Search and Destroy - Part 2
The shriek was so loud and forceful, Zai flinched as she tried to put as much spirit into her defense as she could.
A moment later, in spirit sight Zai watched as the front of the building exploded, a dark shape leaping out of it directly towards her.
All along the neighborhood, houses lit up as the sheer noise awoke those inside.
The shrieking form descended on Zai, who leveled her sword as the woman she'd cut off from Hume cried out.
"Give him back! Give him back to me!"
She was inches away from Zai's blade when a blast suddenly threw Zai back, an invisible wall of force that felt like being struck by the blast wave of an artillery shell.
A strange haze had appeared in front of the woman for just a moment, and in the half-second Zai had to recover, she saw the woman start to punch the air in front of her even though she was well away.
