There was setting up her base, for one.
Back when the Nightravens had been attached to the 1st Ascendant, she just had to follow Zai around. Now, she had a top-secret facility, a lab, and a living complex in the steppes to the northwest of Escator.
The eponymous canyon her facility was named for was actually hours away to the west, and her facility was officially listed as a conservation outpost as part of the new government's anti-desertification efforts.
That made it easy to get access to all sorts of equipment, but it also meant the base was hours and hours away from even the nearest villages.
The abundance of work was keeping her busy, but as things progressed, she was receiving less and less to do. The message, if there was one, seemed clear.
She needed to figure things out herself.
