle quickly withdraws into its shell as the electricity from Electabuzz hits its shell and the Thunder barely affects Wartortle because of it.

Lt. Surge raises an eyebrow. "Alright? Mega Kick!"

Electabuzz starts dashing towards Wartortle while crying out its cry.

Zayne commands his next move. "Skull Bash!"

Wartortle quickly withdraws out of its shell with a surprise which catches Electabuzz off guard, Wartortle dashes towards Electabuzz with a lot of speed and bashes the electric tiger with its skull right at Electabuzz's waist, dealing a lot of damage to the electric tiger.

Lt. Surge was surprised before quickly getting back into the battle and looked at his Electabuzz, now lying on the ground. "Come on Electabuzz, get up!"

The gang is still watching and smiling that Zayne is putting up a fight.

"There you go, Zayne! Don't let all of that training go to waste!" Domino says with her fist up.

"I think Zayne can finally do it this time!" Jessie added.

James looks at Domino and Jessie. "Let's not jinx him, though."

Electabuzz quickly hops back up on the ground, showing that it's still able to battle. "Elebububu!"

Lt. Surge commands his next move. "Thunder Punch!"

Electabuzz dashes towards Wartortle with its fist glowing white and surrounded by electricity and then proceeds to punch Wartortle.

"WARTORTLE!" Wartortle cries in extreme pain from getting hit by a super-effective move as it falls.

"Wartortle, no!" Zayne immediately called out his Pokémon.

Lt. Surge crosses his arms. "That's the end of the match, victim. You really think you still had a chance even with training your Wartortle."

"I told you both shouldn't have said anything!" James says to Jessie and Domino with a frustrated tone.

Domino was looking at Wartortle with sadness in her eyes. "Wartortle… no."

However, Wartortle gets back up, still wanting to fight. "Wartortle…"

"Wartortle! You still want to fight!" Zayne shouted in delight.

Lt. Surge's eyes widened for a bit before going back to serious. "Quick Attack, let's go!"

Electabuzz starts dashing towards Wartortle while crying out its cry. "Elebububu!"

"Withdraw, now!" Zayne countered.

"Wartortle!" Wartortle quickly withdraws into its shell before Electabuzz attacks it quickly, only hitting its shell.

"Electabuzz, stop there and wait!" Lt. Surge commanded.

Electabuzz stops right in its tracks and waits just like Lt. Surge commanded.

Zayne commands the next move. "Skull Bash it hard again!"

Wartortle withdraws out of its shell and starts dashing towards Electabuzz.

Lt. Surge commands his next move seeing Wartortle dashing towards Electabuzz. "Dodge it, now by using Thunder!"

"ELEBUBUBU!" Electabuzz immediately sends out powerful electricity from its horns right at Wartortle.

The gang all look worried from that electric attack.

"If Wartortle gets hit with that Thunder, this match might be over," James stated.

"Zayne has to think of something, quick!" Jessie added.

"One powerful Thunder coming up!" Meowth says.

Domino is looking on, seeing the electricity from Electabuzz flowing towards Wartortle. "Come on Wartortle, do something!"

Zayne started shaking in fear before he thought it was the best time to do this. "Wartortle, do that thing we've been planning. Dig under the battlefield with your shell!"

"Wartortle!" Wartortle withdraws in its shell, starts spinning at fast speeds, and completely starts going underground on the battlefield, as the Thunder misses Wartortle from the Pokémon going underground.

"Elebububu?" Electabuzz cries in confusion while looking around for Wartortle.

Lt. Surge was also confused as well. "What's happening here?"

The battlefield starts shaking as Electabuzz starts stumbling and then Wartortle pops up under the electric tiger, still spinning rapidly, striking the Pokémon completely and Electabuzz falls to the ground and faints.

Lt. Surge puts his hands on his head, in disbelief. "I CAN'T BELIEVE THIS!"

"We won… we won Wartortle!" Zayne goes over to where his Wartortle is on the battlefield and hugs his Pokémon while smiling.

"Wartortle!" The Pokémon cries in joy and hugs its trainer back.

The gang all started immediately clapping and cheering, seeing Zayne winning.

"What was that move that took out Electabuzz?!" Jessie asked, extremely impressed.

"That was Dig! A ground-type move that's super-effective against an electric type Pokémon like Electabuzz!" James answered her

"Good job Zayne… I knew you and Wartortle could do it!" Domino says to herself, quietly.

It cuts to Lt. Surge handing Zayne over the Thunder Badge. "Congratulations, Zayne. The fact you never gave up on your goal of beating me and with Wartortle, you earned this Thunder Badge by a lot!"

Zayne nods and happily accepts the Thunder Badge and then turns to Wartortle. "Wartortle, you deserve this Thunder Badge more than me!"

While the gang is watching, they all nod at each other as they exit the Vermilion Gym. It cuts to them leaving the city and now on a route, it is nightfall out.

"I'm so happy for Zayne," Domino said with a smile.

"It took him like a million tries though," Meowth says, showing signs of not being impressed.

James rolls his eyes at Meowth's comment. "Don't be such a downer, Meowth."

Zayne's voice was heard in the distance, calling out the gang. "Hey guys, wait!"

The gang all stopped, turned around, and saw Zayne sprinting towards them as he arrived with them with Wartortle by his side.

"What is it, Zayne?" Jessie asked.

"I just want to say how I'm so grateful for you all for helping me finally beat Lt. Surge!" Zayne says while bowing.

"It's no problem Zayne, we're just helping out a fellow trainer," James says with a smile.

"Oh and don't forget that the rest of the Gym Leaders are going to be more tough. So prepare for that." Jessie added, also smiling.

"I know, which is why to get stronger for the rest of the Gyms, I challenge you, Jessie, to a Pokémon battle!" Zayne says with determination.

Jessie grins. "You're so on! I'll battle you with a Pokémon I switched at the Pokémon Center with my Diglett that I haven't used yet!" She reaches into her purse and pulls out a Poké Ball.

Domino raises an eyebrow. "Which is?"

"Haunter, I choose you!" Jessie sends out her Haunter into battle.

"Ha Ha Ha Haunter!" Haunter cries out into battle.

Zayne turns to Wartortle. "Ready, Wartortle?"

"Wartortle!" Wartortle jumps into battle, ready to face Haunter.

"Zayne challenges Jessie to a Pokémon battle! Who's gonna be victorious? Will it be a more experienced trainer, Jessie, but with a Pokémon, she hasn't used yet, or a less experienced trainer, but the Pokémon he started from the very beginning, Wartortle? Find out as the journey continues!"

The ending scene starts with the Team Rocket trio, now out of prison uniforms and back into their Team Rocket uniforms, underground digging their escape with Cassidy dragging a rocket launcher with them.

"Butch, what's the damn point of dragging this rocket launcher?" Cassidy asked, catching her breath from exhaustion.

"Just trust me, it's gonna be worth it!" Butch replied and continued digging for a little bit until he stopped. "Okay, I think we're out of the fence. Digging up!" Butch starts digging up.

It cuts to the surface where Butch digs out from underground and pops his head out with Mondo and Cassidy following. They look to see they have indeed dug under the fence and are free.

"We're finally free!" Cassidy says in delight.

"Way to go, Butch!" Mondo complimented.

Butch grins, feeling confident in himself. "Of course, I would do it!"

However, the trio were immediately surrounded by police from every direction, completely trapping them.

One of the officers starts shouting at the trio with a megaphone. "THIS IS THE SAFFRON POLICE DEPARTMENT! STAY THERE AND PUT YOUR HANDS UP!"

Cassidy and Mondo turn to Butch with a glare. "Nice going, Butch!" They both said at the same time.

"Hang on! I'm not that stupid! Here's why I asked to bring that rocket launcher. Blast us off out here, quick!" Butch demanded.

"Right!" Cassidy aims the rocket launcher she was carrying to the hole that they dug.

"SUSPECTS' GOT A ROCKET LAUNCHER, FIRE!" One of the officers commanded, getting ready to shoot the trio.

Cassidy quickly fires the rocket launcher, as the area explodes, sending Team Rocket blasting off.

"Way to go Butch!" Cassidy complimented.

"Yeah! Good thinking!" Mondo added.

Butch crosses his arms. "I told you I had the perfect plan!"

"TEAM ROCKET IS BLASTING OFF FOR GOOD THIS TIME!" Ding!
