Spatial Wall was a technique that solidified space and allowed one to use it as a shield.
Ryuk was able to conjure two at a go but Max, he could only manage one at the moment.
Compared to other space techniques, it was most similar to Regard's Constriction which solidified space and crushed that solid space.
Of course both had different applications.
